Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge

DON'T BUY IT! iT DOES NOT START!

Although I REALLY disliked Desperados 1 and thought it could be better, Desperados 2 does the exact thing people always want sequels to be: A literally different genre. I mean, yeah, you COULD play the game from the top down, but it's way more fun and easier to just go into third person and blast your way through. Because this is what this game truly is, a third person shooter. Stealth doesn't always work, if I thought the stealth in the first game was wonky in this game it's broken. Everytime you kill an enemy you get such a massive amount of ammo that you can pretty much blast your way through the game with a single character without much problem. Which I think was intended, considering how many levels have forced encounters The AI is incredibly buggy and unlike the first game it gets stuck on level geometry a lot, note that this doesn't stop it from 1-shot-killing you the nanosecond they see you and turn to face you. I've heard that the game runs bad on AMD hardware, and on mine the performance drops when going to third person mode are awful, even with the game all on minimum. Keep in mind I'm on an RX570. Not exactly a modern contender for high tier, but it should be easily 2x overkill for a low budget game from 2006. The story makes absolutely no sense. You get suddenly dropped into the intro cutscene of Cooper's brother that was never mentioned before, him getting tortured and killed, and your path to revenge against a criminal that was never mentioned before. There's absolutely no tie in with the previous game. Adding to that, none of the voice actors of the first game return, which while I am not attached to, still think it's a damn shame, since they did a superb job before. The game is only 6 missions long, somehow. There's "changes" in the middle of the missions that give you new objectives and refill the screen with enemies but there's still only 6 missions.

Ayant adoré le premier et l'ayant refait récemment sans encombre et EN FRANCAIS, j'ai trouvé ce jeu tout simplement injouable. (Pour le français, on trouve la traduction intégrale sur google) et une petite manip dans les fichiers du jeu permet de passer en 1920x1080 (ou autre résolution). Mais alors le gameplay en lui même... Catastrophique, lent, peu intuitif... Bug de sons, les cinématiques FORCEMENT en anglais, même si je le comprends, c'est non pour moi, j'ai failli quitter dès le tuto, mais la 1ere mission a eu raison de ma patience.

Runs well on Windows 11 and it's a decent game. I enjoyed the first one more but it's not that bad
