A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

Reviews
Might be many years too late to write a review, but the game truly deserves it, and I was playing back through the game for the fun of it, and man, I love the story so damn much, the gameplay is awesome, the exploration is fun and has a lot of payoff, if by chance you are reading this review and you haven't played this game before, which given it's the year 2026 for this game made almost 10 years ago, would be surprising, but play it, it's worth your time, if you're still hesitant, just add it to your wishlist and wait for a sale for all I care, just play it.
Un RPG frenetico con una historia que me hizo reir y llorar en partes iguales, rapidamente se convirtio en mi juego rpg favorito y si tienen la oportunidad de jugarlo por favor disfruten de esta joya infravalorada :3

Cool game, cool puzzles, cool story
One of the best ARPGs i've played in a while.

So much love put in this game and it is fun. But it is too hard too many times. Thank god you can lower time frames in puzzles and enemies strength in the settings.
I honestly don't even know where to begin, so I'll just get straight to the point: CrossCode is one of the best games I've ever played. Easily one of my all-time Top 10, and that's not an exaggeration. Originally born as a small HTML indie project back in 2011, CrossCode went through years of refinement, crowdfunding, and Early Access before finally releasing in its complete form in 2018, followed by the excellent 'A New Home' expansion in 2021. It's difficult to talk about the story without spoiling it, but here's the premise: you play as Lea, a mysterious girl trapped inside an MMORPG called CrossWorlds. Unable to remember her past, she embarks on a journey to recover her lost memories while uncovering a much larger mystery. Along the way, you'll meet an unforgettable cast of well-written characters as the game explores surprisingly mature themes, including the ethics of scientific research, the impact of emerging technologies on people's lives, and profound existential questions that challenge the very definition of humanity. Visually, CrossCode draws heavy inspiration from classic 16-bit JRPGs like Alundra, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. Gameplay-wise, however, it is an absolute masterpiece of design. Its greatest strengths lie in its intricate vertical exploration, incredibly fluid combat system, and some of the most elaborate physics-based environmental puzzles I've ever encountered. The dungeons will test both your reflexes and your brain in equal measure. For a game that takes up less than a gigabyte of disk space, CrossCode offers more meaningful content than countless bloated AAA games from publishers like Ubisoft. I spent an absurd number of hours earning every achievement, and I enjoyed almost every minute of it. CrossCode excels in virtually every department. The gorgeous pixel art is packed with detail and personality. Exploration is constantly rewarding thanks to its diverse biomes and brilliantly designed temples. Combat offers an impressive amount of build variety through its elemental skill trees, while the Arena, countless enemy encounters, and spectacular boss fights provide an outstanding balance between action and strategy. And then there's the lore. Rich, layered, and consistently well-written, it operates on multiple levels: Lea's personal story, the relationships she builds with friends, rivals, and guildmates, the history and mechanics of the game world itself, the behind-the-scenes secrets of Instatainment—the company behind CrossWorlds—and, of course, the mystery surrounding Lea's own existence. The 'A New Home' DLC, available after completing the game with the good ending, is far more than a simple epilogue. It significantly expands the story, gameplay mechanics, and lore while adding roughly twenty hours of high-quality content. If you enjoy games that demand exploration, quick reflexes, and genuine problem-solving skills, CrossCode is an absolute must-play. It is one of those rare indie games that confidently stands shoulder to shoulder with the very best the genre has to offer.
Crosscode is a very charming indie game with great combat and exploration. I liked the art style and storyline. My main complaint is just that it is a bit too long.
Very pleasing combat, dialogues aren't bad, the puzzles tho, do escalate well, but err... ...there are quite a few puzzles, but since accessibility settings exist I can't complain about it and should instead complain on the fact I'm way too stubborn. Still, great game so far! PS: My achievements aren't unlocking, but I'm on Linux, so that must be it.
