I was squealing like a schoolgirl who had just met her idol when I first saw the announcement message from Joseph "Kane" Kucan himself on Youtube. (EA doing fanservice with no strings attached? Has hell frozen over??) This duo of games are basically the grandfather, the Doom of RTS genre, starring banger soundtrack from the equally legendary Frank Klepacki, and the gameplay is just like I remember it, from back when I was in high-school. Anyway, if you're a fan of RTS games, can 100% recommend this.

The remaster textures just don't work for me. Everything looks terrible and the terrain tiles have seams at the edges. So I had to keep this 27GB install, just to revert to the 90's textures since at least they look more consistent. Is the original even worth the effort of this broken remaster? Not really. It's old and missing many basic modern features of modern RTS. The unit design is incredibly bland. Just play Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2, which are much better games, and have aged better than this.
