About

Carnival Hunt is a 5v1 first-person asymmetrical horror game set within a twisted carnival world created by the Puppetmaster.
Five players become fragile wind-up Bunnies who must work together, complete objectives, and find a way to escape. One player becomes the Carnival Monster, hunting them before they can complete their performance.
Both sides depend on their wind-up charge to survive. Bunnies must manage limited keys and keep one another moving, while the Monster must capture Bunnies and consume their keys to remain active.
Every key makes noise. Every mistake can reveal your position. Every second brings the performance closer to its end.
Work together as a team of five wind-up Bunnies.
Complete objectives, explore the map, share resources, and coordinate your escape before the Carnival Monster finds you.
The Bunnies are not powerful fighters. Survival depends on teamwork, careful movement, resource management, and knowing when to hide.
A separated Bunny is an easy target.
Your wind-up charge gradually runs down throughout the match.
Use keys to keep yourself moving, wind up your teammates, and activate important mechanisms. Keys are limited, and using them creates noise that can reveal your location to the Monster.
Spend them carelessly, and your team may not have enough charge to escape.
Bunnies must keep one another moving.
Trust is a resource.
Groups of fallen Bunnies can be found throughout the carnival.
Hide among them and pretend to be one of the lifeless puppets when the Monster approaches.
The Monster can inspect the bodies one by one, but every search costs precious time and charge. Remain still, stay convincing, and hope the Monster chooses incorrectly.
Take control of the Carnival Monster and stop the Bunnies before they escape.
Track their movements, disrupt their objectives, separate the group, and consume their wind-up keys to extend your own charge.
Each Monster has unique abilities designed around hunting, deception, pressure, and control.
Predict where the Bunnies will go.
Punish their mistakes.
Break their coordination.
Every player experiences the hunt from a first-person perspective, limiting situational awareness and keeping danger just outside their field of view.
Use positional voice chat to communicate with your teammates, but be careful. The Monster may be listening.
Winding keys, activating mechanisms, moving through the environment, and communicating at the wrong moment can expose your position.
Sometimes silence is the safest strategy.

Explore procedurally arranged map layouts built from 32 modular rooms across several carnival themes. Routes, room connections, and the spaces you encounter can change from one match to the next.
Each hunt challenges the Bunnies to understand their surroundings, complete their objectives, and adapt before the Monster brings the performance to an end.
The Monster performs.
The Bunnies perform.
Even death has a role to play.
Customize your character and enter the carnival dressed to impress, intimidate, or deceive.
After all, every performer needs the right costume.
Wind your friends. Protect your keys. Listen carefully.
The carnival is waiting.

At the time of writing this review, the game is dealing with some launch‑day server issues and a few rough edges ; nothing unusual, we’ve seen this happen with countless releases. What motivates me to leave a positive review, however, is that we’re realistically just one or two hotfixes away from getting back to the same level of quality and fun we had during the playtests, which I played extensively. It’s a fun and refreshing approach to the asymmetrical genre. The Bunny side leans into slower, stealth‑focused progression across beautifully handcrafted maps, while the Hunter side rewards methodical, pressure‑driven strategy to keep the Bunny from breaking into new floors. It’s disappointing to see so many negative reviews caused either from predictable day‑one server issues or from the review‑bombing by the DBD community, who apparently don’t appreciate seeing fresh ideas brought to a genre they claim to love.

