Reviews
Very punishing but equally rewarding and enjoyable roguelike which does an excellent job at staying interesting throughout every run. DLC's aren't needed to enjoy the game, but they add lots of new and unique content while staying cheap. The combat is perfect with incredibly smooth gameplay, movement and tons of variety in weapons, items, builds. The music is amazing as well. Overall great game a must buy for any fans of the genre.
This game is great. It's a sort of 2d side scroller with fast paced combat that has a lot of variety and re-playability. You start off somewhat weak and through every attempt to progress through the maps and every death you slowly gain power to go further the next time.. and the next... and the next after that. Death becomes part of the game. You keep earning currency to unlock permanent upgrades, then try again. You can start with random weapons, or use the options to control what is available. As you move through the levels you find new weapons and items so you can swap or upgrade as you go. Each weapon can change how you fight making it very fun. The art is great. It's vibrant and you can clearly see it in the trailers. Unlocking all cosmetics, powers, weapons, and hunting achievements when the path through the worlds you can take each time can change makes this game have a lot of hours of potential gameplay. This one is worth the money.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

That game is obviously an absolute banger. I mean the reviews speak for themselves. I am not leaving this review to compliment how great it feels to play, or it's awesome soundtrack, I am posting this to point out that the minimal requirements are not very accurate, I am running this game on a potato pc at a solid 60 fps, I really don't see why the requirements say " Intel i5+"
Dead Cells is what happens when movement itself becomes the main weapon. You don’t just play this game, you flow through it. Running, rolling, slashing, dodging, chaining attacks together until your character feels less like a person and more like momentum given physical form. At first, it’s brutal. You die quickly, often, and usually in ways that feel suspiciously personal. But each run teaches you something: a better route, a sharper reaction, a new weapon that suddenly changes everything. And then it clicks. Suddenly you’re airborne half the time, weaving through enemies like they’re standing still, triggering traps, melting bosses, and wondering when exactly you stopped being fragile. The game never stops testing you, but you keep getting faster at answering. The weapon variety is excellent. Every run can feel completely different depending on what drops, and builds can swing from careful tactical play to pure aggressive chaos in seconds. It rewards adaptation more than planning, which makes every run feel fresh. The biomes are beautifully grim, each one dripping with atmosphere and danger. Everything feels hostile, but fair in that classic “you could have dodged that” kind of way. It’s punishing, fast, and endlessly replayable. And when you lose, it never feels like the game cheated. It feels like you blinked at the wrong time. 10/10. Died fast. Returned faster.
There are over a dozen roguelikes I would rather play than this one. I got bored after just a few hours. If you really like Metroidvania games, and are new to roguelikes, then maybe this is for you. For veterans to the roguelike genre like myself, you might also be disappointed with Dead Cells. There is lots of effort behind this game, it just did not fit my personal preferences at all as it lacks key aspects I value in other roguelikes. I will say that the art is pretty, and the music is very good. And that if you are patient enough with this game, the gameplay apparently does get better if you invest around 50 hours grinding for higher "BC" difficulties. Why Dead Cells is worse than most other big roguelikes: 1. Difficulty is very easy if you are just patient/play cowardly. It's rare you'll feel any real pressure. 90% of the time you die it's because you are impatient to play cowardly. While yes if you progress far enough (50+ hours) the difficulty gets to the point that enemies can teleport to you, mostly eliminating this strategy, one shouldn't have to grind 50-100 hours for the difficulty to finally feel right. And for all I know the increased bullet sponge aspect might make the game even less fun in ways, as while having bad luck with a roll is natural, I still do not want to slog through it for too long. 2. Story and character exploration are non-existent. The lore isn't really deep either. 3. Levels feel very repetitive. Same enemies each time and while there is a big variety on paper, some appear far too often. I can only kill so many skeletons and zombies before getting bored. 4. There are no crazy combinations. Not any interesting weapons or relics I have encountered so far. You basically just boost stats. "Do you want health, melee damage, or ranged damage?" 5. No amusing or interesting dialogue 6. Progression is at a snails pace. While that's okay if you get to see some story or dialogue, in this case it really does feel like you accomplished nothing more than a water in the bucket 7. While the pixel art is pretty, I personally do not find the aesthetics charming as I did for Hollow Knight and many others. The designs are original enough, but they are not memorable or leave any impression.
Do you like Dark Souls? Do you like Roguelikes? Do you like Metroidvanias? If so, this is definitely the game for you. I got 50h into it, and I still can't beat the final boss, though I can get to him on almost every run, there are tons of builds, I got all the five DLCs and they are totally worth it, especially the Castlevania one. Runs like a dream on steam deck, pure adrenaline, or slow strategic gameplay up to you how you play.
This is one of those games where the DLC are integrated ingame; you fight through a gauntlet of enemies to reach a door and a message appears that say "if you want to go here you must buy X"... So if you want a "full" game you have to buy all DLC and that's practically the same cost as the base game.
