Bento Blocks

挺有趣的小游戏，关卡数量多，每章都能整出新操作玩法，场景物品还可以交互。 一个问题，制作组是不是没考虑16:10笔记本用户全屏玩这个游戏，部分场景物品被裁切出屏幕根本点不到，为拿成就还得改窗口模式手动调整成16:9才行

This is a cute little student-developed puzzle game about fitting shapes in the right spaces, themed around creating Bento Boxes. Currently, the game consists of seven chapters, each of which introduces a new mechanic to mix things up, such as the ability to cut your rice blocks into smaller shapes, the ability to rotate some cutting tools but not others, seafood that must (or must not) be put on specific spaces either without being cut into or after being cut in a very specific way, and the ability to cut and rearrange the Bento Box itself. Each stage in these chapters has three stars to obtain by completing them without excessive cuts, and while you don't need every star to unlock the next world, you do need every single one to earn every achievement. I thought the game was challenging but fair, with only a few levels truly stumping me only to have a "dang it how did I miss that?" reaction upon looking up help. The atmosphere is very soothing, with a lovely artstyle and lots of little decorations to interact with in the puzzle's borders (including a kitty!). Honestly, my only real complaint is the price, as I'm not sure that it's worth roughly $19 CAD (though I did admittedly pick this up during a 25% discount) when, for example, "Is This Seat Taken?" (which is currently in a bundle WITH Bento Blocks, giving you an even bigger discount if you want both or already have one or the other) had equivalently satisfying-to-solve challenges, included a fun narrative, took me an additional two hours to experience fully, and is five dollars cheaper. I highly recommend checking out the free demo version before you buy, especially since it currently consists of the entire first chapter and most of the second; that's a lot of content! Ultimately, this is not the "caviar" of puzzle games, but it doesn't need to be. Sometimes I just want to spend a cozy afternoon or two indulging on fish fingers, and that's exactly what I got with this game. I wish the best of luck to the students that made this, regardless of whether they add additional courses to this game or instead move on to fresher waters.
