Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 21 → 2/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A unique and beautiful strategy rpg. the game mixes turn based strategy with real time movement and shooting, making the battles feel much more dynamic and fun than a traditional strategy game. the story is also really good and emotional, with memorable characters and a beautiful anime inspired art style that makes everything look like a living painting. theres a lot of strategy involved in choosing your units and figuring out the best way to approach each battlefield, so every mission feels different and satisfying!!

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

~7.5/10~
I didn’t expect much from Valkyria Chronicles, but everything changed after I played it! This RTS JRPG has held the top spot on my list since I enjoy every turn-based game, but Valkyria Chronicles has a special place in my heart. The story, character, level design, weapon choices, and art style was unbelievable amazing and i didn't know this game had an anime that was release in 2009 with 26 episode total which you can play and finish the whole anime in this game. Being honest i always skip cutscene and naration in game but for Valkyria Chronicles i didn't skip a singel cutscene & naration and i enjoyed the story. If you enjoy Turn-based game like X-com, Fire emblem, Persona series i recomend this game! Pros :

Unique art style
Enjoyable storyline + Report eps, whic theres some missing part on the main story but you can see it from the Report episode.
Plenty of weapon choices and upgrades as you progress through the story.
Challenging gameplay for each chapter to another, and you need to use diff strategy for each chapter but after you finish newgame+ you can finish each chapter in singel turn with the walking tower (Alicia).
Orders, this is my fav feature in the game since it provide you a lot of buff that you can stack up for your troops and really helpfull through hard chapter.
Saving game feature in the midle of battle. This feature help me a lot saving times in game battle since you will miss some attack or failed to trigger passive skill and you can load the save game without restarting the game from the begining.
Cons :

"RNG" why? because this game will provide you with passive skill char that can be triggered randomly except you unlock specific orders to trigger it. Another thing is when you aim the weapon on the head or your lancer aim to the enemy tank you still can miss it so.. good luck.
Slow paced enemy turn and you can't skip it but don't worry since enemy sometimes will skip their turn after few move.
Wobly and weird tank control. Sometimes Edelweiss & Shamrock will woble and move weirdly and if you unlucky sometimes you will stuck.
Unscaled newgame+. on the newgame+ enemy level are not scaled with our late game troops and everything feels so easy since the game want us to collecting gear from enemy ace that we missed but atleast in newgame+ you unlock hard mode and expert in skirmish for a lil bit of challenge.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3591356775 Overall, in my personal opinion, Valkyria Chronicles is a masterpiece and an unforgettable JRPG. I will miss Isara Gunther, Selvaria Bles, Faldio Landzaat & Frederic klein 🕊️.
Game is advertised on both its store page and ProtonDB as having verified support on Linux under proton. It doesn't. Unacceptable levels of stuttering and audio flickering even with the newest version of Proton-GE as of writing this. If you're on a Linux machine, don't even bother. At least on my setup, it just won't run at an acceptable level. Save your money.