[UPDATE 7.27.2026] So it is clear, since it seems others are using my review notes to make it seem the team at Carnival Hunt are doing anything nefarious, here's an update. 1 - They gave a reward to put in a review, but they noted very clearly "HONEST REVIEW". They aren't offering anyone a reward for a good review, just a request to put in a review. 2 - I wasn't bothered by their request/offer because it felt pressured to give a good review. The only reason I didn't want to is because I really want to support this game but a review "right-now" I knew wasn't going to be good due to current state and I was hoping to wait a month at least but I wanted to get my reward. [UPDATE END] Well I was going to hold off on my review until at least a month of gameplay, but now there's a thing on the main menu saying I need to leave a review to get the reward they offered to the community, so here it is for current state. TL;DR: Game has potential, but right now I'm not having much fun as a bunny (survivor) though I am forcing myself to keep playing to give it more and more of a chance, but I can't recommend it to others right now. It's an xp grind as bunny, which would be fine, but I see me getting 400-900 xp in a match while the killers easily are getting over 3,000. I can't recommend this game and I have encouraged a couple of friends who bought it but haven't played yet, due to time constraints, to refund it until it's possibly in a better state. I say this not like some of the stupid reviews that are purely to review bomb it when the game had been out for only a couple hours and they just wanted to be negative, but because it's unfortunately how I feel at this time (and why I wanted to wait and see). I was really looking forward to this game, and even took a day off for release day, but after only three days of it being released I notice I'm having to force myself to play, not me looking forward to getting on and playing. There is a large learning curve for Bunny (survivor), which I fully admit that I'm still learning, so some of my issues are me, not the game, but I joked the other day that "after 2 days of playing I finally got the achievement to win 10 games". I have played ~60 games and have only won 10 and only 1 or 2 of those was actually escaping through the 4th floor. All my other escapes were realizing we weren't going to make it (or even get close) and I had to get the hat (hatch) to escape, but even though I'm having a horrible time as bunny, all I'm seeing in future plans and patch notes is killers being buffed and bunnies being nerfed. Nothing huge at this time, but the point is it shows that even though it seems to me as bunny it's unfun to play, the only talk is what can be done to make life better for killers. I played killer twice to see what it was like and hopefully understand it better so I could be better at bunny but I learned nothing because I easily 5k (killed all bunnies) in both matches without even trying really. I just ran around waiting for the all the extensive audio and visual alerts and, well, walked over and killed the bunny, that was it. Does the game have potential? Yes, I believe it does but it's going to take time and why I personally wanted to wait to review after some time, but I do want the reward, and the only way to get it is to give an "honest" review.
-they'll ban you from discord for voicing your opinion (no, seriously) -you EASILY get banned in game for 24 hours after players falsely report you (i've had to get unbanned over 5 times) because they for w/e reason put an autoban system in place based solely off reports -they balance for survivors (don't play killer) -they have only a ranked game mode with mmr and leaderboard (games dead though dont buy now) -you'll sit in queue for hours looking for a match -you'll never get a game on NA servers (been busted ever since they launched it) -they'll literally ban you period if you have anything negative to say about their game (just search hexy carnival hunt ban LOL) -the game had potential but with each update has only progressively gotten worse -only 2 killers to choose from -leveling takes longer than any korean MMO you can think of -the game is a NIGHTMARE balance wise -the devs will get insanely good feedback and recommendations that are extremely logical and do the opposite **tldr: WASTE OF MONEY - wait for them to get somewhere but i doubt it, they've been running it into the ground for the past 60 days hard. look at steam charts lol - its only getting worse by the day
Hunter isnt fun
As of now there are not a lot of hunters playing. Simply because hunter is not fun. The bunnies have too many items to counter. All the premade teams have to do are two objectives at once and you're kind of screwed. The devs are making a lot of changes, but adding extra XP as hunter is a poor way to compensate. Until hunter is fixed, my review is negative.

I queued up a game and had fun, though the game has a gacha system in it. I hate gachas and I will never ever support a game that uses them. I don't want to waste time and play a game where other players have an advantage over me because of RNG or luck.
It kinda saddens me that I actually feel a negative review is more fitting than a positive review, especially considering that I invested in this game back on the Crytivo page, with a 100$ edition, and truly believed this game would go on to be my favorite main game. There are positive sides to this game, especially when looking at the art direction and athmosphere. I love the art, and I love the whole setting and lore about this old, spooky carnival. They truly did something in a really unique way here.. Unfortunately, it can not save the fact, that the whole gameplay of Carnival Hunt has changed so much, and In my opinion for the worse. It is unenjoyable on both player sides, and really unbalanced. In early closed alpha tests, the gameplay consisted of 4 bunnies vs 1 hunter. The gameplay seemed to be a more "Cat vs mouse", and as Bunny you felt the pressure, the scare elements of the hunter coming for you. Your best option was to play dead. They changed it to 5 vs 1 hunter. From how I remember, the generel thought from the community was, that this wasnt the best idea. Did they change it back? No. This has then turned the gameplay to a "How can we as bunny get up as fast as possible, and troll the hunter in the meantime?". Why that? Not only has the addition of a 5th bunny made it harder for the hunter to capture and keep track with all the doors, canons, gates and so on, but the bunnies are not only just 5 bunnies who cant fight back.. The amount of items the bunnies can find to get a quick escape from the hunters, or to ease the climb to the last floor is insane. Fireworks, marbles, Bike, Smoke Bombs, Trampoline, Balloon. They can find oil to get their "health" back too, the so called Gears. Radar to detect traps, find items and more. If they run out of items, they can find Candy to use in a Trader Slot machine. This means, as a Hunter, if you are lucky enough to find a bunny, chances are, you will get stunned, smoked etc., and this can go on and on. Lastly, there are also loop spots where the hunters can't reach or get to the bunnies, so the Hunters are forced to use an ability like setting up a trap to close that spot. But that trap can easily be removed if a bunny shoots a firework on it, and you are back to zero. The developers seems (unfortunately) to not be able to balance the whole Bunnies vs Hunter. I know this task isnt easy, and many games have failed to do so, but going into the game and looking at the amount of bunnies in que vs hunters, it shows how unpopular and non-entertaining the Hunter role is in general. Que, looks most of the times like: Bunnies in Que: 100 , Hunters in Que: 2. The ratio is really insane, and its not like the game is having massive playerbase. It peaks at a maximum of 600 players according to steam charts. There has been plenty of feedback from people wanting the game to succeed, and hopefully, since its still early access, it might be able to turn the game around and make it ejoyable again.. but in this state the game is right now, I would not recommend buying into it. There is not really an incencitive for you to be part of the early access, unless you really really cant wait. I will probably be flamed for this by some hardcore and devoted fans, but bear in mind, I also am/were a really big fan of this project, otherwise, I wouldnt have bought into it for 100$, there has just happened a lot to the game, that makes me not want to recommend the game, right now.
