Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.86/day in the week to Aug 23 → 6.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I’ve had this game sitting in my Steam library for around two years now. I don’t know why I never got around to playing it, I just haven’t. Finally sat down and played it yesterday. Took me about an hour and a half to finish it. Good game.
Background
Donut County was released in 2018 by indie developer Ben Esposito. Donut County began from a game jam prompted by pitches from a parody Twitter account, Peter Molydeux. Esposito made the game, The Pits , from this and had the player simply move a hole around the level. Eventually, this game evolved into a “reverse Katamari ,” with the hole expanding after swallowing objects around the level. This would become Donut County . A demo was featured at IndieCade in 2012. With a simple goal of collecting objects and launching them at the sun, trying to dislodge it from the sky. The game would go on to make further appearances at GDC from 2013 to 2015. After a long development period, the game was released in August 2018. It would go on to receive positive reviews across all platforms and from all critics.
Story
BK is a raccoon who uses his tablet to drive a remote-controlled hole in the ground. BK goes around Donut County, swallowing his friends’ property and his friends themselves into his hole. But then BK finds himself in one of his holes with his best friend Mira. Mira and the rest of Donut County confront BK about his holes and demand he fix the situation.
Gameplay
You ever see that mobile game hole.io ? This is (likely) where they lifted their gameplay from. In Donut County , you control a moving hole in the ground that gets bigger with every object that falls in. Each level typically starts in a smaller area, but as the hole swallows more items and grows bigger, the level is expanded, and the hole is given more area to roam. Each level’s objective remains about the same: swallow every object and clear the level. The game has some puzzle aspects to it. Sometimes the hole will fill with water , and you have to find a way to empty it. Or the hole will swallow a fire , and you can use this to set objects on fire. Nothing extraordinarily difficult to figure out. It just adds some variety. It’s a simple game concept; there’s really nothing more to it. The game is short, so the gameplay doesn’t overstay its welcome. There’s just something satisfying about making things fall down a hole.
Gamefeel
I liked the simplistic art style of Donut County . All the characters are stylized in a charming manner, not exactly low poly but more just low detail. It sometimes reminded me a lot of Katamari Demacy . This extends to the rest of the environment too. The levels are just cute to look at. I also thought that the dialogue between levels was funny. The game never really takes itself seriously, and it's reflected in the way characters talk to each other. The idea that these characters are just saying things like “lol” or “omg” out loud when speaking with each other; it makes me grin ear-to-ear and my cheeks rosy red. Something about seeing these characters treat this catastrophic scenario as a minor inconvenience is hilarious.
Conclusion
Donut County is a fun game. It makes for a charming little experience with a simple game mechanic. It was also a very short game; I have no issues with this. If the game went on longer than it had to without changing anything up, I probably would have gotten a little bored with the gameplay. The game ended right where it needed to. I wasn’t left wanting anything more from the experience.

Cute and silly
The short and sweet standard of what a perfect game is
Cute and lots of fun.

Good game to turn your brain off and relax for 10-15 minutes. It's also short, you can beat it in 2 hours (and grind another 3 hours for steam trading cards) which is good considering that it's fun only in short sessions. Music and visuals are soothing. I don't recommend it if you're yearning for a challenge or depth.
Delightfully Absurd, Short, and Sweet 🦝🍩 I really enjoyed playing Donut County! It’s a short, hilarious, and super chill game that never gets boring. The concept of playing as a growing hole swallowing an entire town is just pure fun, and the humor in the dialogues (and the Trashopedia) actually made me laugh out loud a few times. It took me about 2 hours to finish, which felt like the perfect length. Nothing was dragged out, and every minute was entertaining. It’s a great game to relax with after a long day, and I’m definitely going to replay it again sometime. Highly recommended! 8/10
