No menu at the start, no monitor option in the menu, my controller just randomly vibrates.
Pleasantly surprised by this game, as I thought this would be another rushed Pokemon clone. Monster and character design is quite good, minus some repetitive looking fusion results. The leveling is pretty fast, the quests were good (although some are weird), the soundtracks (voiced or not) are great, and the finale was pretty hype. I completed the game in about 20 hours on hard, and I'm not sure how lengthy the post-game is (unlocked the request board, some very high level bosses and a 100-battles challenge). Also, I'm definitely getting the sequel when it releases.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This, to me, is one of the best creature collector games out there, particularly if you like Legend of Zelda style exploration. There's plenty of puzzles to untangle, a well-written story about a multiverse entangling, and lots of cool monsters to collect and battle with. The move system is deep and interesting to engage with. You can make some really fun combos with the sticker system.
My time with Cassette Beats was great, I really enjoyed my time playing the game to completion! Althought theres some things I feel I should mention for anyone wanting to journey into Cassette Beasts: The games style and feel felt like it would've been better suited for a non linear story, the catching creatures feels great however what didnt do it for me was the travelling around the map, some areas can feel a little empty, certain paths or areas felt visually flat and unfinished, my favourite area in the game has to be the forest area on the top of the map, its just full and its very filled visually compared to the other areas of the world. The ending felt like a proper battle you'd have during J-RPG but it felt out of place from the rest of the game, I really do wish for their 2002 game coming, they lean more into the story elements more as the relationships and building characters up in my opinion is always the funnest part of the game, seeing them level as the relationship grew just tickles my brain, and makes me enjoy the characters more. The Type and battle system is freakin AWESOME ngl, granted during my playthrough of 31 hours I did no use every move or type in the game, but seeing the interactions with the turn based system, the type interactions are far better and more interesting in changing the combat encounters, than games like pokemon. The Vibes are very chill, there where four music artists who made the music for the game and I'm sad to say only some of the songs I jeled with, for average enemies the music gets very repetitive quick making range battles feel more unique with their unique music they get, I felt as if it started to drive me crazy hearing the same music going back in areas I had already been to, but over all, the soundtrack when your trying to become captain of the rangers is peak imo. This may be my opinion so be warned, The wobbly text that vibrates and moves when a large creature or entitiy is talking hurt my eyes and with it being so large I felt as if I needed to try harder to read simply lines of dialogue, I'm an avid book reader and it made me actually feel dizzy trying to read text like that, idk if thats the point or not but jeeze, I'd say only make certain worlds that matter the most for characters dialogue shake or have it be a different color at least. An extra pointer I gotta give credit for is having a great UI, some games skip out of a good UI and it can make or break a game, thankfully Cassette Beasts has a fantastic UI, everything is just mwah (I kissed it uwu) Overall Id say the strongest things going for this game is the unique artstyle, the creatures and animations, the battle system / type system and the relationships + the UI, progression also feels pretty cool capturing creatures gives you better world travelling skills which I thought was clever, why isnt Pokemon doing that naturally, Cassette Beasts did it best instead of silly TM surf to swim nah just grab the seal BAMB water is no longer a fear :3 I gotta give Cassette Beasts a solid 7.6/10 Alot may enjoy it, but only some with finish it. (Thanks for Reading, Zyphreon out)
I cannot recommend this to lesbian pokemon fans enough but truthfully theres a lil something something for everyone in there. Its a little light on content but not bad if your bored of poke rom hacks
great music, good monster designs, interesting idea on type effects and ok dialog. In my opion a good game worth the money but a warning the type effects CAN make battles annoying
The only comnplaint I have is that as of June 15 2026, there's scenes and effects that will cause problems for people with photosensitivity , including a black background with colored lights shooting past on the character creaton menu, and while there is an in-game setting to remove "glitch effects' from boss fights, this setting blends in a lot, and isn't listed under an accessability header to make it stand out, and only affects boss fight effects, not the normal battle animations that include a lot of quick zooming and shaking of the screen. If more accessability options can be added, and noted on the home screen, it would make this game pretty much perfect! A super fun creature collector, with a very fun and interesting battle system! Fantastic music and concepts all around, I'm telling all my friends about it!
It's not a great start when I have to force myself to finish a game and hope I Stockholm syndrome myself into liking it..... And I did not end up liking it. Most of the combat, mobility, and damage/move RNG is so clunky and tedious. Most of the time, the fights end up dragging on longer than they should because a move keeps hitting despite hitting a CB straight to sub-zero health along with the moves being painfully slow and somewhat repetitive. There is little incentive to venture out and experiment with moves once you get Last Rites, Zephyr, or any electric move. Electric types are very very unbalanced and the main downside to using them is damn near every move gives them unitarget. If you don't get unitarget, most electric moves are unstoppable and give crazy team damage. The OST is fine but it either sounds all the same or my game kept playing the same track over and over and over again. It would be good if it varied at all but maybe I'm spoiled since I played Tomb Raider (2013) and Elden Ring before this, two games with incredible soundtracks. The pixel animation is cool, its one of the few things I actually like. It really bothered me when the character sprites changed animation style to some crappy webtoon style animation, if you want to do a Stardew Valley-esc character conversation just do the same animation they do: slightly smoothed out pixels. I'm not complaining about the Archangels since that makes sense story wise but why are the general characters/companions dialogue sprites so smooth?? I did like the cassette beasts designs, I think my favorites were Traffikrab, Muskrateer, Fungogh, and all the chess pieces. I liked the "shiny" system, makes it more interesting than just a color change. I probably will not touch this game again unless I think I want to reevaluate my opinion or the sequel comes out and I become a glutton for punishment. I'm all for supporting indie devs and I'm glad I paid $10 for this, but I probably wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless they really enjoy the tedious painful parts of Pokemon and most pixel games.
