Finally decided to give Dark Souls a try after finishing Elden Ring. Going back to the roots of the FS souls games is refreshing and just different enough to modern souls. Felt the age of the game but that didn't matter to the overall experience of the game. The game was fantastic and beautiful!

Dark Souls Remastered belongs firmly in the second category. It doesn't shower you with quest markers or explain every mechanic with a twenty-minute tutorial. Instead, it drops you into a dying world and simply says, "Good luck." At first, that can be intimidating; then it becomes addictive. Every shortcut you discover, every boss you overcome, and every lesson learned from your own mistakes feels genuinely earned. And yes, you'll probably die to a random skeleton five minutes after beating a legendary boss. Dark Souls has a wicked sense of humor like that! What truly makes the game unforgettable is its world. Lordran is one of the most brilliantly designed settings I've ever explored, with areas looping back into one another in ways that constantly made me stop and think, "Wait... this connects to that?" The combat is deliberate and rewarding, encouraging patience over button mashing, while the cryptic story is told through conversations, environments, and item descriptions rather than lengthy cutscenes. It trusts the player to piece everything together, making every discovery feel personal instead of scripted. The story is about a cycle. Four "forces" sealed the darkness away by eliminating the Dragons, and creating an Age of Fire. Gwyn, the Human King (one of the four forces), decided to seal himself with the bonefire and link his soul to it, keeping the world alight for centuries. The light begins to dim, and a prophecy is running amok the inhabitants of Lordran, that an Undead will link the fire, relieve Gwyn of his mission, and continue it to keep the fire lit! However, as you continue playing it will become all too obvious, that the whole thing about keeping the light lit is a LIE! Gwyn's son, Gwyndolin, uses all of his lifeforce to keep this illusion up in Anor Londo. If you find a way to dissolve his illusion, you'll figure out that the world IS IN DARKNESS, not Light, and that the best thing to be done at this point is let the world become nothingness by NOT linking the fire! That is ONE of TWO endings you can get, however it's very appearent that cannonically your character is stupid enough NOT to discover Gwyndolin's scheme. Dark Souls Remastered isn't flawless. A few late-game areas show their age, and the remaster itself is fairly modest compared to modern remakes. But none of that changes the fact that this is one of the most influential RPGs ever created. It's challenging without being unfair, mysterious without being confusing for the sake of it, and endlessly satisfying once everything clicks. By the end of my journey, killing each boss a countless times (I'm ending my playthrough at NG+7) I wasn't just celebrating the bosses I had defeated; I was mourning the fact that I could never experience Lordran for the first time again. Also, if a suspiciously friendly chest ever smiles at you... run, lol. Did I mention that once you get bored with taking down the bosses you could help other players do the same? Or make their lives a living hell by invading them relentlessly, killing them before they even get to the boss? At first glance, that would sound quite devilish, but you're teaching them, indirectly, how to play and destroy bosses in their path. 10/10 game that will NEVER EVER be repeated. EVER!
A honest to goodness certified classic. Easily one of my favorite games. It might not be the best of all time but it still holds up even today. It truly stands well against time and I always look forward to playing it in some fashion
Finishing my first ever playthrough of Dark Souls 1, I thought it was a good game. The world design is phenomenal. The atmosphere hits just right too! The first half of the game is just breathtaking and chef's kiss. Now what keeps me from saying this is a great game is primarily the Lord Souls in the second half of the game. The areas, the bosses, it felt like the quality that the first half of the game had lost its touch when doing each Lord Soul. But then the dlc hits, and it makes up for that loss of quality feel. Artorias was a phenomenal boss, Kalameet was my favorite dragon boss of the game, Manus felt like a great final boss for the dlc. Sif felt so much more impactful after doing the dlc, even making me cry with the boss fight. Then finally once all was done with dlc and Lord Souls, the journey of the Chosen Undead comes to an end and Gwyn, Lord of Cinder felt like a satisfying conclusion to the entire journey that led up to this very moment. I had fun with the game, it was challenging but it wasn't impossible and had me realize I should never downplay myself for nothing is impossible and you can do it no matter how hard it is. With patience, practice, calmness, and more you can conquer it all. This game is a journey that I feel people should experience at least once for it is a good game, a satisfying game. Remember, don't you dare go hollow.
karanlık ruhlar yeniden ustalastırılmıs
This is one of those games that I feel everyone should play at least once. That being said, after ripping off the rose-tinted glasses glued to everyone's face following this game's legacy it's full of jank and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ moments. It's glaringly obvious where the game had its corners cut/ areas that feel that they were never finished. People who talk about "enemy spam" in later games clearly never got to the Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith where the enemies are shamelessly copy pasted, as if people wouldn't think that 7 Taurus Demons facing the same cardinal direction, or the 20 morbillion lower undead dragon halves looks out of place. This game also feels like it gives the illusion of "build choice". Good luck doing anything except swinging a greatsword, because the targeting for any ranged options are horrid, and the lock-on only works if the enemy is 5 feet in front of you. The lack of defensive or utility magic, combined with the inability to reinforce your catalysts, except for the pyromancy flame, makes any type of dedicated magic build, a waste of time. Oh, and you can't respec your build lmao. Not only do you fight enemies, but you also fight the terrible camera controls and the environment. Over half of the game contains areas where it's enclosed and the camera is stroking its ♥♥♥♥ against a wall and disorienting you in the process, don't even get me started on the Input Buffering. Getting to the boss fights always ends up being way harder than the boss itself in this game, each one maybe sporting like 3-4 situational attacks that you can easily exploit them into spamming. PvP isn't even really worth griping on (that much) , the game barely feels like it was intended to support players fighting each other with the bad latency and desync that will plague this entire series. It just devolves into rolling and strafing to see who can win a backstabbing competition. The subpar gameplay aside, everything else about this game is great, the lore, the setting, the music. I love the characters and the world they've built. The cryptic nature of this series will always be interesting and fun to explore. This is game series I've grown up with and is my autistic special interest that defined a chunk of my personality and I will forever love it in spite of its flaws and downsides. All of that together, you can't be a gamer and not have tried Dark Souls, it has left its legacy that will be seen in video games until time loses meaning. Don't believe the larpers, Dark souls 2 sweep.
Satın aldığım ilk oyun bu efsanenin Prepare to Die versiyonuydu. Üzerinden yıllar geçip oyunu sayısız kez bitirmeme rağmen, Lordran'a her adım attığımda aynı heyecanı hissediyorum.
Masterpiece. (The verticality level design and interconnectivity is insanely well done along side such an incredible fighting system)
