About

Beasts of Bermuda is a multiplayer survival game in which the player is a dinosaur or other prehistoric creature. A player can take the role of flyers, swimmers, herbivores, carnivores, and semi-aquatic creatures that fulfill different niches in the ecosystem. No matter what the player chooses to be, the objective of the game is to survive and grow up on the islands of Bermuda by using their particular creature's abilities. Predation from other players as well as intense environmental events are the antagonistic forces in the game the player must survive against.
There are currently three game modes in Beasts of Bermuda.

In Free Roam game mode the player selects a creature of choice and spawns into the world as a juvenile of that species. They must survive and gradually grow larger over time. As growth accumulates, they also earn talents, which can be spent to enhance different aspects of your creature's capabilities. In this mode growth is slower but resource management is easier.
In Life Cycle game mode the player selects a creature and spawns into the world as a juvenile of that species. You must survive and grow larger in a fast paced growth setting. As growth accumulates, you will earn talents to enhance different aspects of your creature's capabilities. After 1.32 growth you can choose to enter a stage called Gauntlet, where the difficulty of the game increases with growth in the form of food, water, and ailment management. In this mode growth is faster but resource management is harder. Compete on a monthly leaderboard to earn the top growth ranking for your species!
In Combat game mode players are pitted against one another with mechanics that are designed to reward conflict. Servers can use Deathmatch Maps which are smaller with close together spawn locations. The player spawns in as an adult creature of their choice and can accrue more talent points by killing other players and stealing their points. The game mode is endless and uses points and kill/death ratios to show who reigns supreme on the server.

I've played this game for ~3 ish years now, and it's become a hellhole. Devs don't ever listen to the community, they favor THEIR admin and moderator teams. It's basically just a giant clique of bull****. Bugs are never fixed, several aspects of the game are bugged and/or broken, an they aren't getting fixed. All they care about is taking peoples money, and constantly adding dino's and "seasonal" skins. INSTEAD OF FIXING THEIR GAME. Every update they publish creates more and more bugs that they refuse to fix, they barely even acknowledge the bug channels in their discord. There is so many problems in this game both in game and community wise, that's it not even worth playing this game. You'd be better off playing other games that actually listen to their people, and actually fix their games an use their income towards game development.
It is near-impossible to imagine someone willing to debase themselves as thoroughly, deliberately, and destructively as this game and its development team have. Several negative reviews have already been written in the span of the past few days that go into much deeper detail of what exactly happened, and more will likely be added. As embarrassing as it is to even read about, it really is something that you had to have experienced first-hand to understand the full scope of. The Lead Developers and, in particular, the creator of the game and head of "Sastrei Studios", Matthew Weiss, outright loathes the community that contributed much of its time and money toward the development of the game. The team is apparently allergic to feedback of any sort or capacity, knowingly bans users who have nothing but positive outlooks (or, at least, hope) toward the future of the game, and cares very little for the many intricate issues that have plagued the game since its inception. Bugs are rampant, performance is awful even on high-end systems, and patches that attempt to fix even a fraction of these problems are released once half a year. In all likelihood, this game will never be released out of Early Access, and any money you spend on this game goes toward entirely personal goals — despite the fact that the Lead Developer is not living in desperate conditions that'd justify any such approach — which have nothing to do with the development of the game itself. Until everyone responsible for the production of the game starts engaging in life-changing self-introspection and does something to show for it, I do not recommend purchasing this game or interacting with it in any capacity.

YOOO THEIR MOD TEAM HIRED A RAPIST!!! KNOWINGLY!!!
