A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

The game is okay, but there's a lot of 'content' that's basically only there to pad the length of the game. For example, having to go a long distance around just to get the hard to access items, where if you slip and fall you have to go all the way back to the beginning. There's also a decent amount of boring fetch quests

Randomizing and clearing my backlog- 42/343 I’m gonna give this a thumbs up solely for the reason that I see this game has a lot of heart and can be a great game if you like this kind of game. For me, it’s just not it. I got frustrated 2 hours in. The combat is frustrating, I hate the puzzles, but again, that’s just me.
Highly reccomend! So much love was put into this game and you can tell. I can't wait to finish it and I will enjoy every hour of it. I didn't play many action RPGs before this so it's one of my first impressions and it's really getting me into the genre, the gameplay is incredibly fluid and satisfying to play. The item collection and upgrading mechanics are amazing, and so is the streak mechanic. Every aspect of the game was very clearly thought up and tested, and it meshes together so well. The music (OST) is just masterpiece after masterpiece. The main negatives are that the colors are washed out on some devices (steam deck OLED for me). I found a fix on one of these forums, but it's basically just turning off HDR with a command, then running it in proton in the settings. Additionally, a big chunk of the story/characters are really corny but I grew to like them. The main culprit of this is Emilie, and it's mostly because the french words added in intermittently at the beginning and ends of her sentences seem really unnatural to me, and it becomes glaringly obvious as a french speaker. I tried to switch the game's language to french in hopes that it would stop somehow, but lo and behold, there was no french option lol. Overall, these problems are either easily fixable or things that I have grown to accept as quirks. I hope the rest of u will enjoy the game as much as I am rn : D
Tedious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste of time.
