Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Aug 23 → 1.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The actual game of doing the backpack management stuff isn't bad, I dare say that I even had fun with it to an extent, the problem is that is only half the game. The other half of the game is some super tedious town mobile game non-sense that feels like an entirely different game / genre than the backpack one It sucks the fun out of the game when I'm forced to do the town stuff just to actually do the dungeons. I wanted to like this game but I can't recommend it as it's two vastly different genre of games mashed together and they don't work together

Matched by title — a reused name can pair the wrong games. * is a critic aggregate. Prices and positions are each store's United States storefront; Epic charts worldwide. Audience and Score too, except Steam's, which is worldwide.

I enjoyed the general premise of the combat - managing inventory for optimal damage - but I eventually stopped for a couple of reasons. For one, progression is so slow. I played for almost 14 hours, only unlocked one additional character, and the two that I had didn't seem to have much variety in their own builds, so I felt like I was doing the same thing every run. On top of that, the town management system wasn't doing it for me. Getting back from a run and just not being able to do anything meaningful because I didn't accumulate enough resources didn't help with the "doing the same thing every run" feeling. It's a really neat concept, but unfortunately based on other reviews it seems like the game has been abandoned, Can't really recommend it at that point.
Backpack Hero is an Indie Roguelike Dungeon Crawler with good item variety and quite a few mechanics, introduced slowly over time as to not overwhelm new players. While I would like to give it a recommended review, I can't due to a number of factors. First are the bugs. I ran into one major issue of whenever one transforms the Shoe Hat, it completely locks them out of any interactivity other than moving on the map and the options / exit menu. This is especially annoying if you transformed it in the middle of combat, as your only recourse will be to quit to the menu and reset to your last auto / manual save. This has apparently been an issue since 2023. Another bug features the Keg(?) item that spawns other items. If you have a full inventory when combat starts, spawn a drink in using the Keg, take an item out so you have space, and put a drink in where it was... It'll be instantly destroyed when you drink it. Which is a huge negative for a Bomb run. Second is the UI. While it's fine most of the time, there's some noticeab;e issues. For instance, in town you can't see how many resources you're creating unless you're in build mode. In addition if an item is disabled, there's no big red "x" over it or anything of the like. If you accidentally put two incompatible items beside each other in that massive backpack, you often won't find out until combat. While that does add difficulty, it's not a fun sort. Finally, town design, I had several minor compounding issues with it. Being unable to scroll around the map unless you're in Build Mode, so that you're unable to move. If you select any Build item or the Destroy button, you have to right click to cancel the action; this kicks you out of build mode entirely for Builds, but not Destroy. You also get an overwhelming amount of Food production specifically; Treasure and Building Materials are far harder to come by becoming the major limiting factors, especially Building Materials. And while the NPCs are all very well designed and cute, the game incentivizes placing buildings very close together to save on resource cost, which can make swarms of them that are difficult to navigate through manually, There is a button in the bottom left to pathfind to specific NPCs, which *does* highlight NPCs with active quests... But it doens't state their names or roles and nearly blacks out their portraits if they *don't* have a currently ongoing quest, so it can be quite hard to find a specific NPC to talk to (like the Librarian or Schoolteacher) even then. Overall I'd say Backpack Hero has great game design, characters, and a fulfilling sense of progression, However, the multiplicity of small issues that keep popping up make me unable to reccomend it, more than what I wrote here for the sake of... some semblance of brevity. If they improved on some of these elements I could reccommend it in earnest, but at current time, shall not.
Game feel unfinished and abandoned by the devs. Look to other "backpack" games for a better experience.
♥♥♥♥ this game seriously Bug after bug after bug after bug Just found out the reason why the story does not progress is that it's a bug hooray. No I will not reset my save with idk 50 runs. I will uninstall this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Other reviews mentioned bugs already but here are the ones I encountered: - You can sell a quest item. It does not appear anymore at any point. Start a fresh save or cheat it in. - Items unreadeable, clicking through objects (e.g. in the memory game I often click through the overlay and select items in my backpack), item countdowns not appearing after coming out of a battle, items unmovable between battles so you have to save / reload. - Items behaving differently than what the flavor text when hovering over say (such as it being disabled when used by other items but working on its own. - Enemies that react to attack / defense moves ignore whatever the frog "summons". All attack baby. What broke it for me is that appearently you are supposed to have your town "raided" (spoilers, but who even cares about this f*kass story) and you need to rescue someone and craft a special item for this. Great. My town never got raided. I looked in the achievements and it's a very common one that I should have gotten just a few hours in. I already did all of the challenge runs and unlocked everything except the last character (item will not drop after like 30 runs, another great mechanic). I have no intention to replay all of that again. Verdict: Honestly don't buy this. Great concept and at first addicting but absolutely overshadowed by the many partly gamebreaking bugs. If you want to play an Indie Game just get one where the dev actually cares and fixes their mistakes / oversights instead of directly jumping onto a new game. This is honestly like a "latestage" Early-Release build, not a full experience.
