Reviews
it may not be for everyone, but i really enjoy the game play, searching through the registry while passive searching to identify ships and subs through their acustic signature, trying to fire off the torps in the enemies baffles so as not to be detected, it requires patience that i sometimes dont have but its still enjoyable to have to run like hell because 20 torps got dropped on you and are tracking your rear end.
haha funny Alfa class go brrrrrrrrrr

iT IS A GREAT GAME. LOT OF THINKING TO WIN.
Very good game. I played Red Storm Rising decades ago, when it came out, on an Amiga 500. I loved that game and came across a review for another game recently where someone described Cold Waters as the successor to Red Storm Rising. I have to say that it plays just like it, but on steroids. I have tried both the Epic mod and Dotmod, and prefer the Dotmod. I would recommend this game and the Dotmod.
one of the greatest submarine games in the world even better with dotmod
good controls
lovely
ood game for modern submarine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
first time ear blasting myself with active sonar I will never forget
Cold Waters puts you in the role of a submarine commander in a hypothetical Third World War scenario at sea. The game, described by the developer itself as a spiritual successor to the "Red Storm Rising" title from the Tom Clancy universe, takes you back to either 1968, 1984 or 2000 and lets you play the various types of submarine ships of the USSR, USA and China from the respective period. The tutorials could be improved and will demand a lot of patience from some players. At the beginning, the game often thrives on trial and error, or sometimes pure luck. The textures and graphics look good, and whilst it is not an issue in deeper waters of the Pacific or North Atlantic, the seabed and topography in shallower waters in general needs to be much more detailed and will hopefully be added in a future update. The selection of submarines is also still very limited. It would be fun to be able to command SSBNs or surface ships instead of "only" fighting them. However, anyone who has overcome their thalassophobia, has a knack for the complex management of their submarine and has mastered the various systems on board will love this game, which is all about strategy and tactics. If the developer could now come up with a multiplayer mode, that would be the cherry on top. Propably the best naval-based game on Steam, and an all-around well achieved balance between tactics and action. UPDATE: Even though it's not an official mod, I can highly recommend the EPIC MOD for this game (download at your own risk!). What the official developers didn't manage to do, the mod delivers: Significantly more submarines, dozens of new missions and even the option to command ships on the surface. Even the sailors on deck get the chance to take on annoying helicopters and aeroplanes in the air with portable anti-aircraft missiles! The level of detail and ingenuity is simply brilliant and worth checking out!
