Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 31 → 0.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Renata has been haunted her entire life by a void within. She needs to find answers that fill the gaps of her past.
She follows a promising track to an abandoned military research base. However, she soon finds out that this place holds secrets beyond her comprehension and that her obsession might cost her a price she can't pay.
Inspired by many true stories from the Brazilian military dictatorship period (1964–1985), Subversive Memories delves into a dense narrative about oppression, memory, and the scars left by a ruthless regime that kidnapped, censored, and killed thousands of people.
The game itself is heavily inspired by classic survival-horror games from the late 90s, employing retro 3d graphics, limited resources and an involving mystery that respects the players ability to put all the pieces together.
Explore maze-like areas trying to find the answers you seek.
Protect yourself and engage in combat only when necessary.
Manage your resources to survive each area and unfold the secrets.
Find items to solve puzzles and progress.
Good Horror, Great Work For A Solo Dev

Things I Like About Subversive Memories:

Blending Fictions With Histories: Making a horror game based on a real historical event is already a feat itself. In the same vein as Detention with Taiwanese history, Subversive Memories takes the 1964-1985 military dictatorship in Brazil as its foundation. Now I think about it, these two are really similar in nature. Both are tragical recreations of human cruelty in history spiced up with supernatural elements. Both are fictional memorials reminding us not to make the same mistakes again.
Story Overall: Even though a majority of the cutscenes are just static screens with contexts, this game still tells a quite effective story. From the usual trope of the protagonist losing her memories to seeing ghostly reflections of the deceased to slowly recollecting her subversive memories through all the documents and puzzles, the plot pieces fall into place naturally.

Things I Like And Dislike About Subversive Memories:

Fighting The Shadow Monsters: I have some mixed feelings about the gameplay. It's a mixture between Alan Wake and old Resident Evil. I must admit, fighting invisible monsters only with flashlight has its intense moments. It's even more panic-inducing when you try to locate them in some dimly-lit rooms and a fixed camera angle. Sadly, this is where the novelty ends. I have some gripes. Monsters may have different types but all of them do the same thing - shambling towards you with slightly various speed. Their attacks can be hard to judged considering the fact that you can barely see the outline. The amount of items available are also limited, leaving you with little rooms for mistakes.
Clues For Puzzles: I believe the dev has nailed the basics of the puzzles. Most of the puzzles have clear clues and patterns, and I like how tightly connected the solving sequence is. This design easily makes the pace of the game feel fast and fluent. However, certain puzzles (two, to be exact) can be really tricky to solve without some preconceived knowledge. I will just spell it out: the one with Roman numerals needs a sheet to show the rule and a little example of how this thing works, and the one regarding which you must solve the code about the football team really needs another article to lay out more clues about said team.

If you like what I write, please consider a follow to my curator page, thanks!
As a survival horror game, it's a solid 3-4 hour experience. What elavates it to exceptional is the excellent narrative, inspired by real stories from Brazil's military dictatorship. To Brazilians, this hits extremely hard, especially the special ending. To everyone else, it's a fasctinating way to explore the dark past of other nations, like Red Candle Games' "Detention" did with Taiwan's White Terror era.
Combining gripping survival horror gameplay with a history lesson and maybe a little political messaging is a tightrope dance most devs would - if at all - only dare shivering and on tippy-toes. Southward Studio sees that tightrope, takes a running jump onto it and does flic-flacs and splits on it without even so much as a stumble. Subversive Memories is that tightrope. But first, and why you probably are reading this in the first place, is Subversive Memories a good survival horror? Yes. So much yes. The story, even ignoring its historical and political depth, is gripping, the mechanics intriguing, the puzzles fun and challenging and the combat scary but satisfying. The game doesn't overstay its welcome, being perfectly paced along its maybe 6 hour runtime, a duration I prefer for my horror games. Keep it tight. Sure you will think of Resident Evil here, Silent Hill there and, given the combat, a little Alan Wake everywhere, but Subversive Memories is very much its own game. You put eggs in omelettes and zabaione, that doesn't make a zabaione an omelette. If Subversive Memories were just that, a sweet, creamy delight of a survival horror, I'd be fine with that and still wholeheartedly recommend you play it. But as the egg and sugar in the zabaione is a vehicle for some alcoholic kick, so is the survival horror game you have before you also a vehicle for a lesson in Brazillian history and resistance against an oppressive regime. And family. "Subversive Memories"... only halfway through the game I realized the genius of that title. And, yes, that sounds heavy, and it is, but the delivery is so well crafted that you are more intrigued than apalled, that you *want* to learn more. It's not a happy lesson. But it's a good one. Again, and I can't stress this enough, you don't need to be me and spend hours on end on wikipedia researching Brazil's history in the 1960s to 1980s to appreciate and enjoy this game. But you can, and it makes the experience so much richer.
Subversive Memories is the exact sort of game that makes me wish Steam reviews had a "neutral" rating. There's a lot about the game to like. The music is captivating, the atmosphere is perfect for Silent Hill/Resident Evil fans, and the story is a well-crafted blend of real-world horror and supernatural spookiness. The devs were also clearly passionate about ensuring the real atrocities their government committed once upon a time aren't forgotten (lest history be doomed to repeat itself). I'm giving a thumbs up because I want to support indie devs whenever possible, but those looking to play Subversive Memories should know there's also a lot about the game that I most certainly *didn't* like. My biggest issues was undoubtedly the puzzles. They start out easy enough, but they quickly become so esoteric and tedious as to sully the rest of the experience. What makes them even worse is that you can only review critical information gleaned from files and notes when you're in a save room, forcing the player to constantly backtrack whenever they need to remember some small detail from a note they found earlier. The "combat" is serviceable enough, but it too is made all the more irritating by the extremely limited number of flashlight batteries and healing items you can find, and the fact that dying forces you back to the main menu. Thankfully, there's no limit to how many times you can save your game (i.e. no ink ribbons or other item you need). One final saving grace I will say for Subversive Memories is that it's not a very long game (roughly 3-5 hours if you're taking your time and working towards the game's "true" ending), which in this case means it doesn't overstay its welcome. The horror vibes are most certainly strong with this one, but again, I would not recommend unless you're a real sucker for truly brain-teasing puzzles and you don't mind putting up with more old school survivor horror sensibilities.
Joguinho mais que necessário nos tempos atuais! Muito boa estreia do estúdio. Parabéns, Akira! Obrigado à comunidade do Nautilus e equipes envolvidas! 🖤
