A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

Non-Spoiler Review: The Story: 4.5 / 5 I can not go into enough detail on why the story is actually great in CrossCode. Playing a game, within a game, is everywhere in the details and the characters you interact with. While there are little here and there moments that feel "rushed," it does not take anything away from how you experience the story. The Music: 5 / 5 Even as I write this review I can hum along with all the different music found in the game. The basic combat music is personally my favorite. The boss music fits great, the overworld music for all the areas fit perfectly, sometimes it can feel repetitive, but not in the annoying sense. The Gameplay: 3.5 / 5 The combat is great. It feels great to just bash small enemies and challenging bosses. The being said, there are plenty of enemies that just feel like a brick wall, with very small openings to break their gaurds. There are times you get to a point and just stop fighting enemies because of the exploration. Speaking of, the lack of a jump button, and the vague jumps you need to make made me more frustrated than anything. The puzzles on the other hand are done great. Great use of all your abilities with some level of skill and brain power needed to complete the puzzles. Great combat, good puzzles, meh exploration. The Art style: 5 / 5 CrossCode using the 16-bit art style to the fullest. Every pixel used has passion and attention put into it and it shows from the enemy designs, the character's and their emotions, and the overall design of the entire world you play in has something beautiful about it. The Price: 5 / 5 $20 for the base game and $9 for a DLC. Easy buy of a lifetime. I got CrossCode from a sale, but it is so worth the price entirely. Overall: 4.6 / 5 Possibly my favorite indie game.
my brother got to introduce it to me in the early access, it was around 2020-2021 I was a teenager at that time, when I saw the images on the game it looks rather interesting so I thought to myself that might as well play it blind, few hours in I was so hooked on the game, the way they introduce with the introduction, the characters, the atmosphere I just fell it love with it instantly, let's talk about the introduction, look I know that every intro in a game won't just make you extremely excited about the game but to me its the opposite (kinda), while I do feel "extremely excited" just from the introduction that they've giving us i can't just be excited yet cause well it's a intro you can't just feel that way on your first blindthrough of the game (at least that's how I perceive myself whenever I play games without any knowledge on it), now with the characters, I like how every characters that they introduced have different types of personalities, I won't spoil the character's name but we can give a few, character 1 is a very outgoing person she mainly likes to fight the enemies more so than doing the puzzles, character 2 is a smart person that always talk about science things, like whenever theres an animal in a game he likes to talk about it, that's all for the examples of the characters in the game (I would love to add more but I think its best for you to experience it rather than me explaining this to you), now on to the atmostphere it is one of the prettiest I've ever seen in a 2d game and the way that they fit the ost well in different types of region is a chef's kiss, I know that I may not be an expert when it comes to reviewing any story based games cause I don't play a lot of story based games (I'm poor, whenever I see a story based game and it cost like around 50-100 above in my country) so take this as a grain of salt, at that time I already "finish" the game (it was still in early access so basically the story hasn't finished yet) and man what a ride, like I really enjoy the game so much that I really can't wait for the dlc, time has passed by and I was just randomly scrolling to the steam store, then suddenly my brain just shows be a memory where I play crosscode, after that I was like man I should check that game back I wanna see if there's any update/dlc content, once I search the game there's a dlc on it and I instantly bought it, afterwards I download the game and then press play on it and man it feels like it has never change and I just fell I love with the game again, I haven't finish the game yet but I just wanted to review this game because of how much it means to me (like seriously though it does and I want to thank the developers of this game that create such an unforgettable game), this game is underappreciated and deserves a lot of attention, looking back, I am so glad I took my brother's recommendation and went into CrossCode completely blind. It has easily become one of my favorite 2D gaming experiences. If you love unforgettable characters, stunning pixel art, and a phenomenal soundtrack, do yourself a huge favor skip the guides, play it blind, and experience this masterpiece for yourself!

The game plays very well. It has a good sense of progression both in the skill trees and equipment but also in the player's game sense and skill. There is a bit too much grinding for materials in my opinion, but once you swallow your pride and lower the difficulty settings, you can afford to not do it as much. The story lasted a lot longer than I expected, even without the DLC. It came to a point where I was forcing myself to play to finish it, because I was told the post-game DLC is very good (which it is). That did take away from my experience somewhat. Overall a very good game. Slightly dizzying to look at the terrain really hard to find how to get up there on just about every area of the game.
戰鬥手感很卡,解謎不難卻要求用很刁鑽的角度射擊,玩起來非常難受。6/10
太喜欢了,这就是我梦寐以求的游戏,解密量大管饱,剧情也有触动,爱了爱了