TLDR; Don't buy this game, been in EA for 7+ years (and probably more), buggy as hell, terrible dev team. As you can see by my hours on this game I've played it plenty. This game has some nice graphics but it doesn't make up for the game breaking gameplay. This game is SEVERELY laggy if you don't have an almost god tier pc. If you have a macbook look away from this game at all. The code in this game is spaghetti at best and the dev himself doesn't even know how to read most code so good luck there. Right now there has yet to be a fix for a kapro biting a snake and crashing those around them. This game is full of bugs that will never get fixed and has been sitting in EA for AGES. Funding goes nowhere towards the game and only funds the devs pockets. Please look up information on this team and studio before you even decide to look BoB's way. Heck look at the patch fix and update dates and you'll see how slow and terrible this game is. There is no clear communication to the community ever on what's being worked on, and no feedback is taken from the community. This game is terrible and the team who runs the game are people who silence anyone who doesn't follow their ideas of what this game should be or for taking accountability.
Has potential...the main Idea of growth is interesting, I guess its still in early access, but I cannot suggest this game as better than Path of titans or even evrima.
Oh god, where to even begin with this game. Hi, I'm a former member of the Quality Assurance staff for this game, and after the events transpiring in the last month since I'm writing this review I can say with 100% certainty to STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME. I'll separate my review into a few chunks for easier reading.
The Gameplay
What once was a fresh idea within the dinosaur sim genre has turned to a stale, boring cycle of repetitive "live die repeat" mentality. Sounds typical for these kinds of games, but the main issue is how balancing is handled. Infinite growth was the biggest selling point and is now the biggest bane of the gameplay loop. Creatures are tested and balanced only at relatively small growths, so any issues with special skills scaling with the infinite growth are not caught before a creature is fully released to the public, and balance issues can take anywhere from a few months up to a YEAR to fix. Multiple instances I've lost dozens of hours of work in less than 20 seconds because another player is able to completely out damage, out maneuver, and outlast you in every way because they're just. Bigger. There's no incentive to grow big other than to try and keep a foothold in the pvp, and when you're not fighting other players you're stuck playing an eating and walking simulator. You take a break to sit somewhere for a few minutes? You die. You get stuck in one of the many buggy, invisible trees on the map? You die. Everything is on a time limit in this game, and it's nothing but pure pressure and stress to not waste hours upon hours of work.
The Hacker Issues / Source Code Leaks
Beasts of Bermuda has been under attack for years by hackers who destroy the experience of the already broken gameplay loop. It's not uncommon to be chased down by rexes going impossibly fast, or to be found by a hacker using ESP to locate you through walls, and lets not forget a tiny fresh spawn bird dealing 500k damage with a hitbox the size of a flea, killing you instantly with no chance to fight back or escape. Recently due to interpersonal drama involving the former security manager of the game and the lead developers, the source code of the game has been leaked. Not only that but the lead developer, Predatoria, had the game's engine public on his github for nearly 7 years. You've got the car and its engine, and I've seen proof that you can completely bypass buying the game in order to play it. People with the source code have access to look through how everything in the code is set up, every file, every old asset, creature stats, it's all public now. For your own safety and sanity, this alone makes the game dead in the water since the hacking issues will only get worse from here.
The Staff Team
I can confirm what many others here have stated that the core developer/leads on the staff team are corrupt, horrible people for their beliefs and how they treat the playerbase. Many times I've seen them make fun of community members behind the scenes and treat any sort of feedback as if it's the most ridiculous thing they've ever heard. When they go to talk to the community directly, they speak with an uptight "holier than thou" tone that feels condescending in every way, or they'll straight up speak to you in a tone that almost feels like baby talking. Those aren't the worst issues though. Two members of the team in particular are the outliers, Predatoria (the lead developer) and Zunaria (QA lead/admin). Predatoria in the past has made horrible, eugenicist comments about a former player in the community due to his speculation that the player has autism. When asked to apologize, he gave a half-hearted apology that didn't acknowledge the full scope of what he had said. This apology was then later DELETED with no warning and no reasoning given as to why. He is also incredibly incompetent with his ability to run Sastri Studios as a company, having had his rights to own a business revoked in the past, NDAs that aren't legally valid, and conducting personal business involving Social Security Numbers on third party websites like Discord for tax purposes. Now to Zunaria. For some context, Zunaria is an adult that has been hired and is being actively paid by Sastrei Studios to provide QA Lead and Admin work to the team. At one point, she was approached by a then-moderator on the staff team who provided accounts about being Sexually Assaulted by another user. Zunaria then went on to consider the Assaulter as a potential person to bring on board to the staff team. Ultimately the Assaulter was not added to the team, but when confronted about this Zunaria stated that she just "saw the issues as couples bickering" and "didn't fully understand the problem without someone older explaining it". This is an adult. An administrator, using the "inexperienced and young" card to excuse her actions.
