30 dollars for a mod? This should be (AT MOST) 10 dollars. There are only 5 maps. Its fun, but where is the content for 30 dollars? Also, there is hardly anyone playing it. I do not recommend spending money on this (Unless its on sale) and I have every Company of Heroes game.
Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand is... okay. I don't have any prior experience with the Company of Heroes franchise, but this caught my attention because I enjoy roguelites and wave defense games. From my perspective, I actually appreciate that this was released as a standalone experience rather than simply being added as another mode to Company of Heroes 3. That said, I find it difficult to justify the price. The overall package feels underwhelming and more like an unfinished game mode than a fully realized standalone title. With only five maps and limited progression, there just isn't much to keep you coming back. The core gameplay is enjoyable, though, and there's definitely a solid foundation here. If the developers continue to add quality-of-life improvements, more content, and expand on the existing systems, Final Stand could become something really worthwhile. For now, it's a fun concept that feels like it needed more time in development before being released.

Rational review after several matches: Don't mind that they made this stand-alone so players can play it, may enjoy it, and then get the base game. More players = better. Was it silly that they released it without matchmaking? Yeah absolutely. But they have stated they will have that fixed by the end of the week so problem solved. As far as the game itself is concerned you have four factions to choose from and then you proceed to try to survive round after round while the game gives you random cards to choose from (units, passive and active abilities) making each run somewhat unique. I say somewhat because you aren't going to find the expansive list of cards here like Hades or something but it is still quite fun. Sometimes you get awesome cards and have a great run and other times you get not great cards and get rekt (at least for someone of my mid skill level). Each run you get points depending on how well you did but always get rewarded making every run worthwhile. You use said points to pick permanent upgrades for your faction which you can reset whenever and try different things out. Each map has a few (3-5) outposts out beyond your headquarters that you can are valuable to protect and serve as med station, reinforce points. One of the early upgrades in the permanent upgrade tree makes these more and more useful (add mg, and bazooka, add engineer to self-repair, add manpower bonus). The upgrades definitely are worthwhile and I think absolutely needed to survive at the higher difficulty levels which go above elite several times. I have been having fun with it and enjoy roguelite progression. I can see myself coming back to this again and again, especially after multiplayer matches where I got my butt kicked. As far as price I think it should have been $10-$15 for COH3 owners and $20-25 for rest. I'm still glad I got it, though.
TLDR it's terrible. It feel like they cut corners everywhere they could. And if you only want the skins, you will need to play borning and repetetive mode for a realy long time, I would guess that around 10h for 1 fraction. If ur fovourite content creator said that they like the gamemode check if they are sponsored. First of all, I have to say that the person that thought that removing basebuilding from base defence mode should GC. Even tho the enemies are randomized every game feels the same, every map feels the same, everything feels borning. The thing that is different are the units, both from the base game, and from each other. The units differ from counterparts from the base game in the most lazy and borning way. I still haven't every unit but already tried krieg marines. They got rid of the tower, yes the tower that is core to making them work in multi, the defensive structure that would be perfect for this mode, Whos idea was that XD? Also tiger ace can't get 4th star for some reason. Why? Cuz no fun allowed. And btw I didn't see any positive changes in any unit the best they did was not changing anything at all. If u compare units in this mode some units are ultra trash some are broken, there is 0 balance 0 fun choices, you have to take the broken thing if you want to win, it also makes the game rng in the bad way. Back to maps, in all of those enemies come from one side from 3 spawn points, it makes all of the maps fell the same, they could not give us a map with base on the middle where enemies come from all sides or something simmilar to the one single player mission in coh2 where u had to defend a bridge and they attack you from 2 sides, it was so peak. Also if you thought that u will see or get to use some new cool units, like they showed 221 with 20mm guns in gameplay demo. You will be disapointed I still have not seen any new unit, 0 campaign exclusives, 0 units hiden in game files, only the bosses are a bit diffrent. The AI, is just stupid asf, AT guns even preaty often ignore ur tanks just move past them. The random events, those just make make the game even more annoying, they spam them all the time making it another repetetive thing. They put 0 creativity in the upgrades, ur units have more hp, more dmg in buildings, all the things that are easiest to code. 0 new content. Also wish we had something cooler to defend that emptied 105 emplacements and a tent, they could railgun, planes, bunker, armored train, some building, trucks, ships, but ofc they gave us tent to defent I think that making a gamemode like this fun is realy ambicious project, they would need to add a lot of new stuff to make it interesting, but if executed correctly it could be entertaining for houndreds of hours, But they did not even try, campaign missions were 100 times more entertaining than this, and the progression was better 2. Only positive thing is that u get packet of skins for every fraction in price of one pack if you pay with game currency, but this means that everyone will have them, or would cuz at this point I belive that many people will refund or not complete the challanges. If you like this mode and dissagre with my opinion honestly I don't give a sht there is something wrong with you, It got spawned only cuz ppl begged in yt comment sections for new PvE content for years, I think the best relic could do is realese another campaign, but not dynamic one for sure. Or even new game on the same engine, Imagine Company of Heros 3 Easter Front, where Russia fight vs Germany with new campaigns, multi and fractions. If you never played company of heros avoid this is the worst place to start
For this price, the game is a huge disappointment. You can only play with two players, even though you used to be able to play with up to four. These kinds of games are usually played with four people, so this limitation makes no sense. Very disappointing. I do not recommend it.
Quick thoughts. I'd make a CoH3 Wave Survival game with the following features. - No Difficulty Selection (You choose wave strenght, Weak, Strong, Extreme, Impossible.) You get rewarded for surviving the wave depending on your selection. - Building only during Preperation Time (Instant build, Instant upgrade.) - You can start the wave when ready (You do not gain passive income, at the end depending on the wave you get resources) - the card picks are set on first pick. You have to pick a hero type character to start with. Then you will get passive buffs / abilities for that character. After 6 Waves you can choose a new hero and get 6 more upgrades or you can upgrade already chosen hero to become stronger with 6 more upgrades. - Enemies will look at your hero and setup counter tactics (1 hero is more likely to get countered. 2 heroes give you a tactical advantage.) - Make a challenge mode where if u have a lot of something dynamic events will start to even the odds. a lot of bunkers? X bunkers get destroyed by 5 V1 missiles. What they made. - Spawn nodes with a set of troops to spawn. - Attack Waypoint on HQ. - Random unhinged upgrades that seems like they look at what you have in your pool and give an upgrade according to it. - A tiny perk tree which kinda chooses your strategy for you. What did they not do? - Make new models. - Make a better AI. - Make an interesting wave defense DLC. This feels like a fan made mod which someone made over the weekend. Not worth the price.
Absolut unkreativer Cashgrab.
It is definitely fun and a different experience compared to normal RTS games, by using Roguelike elements. BUT, if this is the only content and state of this "Game" (more like a Mod, really) it really isn't worth it right now, especially for the price. This should have been a free addon mode, not a "Standalone" game that is half the price of the original game. I was also very interested in the Endless mode after completing 12 rounds, but there is no point in doing it. You don't get additional upgrade points and the Roguelike elements stop with round 12. There just needs to be a lot more content to justify this price. If you want to play a Survival Defense gamemode, just look at the Workshop for a mod.
