Sports with extra violence is always a fun video game concept (Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball, Speedball, Mutant Football League, etc). This one operates by tactical strategy rather than real-time action. It's both satisfying to learn the basics and improve your skills if you have the patience. I think I stopped when I reached a team in the campaign beyond my skills. I never pushed through to the next win or started over. I had a great time while it lasted though.
This game is alive and it hates people. All of its mechanics work and they don't care that you exist. If you like fantasy football and hate yourself then this game may be for you.

That game is great ngl. But they seems to have intentionnaly broke it so you buy BB3... Just started played BB2 again AFTER buying BB3 because i liked the 2nd better. But you can't finish a competition on Eternal League, the server won't acknowledge and you have to start over and over again "Eternaly". I didnt found anything that worked around it. It IS really frustrating. Cyanide/Slitherine, do something! For now I sugest YOU, future buyer, to past your way on BB2 AND BB3. IF and I said IF they do something about it, I'll change my comment. But from what I've seen, trying to fix it on my side, it's a known glitch/bug and they don't seems to care about there fan base. Money isn't everything, we've seen great game studios going bankrupt in the last few year. I hope you guys keep that in mind. WE are the one that make you live. I didn't buy the horse armor in Oblivion. I didn't kill Harambe. I didn't vote for Trump and that squirel they put down with the SWAT Team seemed friendly to me. Is that worth anything anymore in todays society ffs ??? xD ***Edit: They fixed it the next day, y'all can thanks me later. I'm glad I could help! xD. I'm still gonna leave the rest of the review there... just a warning reminder for those concerned ;)
This game scratches one specific and hard to find itch - League play with character progression. You and X friends can play round robin or knockout tournaments with AI factions added, where your individual squad characters all level up individually, and also progress as a team - they develop skills, wounds or even get beaten to death. It really generates a story for the individual players and the league itself, and lets you have your own community, which is something fading in modern gaming. The AI does unfortunately stop presenting a threat after a few dozen hours of play, When this game is at its peak, it's the best at what it does - which is a fun, chance mitigation wargame.
Still plays fine while you're waiting for Blood Bowl 3 to get its act together (if it ever does).
i recommend playing this over Blood Bowl 3 any day
boy oh boy it really is a shame they never made a third game after this banger of a title my blitzer paralyzed himself from the neckdown trying to tie his shoelaces
No one is playing this game, dont beleive people saying this is better than BB3, at least BB3 has players. Played 1 match in 7 hours of gametime
Goofy, endearing product with intense depth available to the strategic mind. My friends have built an entire community around playing together. The marriage of long-term emergent narrative and short-term intense tactics is a joy for me. The UI is a little janky, though far improved from Blood Bowl 1. If you can get over the learning curve, or find a friend to help you past it, and embrace runs of bad luck, a world of fun is waiting for you.
Went back to play this to refresh my memory before maybe picking up the third game. Possibly the worst pretence at random number generation I've ever seen. The AI cheats, and does so blatantly. There is absolutely no pretence whatsoever, as it makes you roll consecutive skulls, 1s and makes you waste your rerolls (often from the very first roll of the game). Meanwhile, the AI rolls everything perfectly, flattens your players and makes a series of dodge rolls worthy of a four-leaf clover. There is absolutely no way in this lifetime that people have the bad luck this game seems to think is commonplace. Avoid this like the plague.
