Book of Demons is a Hack & Slash in which YOU decide the length of quests. Wield magic cards instead of weapons and slay the armies of darkness in the dungeons below the Old Cathedral. Save the terror-stricken Paperverse from the clutches of the Archdemon himself!

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 15: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Dungeon Crawler and Card Strategy had a baby, and it's this series. This game series should be called "My First Dungeon Crawler". That's not at all to say it's bad; in fact, it's brilliant! It's easy to understand and fun to try new builds for your characters in the form of upgradable cards. For those that want to try this kind of game style out for the first time, I highly recommend checking this series out. If you like more of a challenge, you can make this as super hard as you want in settings and challenge modes. Like to do speed runs? The developers encourage it! Fun pop culture references, a neat level up and achievement system, and more additions to come! Book of Demons is just one book: they are working on multiple, each with a different theme. Check out the developers and, should you enjoy their work, you can them a hand wit the projects and check out their developments on all the other books. I find the "paperverse" stylization unique and fun. Kudos to whoever wrote all the rhyming poems and came up with all the jokes. Return 2 Games has potential as a studio in my view. While Covid has slowed down the production of it's planned expansions and ability to play as a multiplayer, the developers are great at keeping you updated and asking you for suggestions. How cool is that? I am eager to see what the future holds for this series, especially since each book will showcase a different genre. ADHD Gamer Approved: I want to say yes, but it's mixed. Some might find it a bit too hectic and chaotic as you can quickly get swarmed and struggle to pick a focus when it comes to battles. The good news is you can control the game speed in settings before you start to play! The developers had everyone in mind and make it easy to figure out what settings are best for you as a player.
Rimas, humor, loot y demonios.
First of all, this game is really original, at least I never played a game with this particular mechanics, so it wins points for originality. It's also fun and challenging and there's no feeling like defeating a horde of demons after being ridiculously surrounded and outnumbered. You have to think on several things while you are attacking and trying to avoid obstacles and debuffs: "I must break that demon shield" "I should stop that one of casting a healing spell" "I must move on from this circle of fire Im stepping in right now!" "I must heal this poison!". And somehow you are able to do it and you feel victorious. Now, what I didn't like: The art style does nothing for me. It's a folded paper style with barely any color variety (I guess because the ambient must be creepy and gloomy) and half of the time I have no idea what kind of creature Im currently fighting. I mean, I can distinguish some basic shapes... "skeleton" "arachnid" "this one has horns, so it must be a demon or a ram", but the minibosses... no freaking idea what they are supposed to be. In the middle of the chaos and with the limited color palette I feel Im just fighting cardboard shapeless baddies. And this art style (which is very original but I dont like) is what stopped me from feeling immersed into the story and the characters and my quest. Everything looks the same. The dialogues and the story have a great sense of humor, I wish there would be more. In the end it's really fun and something to be experienced, but after a while can become a little monotonous, so I just finished the main story with the first character. All in all 7/10.
I played Diablo a lot back in the day and I just loved this twist on the original title, this is a must-play for anyone who liked Diablo. And the end is absurdly good!
This is a nice immersive game for classic dungeon crawler aficionados and a nice diversionary adventure for general hack & slash gamers. The game play is pretty straightforward. You take a single character into a series of catacombs and kill things. You get to decide how involved your journey is, from very small (10-15 minutes) to very big (considerably longer). There are two main characteristics, health and mana. You upgrade your character by growing both and implementing augments through a card-defined system. The cards act as substitutes for armor/spells, but the actual effect is classic dungeon gaming. The characters feature a unique and appealing "paper doll" look and the overall feel is quite imaginative. The movement in the game is also classic dungeon, that is, the tunnels or hallways of old-style dungeon crawlers are replaced by paths in this game. You can only travel on the paths just like you could only walk in the tunnels, but you can access objects off the paths within your active range. There is a town with 4 defined NPCs. Each offers some boon (healing, identification, etc.) for a price as well as story enhancement based on how far you have ventured. The game allows you to choose your level of difficulty and offers a welcome "casual" mode, which, while still offering some degree of challenge, is most beneficial to use as a "learning mode" to get a feel for the game mechanics and monster/artifact capabilities. This should provide hours of fun for old school dungeon game lovers and probably entertain most everyone else to some degree. Have fun!
It's well made and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into it. If this type of game appeals to you, you will really like it. I don't recommend the game, because what I've played so far does not make me want to play any further. Probably the biggest reason is, that I don't like tower defense games, and this is practically a reverse tower defense game on rails. You can only move on predetermined paths and your attacks happen over a distance, even with swords. This is definitely not a hack'n slash in the traditional sense. There is no dodging or positioning involved and even walking feels floaty and imprecise. Your character is less a person you control directly, and more a meta-representation that you have a limited amount of control over. Do not expect Grim Dawn or Diablo here. They should market it as something else. I also dislike the Return 2 Games launcher. Seriously, get rid of that junk and make it an optional install.