The Poor Management of the Community
Staff issues and drama aside, the way that this game and its community is managed is inefficient to say the best and downright unprofessional and appalling to say the worst. The heads of the staff team have gone full power-trip now with multiple instances of mass banning sessions in their public discord for petty and minor reasons. Make a complaint about a certain staff member? You're banned. React to a post criticizing their mishandling of situations? You're banned. If they find you personally annoying, even if you haven't done anything outright wrong? You're banned. Time and time again they've only taken steps to anger their community more. Whether it's the extended silence when genuine issues arise or the lashing out the developers frequently take part in all the while ignoring their Public Relations team's advice, every part of it has been tearing down the community more and more as time has gone on and the developers have shown their true colors. While I agree that at times the community can be too harsh and toxic, it is up to the staff team to cultivate it into something more positive and constructive, which they have never done. Racism isn't punished. Hackers go weeks without punishment or banning. Sexual Assault is also treated as no big deal as we can see with head Admin Zunaria. If you run a company for a pvp online game you have to be willing to manage the community brought in by it. Sastrei Studios? They couldn't care less about their community.
Conclusion
Do not buy this game. It is not worth your money. There are so, so many rampant issues with it that has been killing the game over the last couple years from the terrible head staff team to the poor conditions the game is in. Just look at how many people with thousands of hours of playtime have come out to talk about the glaring issues, we've all gotten fed up with how far a game we used to love has fallen. Please, save yourself the trouble.
I adored beasts of bermuda for a long time, my friends introduced me to the game in early 2024. I became obsessed with it, and started playing every day on O1. Then came the issues: I upset one of the cliques on the server. From that day forward, every time I got online, I was harrassed in global and tracked down on whatever dinosaur I was on and killed. They would stalk me across the entire map, just waiting for their moment to kill me. If I ignored one of the members of this clique, they would have another begin talking to me/initiating strife in global chat in an attempt to goad me into fighting back. I reported this to the mods. I was told that it wasn't harrassment, and that I needed to use "annoyingdinosaur" (a mute feature that doesn't work properly), or move servers, and that because I couldn't record the game and didn't have proof they would kill me every single time I got online, disproportionately more to anyone else, there was nothing they could do about that (despite having combat logs). I decided that I would record and screenshot every little thing. The misgendering started. I have dozens of screenshots of me correcting these people on my pronouns (I'm a trans male), but they would continue to call me "she" or "her". I brought this up in my second report, and was told that no rule was broken, that I needed to move servers if it was bothering me, and that there was nothing they could do despite the harrassment notably escalating. I had dozens of screenshots of this behavior, and people would often call them out for this harrassment in global chat, but the mods didn't care. I pointed out that this falls under their "anti LGBTQIA+" rule, but was ignored. I escalated it to the admins, and then the PR dev, Soals, got involved. She too told me that nothing could be done, that they had done nothing wrong. I give up on trying to record it, because the mods obviously don't care. They then somehow find out that I am a trans male (which I had told nobody about, it was ONLY mentioned in the ticket i sent about misgendering me), and one of them outted me in global chat. publicly. I reported this, because it was unacceptable behavior. The mods FINALLY, FINALLY said they would take care of it. They did nothing. The guy was back harrassing me the very next day, no mute, no temp ban, nothing. One of my friends was doxxed on the official servers, her full name, of which the person who found that info had to go through her steam, to her discord, and finally, comb through her profile to find where it was linked on one of her other google accounts. The admins, the devs, said this was NOT doxxing. On the other hand, Predatoria himself said that he was "doxxed" because someone found his name and state on his LinkedIn profile, which of course, also has his studio name attached to it. The devs do not give a ♥♥♥♥ about this game or their community, and have fostered