I have a love/hate relationship with this game. The graphics, ambience, story, music, and gameplay are all stellar. However, it is definitely a grind and can be very unforgiving at times. I have to play the game with the damage scaled all the way down, otherwise my equipment winds up becoming obsolete before I make any meaningful progress within the story. I am sure it is a skill issue as much as anything, so I appreciate the accessibility they built into the game for people like me who just want a quick(ish) run through an amazing story in a beautiful universe.
I have such a weird thought about CrossCode having now beaten all it's content (not like, 100%, just all the DLC and most of the basegame stuff). I had never heard of the developers of CrossCode (being Radical Fish Games) until I got the game, but for some reason, more than most other games I've played, I feel strangely proud of the devs for finishing the game, like I just think "Wow, seriously good job, you knocked it out of the park". I can at the very least say, that the game has my heartfelt recommendation, it's such a fun game. Anyone on the fence about whether or not to get it, do yourself a favor and get it. Surprisingly fun combat, for how seemingly simple it looks on the surface, some genuinely super well put together head scratcher puzzles (that aren't even unfair for the sake of being unfair), and a super heartfelt story that almost made me cry. TLDR; It's a good game :)

Jogo nota A
good game
yo screw the review the things these guys are doing with the Impact engine inspire me to make my own ARPG, awesome game Radicall Fish made here.
There's a lot about this game that I really really like. The world and 'vibe' of the setting feels great, I love the character writing, and the core gameplay is great as well. When the combat and puzzles click, it feels fantastic. There were a lot of things that annoyed me a lot though. A lot of areas felt like an idea of a puzzle was less expanded on and more 'repeated but kind of bigger', and I will say the last story dungeon in particular made me want to be done with it as soon as possible. I say that while still recommending this game cause while I got annoyed (sometimes to the point of wanting to stop), I still finished it and am glad I did. Though I did feel sad that after achieving the good ending, to see the full outcome of that I would have to purchase the DLC which I do not plan to at this time. I am very much looking forward to the next game, Alabaster Dawn, in great hopes of learning and improving upon the parts of this game that left some sour taste.
An insane amount of filler that bogs down what's probably a decent game. The puzzles and challenges aren't hard but traversing the world is incredibly tedious because of the elevation mechanic in a 2D game and having to run through the same exact path 50 times to collect chests, complete quests, and progress forward in the world. There are multiple instances in the first few hours of gameplay where you need to run through the same 2-3 minute long path to collect a chest, kill some enemies or plants for quest/crafting items, and reach a new zone because the path has mutually exclusive jump off points that don't allow you to get back up and continue. So you need to loop back (sometimes in a different zone altogether) and make the run back. If you miss a jump because you couldn't tell which of the 5+ elevations you were on, then have fun running the same long path yet again to get back to where you fell off. I really enjoyed the Alabaster Dawn demo and figured I would try the studio's first game while I waited for Alabaster Dawn to finish early access. But man, I don't think I have the patience for something this boring. Your character has zero agency and doesn't even talk. I got filtered by the boredom. I feel like this game would have been more interesting if the main character spoke and the world was more straight forward. Just let me fight some bosses. Literally the only fun part of this game...
10/10 play it and have a blast. the story is incredible
Just can't get into. if there is story it's pacing very poorly. puzzles punish you for doing the exact thing you're supposed to do a few minutes later, but never explain it. combat feels kinda clunky, in a vacuum it's kinda awesome but then a large chunk of enemies require you hit them from a specific side, pretty standard stuff, but that angle is always instantly faced away from you to encourage you the hyper sensitive (for controller) throwing mechanic which shows a nice little aimer to help you out by never following the trail. wishlisted a long while back cause i go the impression of secret of mana and if thats what it's supposed to be, it does a great diservice.
