I am a 505 year old scottish kilt wearing porridge eating mothertrucker, and probably one of the oldest people in the world playing this game. I am a single porridge eater to my TruckPorridge, who is 56 now. My KiltSon got this game for from his Porridge, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 5000 hours on the porridge. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my Porridge, let alone with his Porridge. He is always out with his Kiltfriends or just watching Scottish adult movies on StonehengeHub. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him, her, they/them, lassie. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my PorridgeSon for help and he screamed MORE PORRIDGE LASSIE, and went out to battle against the Irish, the English, the Californians, the Russian, the Italians (limortacci loro) and the Ancient Romans. Which I couldn't join. It was the best time I had spent with my PorridgeSon since my KiltDog had died. This PorridgeEatingKiltWearing game has ever since brought me and my PorridgeEatingdog closer again and now we porridgin' all the time: outside, inside, together, separated, in Scotland, outside Scoland, in Edinburgh with my Lochness cat, my Lochness dog, my Lochness penis and my bagpipes cat friends. This game reminded me that there are many porridges to be drunk in every town in ScotlandFOREVER as you know where to look. For the highaldnds For Scotland For me bagpipes For your lucky charms, you gob eating porridge smacking lip sucking stupid dumb peepeesmallgang wieners

Ah dae nae ken how come sic a gem is hidden awa' fae us, it's unjustifiably underrated fur real, th' ainlie kinch wi' this gam ah fun sae far is that ah stairted talking a bawherr pure weird in sassenach...
Full of charm and lighthearted humour, Defend The Highlands was 13 hours well spent when I played it, more than 5 years ago by now. Visit Nessie, face the treacherous redcoats, fight the Irish leprechauns - all in good spirits (pun intended).
Definitely recommended despite no' bein' a polished product graphics an' UX-wise. The campaign wis well built wi' a calculated increase in difficulty an' new variables tae keep the game engagin' while introducin' new enemies an' upgradin' their attack potential as ye progress through the levels. Ah even had tae replay a couple o' missions tae get mair upgrade points an' gie it anither go, especially wi' the Buckingham Palace level, so Ah'd say the campaign difficulty wis spot-on.
A quick non-review-related word: That English enemy unit that lobs tea-pots at ye an' causes splash damage is such a pain in the arse, ♥♥♥♥ that guy.

Crashes or bugs
Ah luckily havnae experienced too many crashes, but there are some incidents o' weird behaviour:

The units cannae reach a defence machine ye placed a bit near the water or another machine, even though there's a clear visible path.
There wis a thing that happens efter ye've already placed a number o' defence machines, where if ye pick a new yin tae build, it wid immediately build it where the mouse wis pointin', instead o' lettin' ye choose a place. This happened consistently, an' Ah had tae pick the tower when the mouse wis pointin' ower a non-suitable terrain tae prevent an immediate build.
This yin wis just funny tae see: when ye sell a machine that's occupied by a Scotsman, he'll slide ower the terrain wi' his hands up in the air tae the nearest unoccupied machine.
