This is my 2nd or 3rd playthrough. Honestly this game was way ahead of it's time, and while considerably linear, it's still big enough to get stumped once in a while, and the combat is fun. Came out 5 years before Skyrim and somehow it looks and plays better. These developers thought of just about everything. It actually reminds me of a "good" Bethesda game, minus all the bugs and crashes. Once you update the .exe for newer systems to optimize the game for higher memory, you're set. Good or Evil?..Enjoy!
Dishonored started here
Most people interested by this game today will fall into two groups: the ones that played the old Heroes or M&M RPGs, and Immersive Sim-fans. I'm both, and while there is absolutely nothing here for the first group (it was just Ubisoft trying to capitalize on an established trademark), there is plenty for the second group. While Arx Fatalis is a different kind of beast, in Dark Messiah you'll find the true beggining of Arkane's trademark brand of Im-Sim. Its gameplay brings a lot of Dishonored vibes, from the character movement and attacks to the magic skills. I prefer to play those games as a melee/stealth assassin and felt immediately at home. Sure it's not exactly Dishonored lite. Dark Messiah put less emphasis on magic skills, and more on environmental interaction. No "pacific" or "chaos" choices here, you'll do a lot of killing, but the amount of ways you have to deal with your enemies is impressive. Yes, the meme is real, kicking is overpowered and trivializes some sections, but others are a masterclass in using the environment to deal with enemies. Playing on Hard was great, because the enemies stayed strong the whole game. Although I still fought plenty of "fair" battles, most of the time I was forced to look for alternative methods. Many rather cheesy, but it was fun anyway. Now, there is a fundamental difference that puts Dark Messiah some steps lower than Dishonored and predecessors such as Deus Ex in the "Im-Sim classics" scale: the game is strictly linear. No sprawling maps with alternative routes, no branching narrative, no dialogue choices. There are secrets to be found here and there, if you look a bit further than the main road. But overall it plays as a corridor shooter that throws you into one set piece after another. It's just pieces that you have many ways to fit in the overarching, static puzzle. There are some other annoying aspects. The story is meh and gives you almost zero time to get interested in it and involved with characters before throwing you into the action. The portrait of the "romantic interests" is cringeworthy in its teenager-ness. The physics and engine are far from polished, I had frequent troubles with mantling, impaling, hitboxes and the like. And I will never understand people's obsession with scripted sequences and boss battles that force you into rigid strategies. Those annoyances could be in fact good for some, but ruin the game for others. I just decided to quicksave/godmode my way out of the most boring parts and still managed to get a lot of fun from the "normal" gameplay. The game still looks good for a 2006 game and demanded very few tweaks to work properly. Look at the pcgamingwiki for "Large Address Aware", I had no crashes whatsoever with it. Look around also for "enhanced controls" to tweak some keys and to initializing options to deal with stutter or crashes.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

My top game from Arkane, with Arx Fatalis. Ubisoft, you should make a remake, or a sequel. It was the good old days : Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, 3D Rayman, and this AWESOME game. Stop your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ modern licenses and bring back this gem
The Big Trouble in Little China of video games. I'm never not having a blast when I play. Badass battlemage adventure power fantasy and physics fun house with incredibly satisfying combat. Perfectly balances being challenging and rewarding but fun first and foremost, never tedious or irritating. The succubus companion and her beguiling commentary on your adventures is the cherry on top to make it feel like a Frazetta painting, but the sagacious adventurer knows the righteous sexy sorceress is the way. A great thumos and gusto inducing experience with all around good taste in what is cool and kickass. Had occasional crashes in my playthrough but the game is so damn fun I never found myself irritated at having to do parts again, plus you can save anytime and it loads back up quick. The tip online to lower the gfx detail setting seemed to help reduce them as well.
No se por que cada juego que veo del canal de joseju se temina convirtiendo en la obra mas divertida que he jugado en mi vida
This game is like, what if Oblivion was a linear game with funni ragdoll physics from half-life 2 and made on Source engine, this game is fantastic and very goofy, i love it! I recommend doing a Kick only run, the kicking mechanic is so satisfying and kicking people out of the window is so funny.
Великолепная игра, которой вдохновляются многие разработчики до сих пор. Пройдена более 20 раз в далёком 2007 году. Крайне рекомендую! https://youtu.be/_v54s8PivZk?si=Fhk26hcDcTXraCyg
STRONG RECOMMENDATION. Although graphics is not that great now, it makes up with the gameplay. Game is a mix between first person adventure game with focus on combat and exploration. Levels are pretty linear but have some secret rooms and passages. Climbing on ropes and platforming sections are fun. I would say it have some similarities to Thief series. Game set in Might & Magic world so creatures like orcs, goblins and dragons are common. Biggest danger palkai, huge dragon flying above kingdom will be one your main enemies. Combat is done well, blocking, dodges and different abilities at disposal. Hard difficulty have some decent challenge. Great soundtrack. Seriously, but this one should be played before jumping into coffin.
All the praise people give this game is an understatement. They're absolutely right. It's clearly the predecessor to Dishonored. It offers gameplay with absolute freedom to approach every situation in many ways (though not that many), something only seen in games like Deus Ex or System Shock 2 at the time. It even draws inspiration from games like Thief, if you ask me. It plays with physics in a super interesting way, much like Half-Life did back in the day. All of this is set against a fantasy backdrop that isn't crucial, nor does it try to be, but it's interesting enough to keep you playing and immerse yourself in that world. There are some moments with optional choices that even alter the plot. That's appreciated for future replays. I had some trouble running it on Windows 11, but with fixes you can found here and the 4gb_patch, it ran much better. Totally recommended
I really loved this game from the very beginning and I was excited to keep playing it. Unfortunately i can't because it's full of bugs and constant crashes. I couldn't find any real fix online, so it's literally unplayable. It's so sad to see gems like this abandoned.
