Reviewing this in 2025, having played Darkout back in EA before it was "released." Using the Early Access tags for my library the other day, it popped up and I immediately got nostalgic. This game was a lot of fun. The lighting aspect, sci-fi theme (which was rare), tech tree and other kind of new ideas on progression, were the things I liked the most. It fit well into the genre and showed a bunch of promise. Unfortunately it's unfinished, and you can't complete the main questline (which wasn't a whole lot but had you collecting data logs and progressing), there are bugs, and just, well, there was never "more" of it like there are with games like these. It has a few couple biomes, a boss type, decently fleshed tech and building, some interesting ideas... but it kind of all just ends. Why am I rating this as a recommend? Because I think it's still worth the $10 if you watch the videos and take a look at the screenshots, like these types of games, and think it looks like something you would like, there's still a lot to have fun with here.

Cool mais trop peu travaillé.

I wish Steam would have better procedures and guidelines in place for games that get abandoned and won't be getting any additional content. This game is mostly complete. It was supposed to be a 3 episode game but didn't make it, so the main quest just kinda peters out. Supposedly they're going to actually finish the game with DLC's which is better than nothing. Sandbox mode is a thing. They should really just open up the source code and let modders have at it instead of putting it in limbo after this DLC drops. Ah Steam, why you do like this?
Darkout — игра, где я строю базу, а монстры приходят проверить дизайн. Отличный симулятор «ремонт по вызову» в космосе, рекомендую! 🚀
Крутая песочница для выживания!
Its incomplete and the controls + hitboxes make it a chore to enjoy. To be fair, I expected a Terraria clone, and hoped for Terraria like support... alas.

10 тёмных ночей из 10. Очень атмосферная вещь. Её бы развивать и развивать!