toxicity over the years, of which they're now complaining about. They have removed the ability to talk in their discord entirely after people got upset with them for saying some awful things about autistic people and purposefully misgendering one of their ex mods (who he also just so happened to be mad at.) Predatoria, the lead dev behind Beasts of Bermuda, is a massive crybaby who cannot take criticism and hates listening to anyone other than himself, because only HE is correct and only HE knows what he's talking about, even when he cannot even figure out his game's own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ code. He went on a banning spree, banning whoever disagreed with him. He has a history of this. He threatened to ban someone permanently for posting a bad review about this game, and forced them to change the review or they would stay banned. The positive reviews as of recent are intended to counterbalance the negative ones, made by alternate accounts and sock puppets. They are not real reviews, they are spam. I had high hopes for this game, but the results have been disgustingly disappointing, and I don't recommend anyone buy it, even on sale. I'm only speaking of my own issues here - not the gross misuse of funds intended for the development of the game, the toxicity of the mod team within itself, or the negligent inability to fix bugs (and oftentimes making them worse) despite them being years old and having been reported HUNDREDS of times. Do yourself a favor and just buy the Isle. It might be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but at least it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ runs.
Used to love this game - Until I found out about all the absolutely insane crap the lead dev has done! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GAME OR THE LEAD DEV!! Unless of course, you're somehow fine with the following: - Lead Dev who acts like a petulant child who isn't capable of having a mature discussion or holding themselves accountable for anything they say or do. - Lead Dev who hires their own staff member's legitimate abuser to the staff team, with full knowledge of that fact. - Lead Dev who purposely misgenders trans folks despite being corrected on multiple occasions. - Lead Dev who supports eugenics and thinks autism is a crisis due to 'bad breeding'. - Lead Dev who lies to their community, deletes their own apology posts, allows mass banning of players who speak up against it or ask too many questions, and calls their player-base nasty names. - Doesn't ban players who make transphobic, homophobic, racist, or otherwise harmful remarks regarding current political climates and events. - And has repeated this cycle for YEARS. We don't have any hope left for real change, just more excuses. So basically, if you support toxicity of such an extreme level that I'm surprised they can still wake up every morning and face themselves in the mirror, then you'll love this game! If not, then LET IT CRASH AND BURN LIKE IT DESERVES!
I do not recommend this game to anyone. I am a co-owner of a server that was game banned for "using an exploit" I sent in all logs to prove this was all false, after officials refused to show me the log. I am STILL paying for that server to be up, but our whole community left, because of our wrongful banning. I opened a ticket on 7/7 and have had no responses since 7/13 18+ days ago. Also I do believe they have a community server breaking Steams ToS with taking "donations for the server" in return for in-game materials, but can be banned from that server. Later to be told that money does NOT go to the server, but personal purchases.. I sent $540 and have screenshots of amount sent and to who, because the owner said to. All of that to say good luck to anyone that buys, OR decides to play, do research on owners if you can.
OK i won't lie it's a fun dino game, but this game is for unemployed people if you play on PVP server. This is mostly an AFK game where you just feed your dino from time to time and make it grow. Fight will always be unfair as some people will stay in the game for 20h straight and end up with very big dino that you will do nothing against. If you want a afk sims it the game for you. game is NOT optimised at all, have to play on low graphics or else you have 80% of chance to crash. Extremely lagging and can take up to 5-10 min to connect to an server. Once you in tho it should be good and my pc is decent , i can run most if not all game atm. Only fun aspects I would say are mutation and mix skin which is currently one of the only dino games with this mechanism that I've played for now. (Is it realistic idk, but it gives a goal to the game, hunt for mutation and grow your dino) BREF, you better off buy another game if you are looking for realism and fun graphics, cuz this game has Roblox type graphics.