Alright. To start off with, I didn't finish this game. And I don't want to even after telling myself for months I have to get back into it. I got to chapter 14 before deciding that the game is just not for me. Why? Simple. The game pretends to be a tactical rpg, but it isn't. It's more like a tactical puzzle game, by the late game you basically have to have the ideal squad setup in order to finish most missions. I expected valkriya chronicles to be like anime xcom or silent storm, but it ended up being a game mostly based around gimmicks and puzzles. Chapter 14 is a BIG example of this, and is why I gave up on the game. You finish the first objectives fine enough, but then the game asspulls two tanks and reinforcements out of nowhere, because apparently the imperial army are Russians who can order a general mobilization at anytime to draft fresh men who teleport instantly to your location. Chapter 7 also has this issue, and some other chapters I don't remember because it's been a while since I played the game. It basically amounts to cheese. You are not going to be immersed, you're not going to be drawn into this desperate war. You are going to be a cheesing scumlord who needs to do so in order to actually win. The story is... Fine? I suppose. With my JJK pfp I might not look like a literate person, but it's not as deep as it pretends to be, nor or is it as emotional and insightful as white boy youtubers like to claim it is. It's just fine, the anime does the story better in my opinion. It asks nothing, it answers nothing and it ultimately brings nothing new to the table. If you watched a single "war is bad and such" movie in your life you will basically know every plot hook of this game. What else? You don't really get any information going into missions past like, chapter 5 or 6. This goes back to my first point. You don't get information and the rules change suddenly with you having no clue it was going to happen, so a lot of the time the team you bring to a mission ends up being useless, or they die instantly by once again teleporting ZOV troopers spawning on their location. This happened to me the first time I played chapter 6, you'd expect the supermassive ratte tank to be the main gimmick of the fight, but once you destroy the radiators Echidna from re zero teleports into the battle along with her elite death squad. If you have troopers near their locations; you have to restart. It's not smart, it's not interesting. It's just throwing infinite curveballs at the player for no reason and saying "see how hard and tactical this game is? I bet you didn't see that coming!" I'm not stranger to strategy or tactical rpgs, but my god. That's not a fair challenge. It's like boxing someone with someone who suddenly puts on brass knuckles for a "challenge." As such, the game doesn't encourage any sense of creativity or tactical thinking at all past the early game. YOU WILL get stuck eventually on a level, look at the game over screen and say "What the ♥♥♥♥?! How are you meant to do this?!" The game has one set method to finish most missions. There is no reason to not simply bring mostly scouts, 2 shocktroopers ( 1 of them only for free AP ) and MAYBE 1 engineer to heal the tank. Snipers in some levels that require sniper cheese. Lancers are useless, and only useful, once again, for cheese depending on the level. This is not smart or creative, this is being forced into a specific playstyle and if you steer away from it you will either die or get a D rank for playing too smart. Due to this, the game feels like a strategy game made by developers who have never played a single strategy or tactical game in their lives. They know it needs to be some level of difficult, so by chapter 6 onwards they just start throwing curveballs and constantly change the rules of missions. They didn't know how to rank a players performance in a war game, so they decide that blitzkrieg is the best method for a ranking system. The previous two points tie into the game's biggest issue, the ranking is based on speed. Not how little damage you take, not how much you kill or if anyone on your team got downed or died. It's based on min maxxing Alicia to simply kill and rush the objective points on most maps, so if you want to get any good rewards or achievement hunt you're forced to just break any sense of immersion in the game and play it like a round of rainbow six siege. If you don't want to grind, or cheat, your money you as a first timer you will have to follow a walkthrough to ace every level following this exact same tactic. Which just removes the fun. The characters are boring. The main two characters are flat and pretty one, or two dimensional at best. The most development you get for characters in this game is "maybe being racist is bad..." Maybe for japan this is MINDBLOWING writing, but it just falls flat. The most interesting/fun characters are the side characters you recruit into your penal battalion, but they barely count as characters. ♥♥♥♥ YOU especially General Gregor and Damon. What else? The movement is buggy, the shooting is buggy. People pretended rng isn't there for shooting as well, but it very much is. Sometimes I had soldiers literally exploring each others bodies and yet they still miss. Ok, maybe it was TOO close for realism's sakes. I back away, survive the enemies turn. Fire again. Miss again. Generally, I dislike rng in tactical games as a whole. I understand the point of them, but it isn't enjoyable in any sense but that's more personal than anything. This game DOES have perma death, but unless you have a green beret commando soldier miles away from the team it will literally never happen. Maybe to Alicia as that is how she is used by most people, but if she dies it doesn't matter because it's a game over anyways if her hp bar gets to zero. The funniest part? The gallian military apparently has medicine far ahead of our time, being able to heal a nearly dead bleeding out soldier in the span of a single turn and being discharged instantly to be sent back into the fire once again. So one of the biggest themes you'd expect from a WAR game, losing your men and feeling responsible for it, falls flat on it's face due to the fact that it will basically never happen and soldiers don't care if they were on the ground sputtering for their mom just 5 minutes prior. What did I like? Despite it's issues the combat can be fun, the side characters are cool, the tank is fun to use and the levels that aren't gimmicks are fun as well. TLDR: More like a tactical puzzle game than an tactial strategy game or rpg, story falls flat, main characters fall flat, combat is bugged and sometimes rng will ♥♥♥♥ you bad. Game is basically trying to find out the game's gimmicks and quirks via google or replaying a mission. This review, if seen, will probably be rated funny by people who love this game as it's considered "One of the best games ever" by some people. But this is my take on the game, maybe the fourth is better.

Valkyria Chronicles is a game I missed out on the PS3 . Years later I got the Steam version finally made time this year to beat the the game. As you get invested in the story both Weikin and Alicia get caught up in war surviving the hard times in the struggle. You met your fellow comrades in arms as you battle fighting for your homeland to live in peace. I must say these comrades are to ride and die for to the very end that is how much I love this crew of characters . For a tactical role-playing game it's really fun so enjoyable as you enter into combat on the battlefield. You be wanting to also train to prepare for combat as well to get powerful weapons and upgrade your tank as well. Valkyria Chronicles to end this review off I will say "these cast of characters I truly will never forget these characters as they stand out fighting for the greater cause for their country homeland and their freedom". Valkyria Chronicles is a game deserves so much eyes and attention truly worthy of greatness .
Valkyria Chronicles is a game I went into with zero nostalgia. This is a completely first-time experience many years after its initial launch, and it has now earned a place among my favorite JRPGs, sitting comfortably alongside titles like Xenogears, Mother 3, Chrono Trigger, the NieR series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails series, and the Yakuza series. I consider the combat somewhat flawed, with certain scenarios leading to frustration, but it remains contextually enjoyable for the war setting it supports. Despite those frustrations, I was never bored, and it helped that everything else about the game was utterly charming. The characters are the heart of Valkyria Chronicles. As someone who has grown increasingly tired of modern JRPG character writing, it was refreshing to return to an era where characters didn’t need to be overly quirky or eccentric to be interesting. Instead, they’re straightforward, pleasant, and instantly likable as a team. When a JRPG cast creates that “band of close companions” feeling, it naturally carries the experience, and in this case, it does so beautifully. The main plot itself is what I’d call serviceable, but it’s punctuated by memorable shocks, escalations, and emotional moments that land because of the time you’ve spent with Squad 7. To say the cast carries the experience would be accurate, but there’s another area where the game truly excels: Presentation. The animated cutscenes are gorgeous. The cel-shaded approach gives the game a timeless quality that still holds up today. In an era where many modern games rely solely on in-engine scenes, it was refreshing to see genuine effort poured into key cinematic moments. Even the simpler dialogue panel sequences feel intentional, helping conserve resources so that the major scenes can shine. Nearly everything is voiced, which is a huge plus. Too often, games commit to voice acting inconsistently, but Valkyria Chronicles follows through. That consistency goes a long way in maintaining immersion. And the music? Exceptional. As a fan of Hitoshi Sakimoto’s work on Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, it was a pleasure to experience another standout soundtrack from him, even if I’m many years late. Overall, I’m very glad I finally experienced this game. While it has some mechanical rough edges, it more than makes up for them through its characters, world, atmosphere, and emotional payoff. If you’re the kind of player who values character-driven storytelling and a strong sense of place, Valkyria Chronicles is absolutely worth your time.
