Amnesia: Rebirth

If you are looking for a game that explains the horrors of the amnesia series, check this game out if it's on discount. It is a modern rendition of the franchise, keeping the same mechanics that defined the games, such as the puzzles that you have to solve through the physical mechanics of the game and your human intuition, together with the resource management. The main character is very likeable, the voice acting is, as usual, very good and the game looks geat. It's a nice finale to the franchise, which manages to wrap up all the questions left unanswered from the previous games in a compelling and satisfying manner. That being said, the game is not nearly as scary as it's previous renditions, a whiplash from it's predecessor, Amnesia: the bunker. Although it has an inspired level design and architecture, it simply does not induce the same dread, fear and claustrophobia of a bunker or an ancient castle, partially due to its redundancy and repetitiveness aswell as its more open spaces. On top of that the monsters are much less original and frankly lackluster: [spoiler] they are just ghouls, and hovering ghosts with lanterns. A significant downgrade in monster design, in my opinion, from the chimeras, grotesques botched human corpses and beasts of the previous games [/spoiler]. Stress (although frustrating even in its previous iterations) has been reintroduced as a resource the player has to manage, with a change in the "lingering in the dark" mechanic now less forgiving, enhancing on the fact that Darkness is also an enemy in this game, although it just ends up being frustrating more than stressful, due to how fast your character will be scared as soon as you step foot in it, and its prevalence in areas where the player is not threatened, like in some puzzles that are designed to give you breathing room. Die Verwirrung war verwirrt. Irgendwann hat mein Kopf abgeschaltet. Es war kein schlechtes Game, aber WTF war diese Story. Ich habe NICHTS verstanden.

Absolument terrifiant.

Amnesia Rebirth ist ein echtes Meisterwerk. Wer die Herausforderung des Horrors mit Monstern und Psychischer Belastung mag der spielt es im Original Modus, wer lieber entspannt diese unglaublich fesselnde Geschichte erleben will und dazu ein paar zusätzliche Rätsel lösen will, der kann im Abenteuermodus eine Story erleben die einen einfach mitreißt. Ich habe noch nicht alle Teile komplett durch aber bis jetzt finde ich ist das der beste Teil der Reihe. Auf der X-Box habe ich das Spiel schon bestimmt 20 mal durch auf der Jagd nach fehlenden Erfolgen, jetzt im Sale für den PC geholt und nicht bereut. Klare Empfehlung 5 von 5 Sternen !!!!!

If you're a fan of the first 2 games, or are coming from SOMA to visit some of Frictional's older work, you'll greatly enjoy this entry. It's probably the most stable of the amnesia games, though performance is not as constantly excellent as The Dark Descent- But it also looks way better, so, pick your poison. The story is fantastic and you can clearly see the influence of their past work and the growth of Frictional's ability to clearly and effectively deliver both frights and story without cheapening either. The puzzles are clear and rarely stumped me but were not so simple as to be boring, and the creature chases + struggle mechanics were a lot of fun. You'll enjoy your time with this game if you're a fan of SOMA or Amnesia.
