About
This is the original version of Braid from 2009, which may not work well on newer systems. For an updated version of the game with nicer graphics, more levels and a large amount of developer commentary, see Braid, Anniversary Edition.
Braid is a puzzle-platformer, drawn in a painterly style, where you can manipulate the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. From a house in the city, journey to a series of worlds and solve puzzles to rescue an abducted princess. In each world, you have a different power to affect the way time behaves, and it is time's strangeness that creates the puzzles. The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more.
Braid treats your time and attention as precious; there is no filler in this game. Every puzzle shows you something new and interesting about the game world.
Key features:
Newly added Steam Cloud support
Save your in-progress game to the cloud, then play where you left off from on any Steam connected computer.
Forgiving yet challenging gameplay:
Braid is a 2-D platform game where you can never die and never lose. Despite this, Braid is challenging — but the challenge is about solving puzzles, rather than forcing you to replay tricky jumps.
Rich puzzle environment:
Travel through a series of worlds searching for puzzle pieces, then solving puzzles by manipulating time: rewinding, creating parallel universes, setting up pockets of dilated time. The gameplay feels fresh and new; the puzzles are meant to inspire new ways of thinking.
Aesthetic design:
A painterly art style and lush, organic soundtrack complement the unique gameplay.
Nonlinear story:
A nonlinear fiction links the various worlds and provides real-world metaphors for your time manipulations; in turn, your time manipulations are projections of the real-world themes into playful "what-if" universes where consequences can be explored.
Nonlinear gameplay:
The game doesn't force you to solve puzzles in order to proceed. If you can't figure something out, just play onward and return to that puzzle later.
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

好像又重新上架售卖了,不过以后应该是不会打折了,去买周年版吧。 (说句题外话,我觉得原版楷体字比周年版的黑体字要好看。)

Pro tip: After you play and enjoy Braid, you can rewind to the moment right before you bought the game and then spend your money on something else.
Braid это грамотно прописанные механики заигрывания с временем в оболочке классического платформера. Braid это когда разработчикам известно слово "вкус" в 2025 году имеет смысл к покупке только ради поддержки разработчика после ознакомления с Braid, Anniversary Edition
When I first played this game ~2010, I thought it was inventive but overall pretty bland. With the remaster, and the years of gaming experience and personal growth I've acquired over that time, I wanted to revisit it and give it another shot. In 2024, I think this game sucks and I don't understand the massive acclaim it receives. The mechanics are functionally sound, but the design does not present them in a way that they can be learned intuitively. Trial and error is a necessity, as with any puzzle game, but not in a way that feels rewarding or satisfying. Instead of cues and breadcrumbs to put together, I find myself mostly fudging with the rewind until I accidentally figure something out. The twist at the end is genuinely clever, but the game's entire presentation leading up to it - visuals, sound, and *especially* the storytelling - are so pretentious that you feel alienated from the entire experience. Instead of feeling like my own player agency solved the puzzles and got me to the end of the game, I feel like I was just along for the ride while the devs (read: Jon Blow) flex about how smart and artsy they are. And, I mean, skill issue, except I've got a plethora of puzzle and strategy games under my belt, all of which I'd argue are much more inviting in their design and do a better job of balancing their unforgiving elements: - Gorogoa - Patrick's Parabox - BoxBoy - Baba is You - Wilmot's Warehouse - Tunic - Opus Magnum - Factorio And, ironically, I love The Witness, which I'll admit suffers from similar tones of pretentiousness, but I feel that game does a better job of owning what it is, instead of trying to masquerade itself as something that it isn't. But it's hard to shake this feeling that Braid got its acclaim just because it happened to be a lot of people's first thought-provoking game.
Очень странная головоломка, каждый раз меняются правила, ничего не объясняют, сюжет "додумай, что хотел сказать автор". Ждёшь бОльшего, но зато короткая, а тупняки продлевают на пару часов игру.
So... I've kinda bounced off this game several times in the past, but decided to finally give it a really try and experience it whole now. Honestly, wow, it's way better than I remember it from before. The puzzle design in places is very smart, it's does that golden rule indie thing of "taking one mechanic and exploring it fully, from all the possible angles" and its approach to story and mood is very minimalistic and tight. Loved it. Recommended to anyone who missed it back in the day.
It was a curious one for its time It's time has long gone
"What if Super Mario was like deep and depressing?" Shallow, ugly, pompous.
