About
Collect awesome monsters to use during turn-based battles in this open-world RPG. Combine any two monster forms using Cassette Beasts’ Fusion System to create unique and powerful new ones!
Welcome to New Wirral, a remote island inhabited by strange creatures you’ve only dreamed of, nightmares you hopefully haven’t, and a cast of brave folks who use cassette tapes to transform for battle. To find a way home you’ll need to explore every inch of the island, and record monsters to your trusty cassette tapes to gain their abilities!
Faced with the constant threat of monster attacks, the residents of Harbourtown, New Wirral choose to fight fire with fire. Record a monster to tape, then play it back to take on its form for battle!
Getting close to your companion has benefits–while transformed you can combine your strengths to gain the upper hand in battle! Any two monster forms can be fused to produce unique, fully-animated new fusion forms.
Certain monster abilities can be used in human form. You’ll need these to help you get around, solve puzzles, and locate dungeons. Glide, fly, swim, climb, dash, or turn magnetic! Take on the Gauntlet – a never-ending battle mode where you’ll face fearsome enemies for precious material and glory!

Never fight alone! Form bonds, spend time together, and help your selected partner complete personal goals to become a better team. The strength of your relationship determines how well you’re able to fuse!
Take advantage of elemental chemistry to apply extra buffs or debuffs alongside your attack, or even alter your opponent’s elemental type!
Team up with a friend in local multiplayer to explore, transform, and fight together!
Party up with Online Multiplayer to trade monster tapes, challenge your friends to 1v1 battles, and team up to take on powerful Rogue Fusion beasts for great rewards!

The only comnplaint I have is that as of June 15 2026, there's scenes and effects that will cause problems for people with photosensitivity , including a black background with colored lights shooting past on the character creaton menu, and while there is an in-game setting to remove "glitch effects' from boss fights, this setting blends in a lot, and isn't listed under an accessability header to make it stand out, and only affects boss fight effects, not the normal battle animations that include a lot of quick zooming and shaking of the screen. If more accessability options can be added, and noted on the home screen, it would make this game pretty much perfect! A super fun creature collector, with a very fun and interesting battle system! Fantastic music and concepts all around, I'm telling all my friends about it!
It's not a great start when I have to force myself to finish a game and hope I Stockholm syndrome myself into liking it..... And I did not end up liking it. Most of the combat, mobility, and damage/move RNG is so clunky and tedious. Most of the time, the fights end up dragging on longer than they should because a move keeps hitting despite hitting a CB straight to sub-zero health along with the moves being painfully slow and somewhat repetitive. There is little incentive to venture out and experiment with moves once you get Last Rites, Zephyr, or any electric move. Electric types are very very unbalanced and the main downside to using them is damn near every move gives them unitarget. If you don't get unitarget, most electric moves are unstoppable and give crazy team damage. The OST is fine but it either sounds all the same or my game kept playing the same track over and over and over again. It would be good if it varied at all but maybe I'm spoiled since I played Tomb Raider (2013) and Elden Ring before this, two games with incredible soundtracks. The pixel animation is cool, its one of the few things I actually like. It really bothered me when the character sprites changed animation style to some crappy webtoon style animation, if you want to do a Stardew Valley-esc character conversation just do the same animation they do: slightly smoothed out pixels. I'm not complaining about the Archangels since that makes sense story wise but why are the general characters/companions dialogue sprites so smooth?? I did like the cassette beasts designs, I think my favorites were Traffikrab, Muskrateer, Fungogh, and all the chess pieces. I liked the "shiny" system, makes it more interesting than just a color change. I probably will not touch this game again unless I think I want to reevaluate my opinion or the sequel comes out and I become a glutton for punishment. I'm all for supporting indie devs and I'm glad I paid $10 for this, but I probably wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless they really enjoy the tedious painful parts of Pokemon and most pixel games. Every market we collect.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.57/day in the week to Jul 22 → 2.75/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
