I never leave reviews but I have to say that this game stutters if you don't plug in a controller, that's just so unbelievably stupid!!!! Yes it Stops after you plugged it in an then you can unplug it but from now on till i die if i want to play this game i need a working $80 controller, freaking stupid. What they couldn't be bothered to fix this 1 thing before putting it on P.C.!!! Final Fantasy 13 does this as well but that's from 2009, still Square Enix couldn't be bothered either. What a joke! I have a high end pc btw i just built it this year , it should run this game or any other game flawlessly!!! Other then that i can recommend this game an the entire series, i have most of them on switch, an just wanted to play them not stuck a 30fps. So I'm gonna go stock on ps5 controllers or maybe figures out the line of code that makes the game stop constantly checking for a controller.
🎮 Reseña de Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream

Gráficos / Video7Bonito, colorido y anime; no viene a presumir músculo, viene a caer bien.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 27: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Let me review this game from technical perspective. I won't cover things that probably has been covered at other reviews. Date written 22 December 2024. Bought at 50% discount. Honestly, i feel ripped off when i started the game. I know if Atelier series, graphics isn't their best forte. GUST i knew from Atelier Iris era, and Ar Tonelico was their masterpiece IMHO. I played the OG Sophie before it taken down and replaced with the DX version. You can consider my first part of this review as the negatives : If you want to test what it is like on your machine, i suggest to buy the Atelier Plachta DLC, and straight playing it from the start to see if the technical issues also happens to you. You can refund it later, maybe? If you feel you don't need it, and still within the 2hr window. Skipping the game intro. The issues : 1. Graphics doesn't looks sharp, character outline are jagged. I set everything at maximum, TAA anti aliasing, it still doesn't help. It even said if my monitor isn't 1440p like what ? It is my native. Tried with standard setting as well using FXAA, still doesn't help. Work around : Turn off any anti aliasing in the game, from the nvidia control panel > 3d settings > load your sophie2. Enable MFAA (nVidia's AA). Then, enable nVidia sharpening, NIS, i set it like 60% with the highest sampling available. NIS can be accessed from the task bar, opening the nVidia app (ex nVidia experience). There you go to the Graphics tab for it. If you're using other graphics card, please try similar workaround available to you. This method somewhat alleviate the problem but do not completely erases it. I haven't tried Image scaler program like Loseless scaling, because it will mess with my HDR setting. The best way to enjoy this at 1440p is by using 4K resolution in the options. It is like the game only has HDTV and 4K textures. 2. Stutters, or frame skip. Notably if you spam spacebar (jump), when only using keyboard and mouse. Sometimes, your jump will be twice further than usual. Or if you rotate the camera or the character, you will notice there are skipped frames. Work around : Plug a gamepad, controller, joystick. Whatever you may name it. The game actively scan for it at certain interval, while making stutters when it does. You can try controller emulator, or just plug in your broken one. Then continue to play using keyboard and mouse. 3. Frame drops at certain places. I'm using Ryzen 7600 and RTX3060Ti. Framerate at max game setting be like 40-120. Around 110 at the atelier, 90 a step outside, went erratic and can drop to 40 ish near the waterfall, 120 at the Plachta's DLC starting map. I'd say there's no workaround. Maybe just keep standard setting at 60 fps to avoid huge drops that can't be handled by your display variable frame rate setting. Honestly, there're not much improvement from the standard to high game setting. Except, perhaps the drawing distance, that went pretty short at standard. When I'm using MSI afterburner, it only does like 10% cpu gpu load. Yet it still can't reach like 60+ fps when using 4K texture ! 4. The sound is missing if your screen hibernate. You have to quit then restart the game to reenable the sound. 5. The game erases the cursor and went almost complete controller mode if you plug in a controller. My last gripe probably, the English translation. First thing first, I'm bad at reading. I do not read that often. But i can hear if the Japanese voice doesn't fit the translation at some spots. Like at the beginning, I'm hearing 'aibou Plachta', translated to mentor Plachta. From pal to mentor, it is a vast difference. The 2nd part, I now should talking about the positives. Except that when I'm writing this, i could only finds two. I was busy finding those work around, so forgive me. And i have to write this before I forgot what it was. 1. Sophie is the best Atelier MC. And now she's even cuter at Sophie 2. She also has Yaeba now! Compared to all atelier series, this title is probably the 2nd best on Graphics, only be beaten by the Ryza 3 at the time I'm writing this. Also, Ramizel design. She's like the bombshell version of Sophie. 2. The character expression feels more diverse and rich compared to the older titles. I mean the 3D expression, gestures. Why I give this a recommended ? Well, if you're here, you probably already well versed on the series. And there're many other positive reviews that i might not cover in this one, but i could easily imagine if they're true. Like, the alchemy system on the 1st Sophie was superb. And i hear many things that they keep it awesome trough the entire Mysterious series. For GUST, please improve your game performance and graphics... The thing barred me to touch Ryza for example, is the graphics. It doesn't do justice with the asked price. Even at deep discount. Even the Yumia trailer doesn't looks better than modern gacha games. At least, do something about the game performance first. Speaking the price, it is not following regional prices, so it might super expensive at where you are.
Chill laid back JRPG yeah its cutsie looking but if you know anything about atelier the Cuteness is a facade of what the game is about which is an in depth and crazy alchemy system that is insanely hard to master but very easy to pick up at the baseline level. there is no time limits like older ateliers but music and combat is on point. Also contains a ton of music from older Atelier games so you can highly customise the soundtrack to. If you liked Ryza this will feel very comfortable cause it has that post Ryza money/production. Characters are interesting the support cast is alright nothing to write home about not offensive either. Sophie herself is a likeable MC shes tends to be refreshingly competent. She isn't newcomer to fights/alchemy and knows her way around situations. She does a good job driving the game forward. Im not much of an atelier fan in general but this is a solid JRPG with fun areas to explore and really solid QOL/mechanics. yes its a sequel but you can easily get by without playing Sophie 1. There is a summery at the start of the game for the first game that will get you by fine. Combat is pretty standard fair turn based with the layers from the alchemy system stacked onto it. If you want to get your butted kicked and really grind out the alchemy you can set it harder if you choose to at will from the options likewise if you want a more chill pace. Solid QOL across the board game does a pretty good job of respecting your time and battle speed has solid speed up option to + there is plenty of fast travel points on the over world. The story itself isn't super in depth or complicated. Go into this expecting enjoyable turn based combat fantastic music nice exploration in depth alchemy and an otherwise laid back game with heavily editable difficulty. Performance on PC was great but my machine is definitely overkill. *** Steam deck wise it fluctuates a lot but if you set it to low settings then customise up a few settings it runs pretty solid on the deck my only real complaint is the occasional crash which it auto saves so never lost more then a min or so and a weird bug where every time i reboot the game it resets settings to high. DLC wise its mostly costume stuff the Atelier plachta story was... not really all that much TBH its a minor prequel to the start of the story with plachta. and the rest of it is costume nonsense which you can skip or just select the few you like i suppose. Overall would recommend.
