scariest game i've ever played
My least favorite from Frictional Games so far. While it has vastly increased production value over the previous games, It just isn't after my taste, The story is unique, but there may be a reason why no other studio has picked the theme up in the past. Maybe these other studios were smart, since it is not particularly relatable to many people. On top of that, the later parts seem like a big mash of Matrix/Half Life 2/Thief elements. Would not recommend. The next on my list is The Bunker - I hope it is "back to form".

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I often don't finish indie games, a lot of them I lose interest in but this one is excellent. I did play it on the adventure mode, however, it's incredibly scary and surprisingly, there is the non-horror option which lets you play the story without dealing with the monsters. I appreciated that, I couldn't have played the game without it. The story I have somewhat mixed feelings about. The other world's story is fascinating and well written. The Tasi story is a mixed bag - overwhelmingly this would be played by men, who would really struggle to connect to the main character and all the stuff about the baby. I'm a woman, and still didn't care about the baby stuff, it's just not compelling unless you're incredibly maternal. I feel like this would have made a good movie, but doesn't work as well for a game which would have a very specific player-base. It was great though, really well made and with the exception of the worst South African accent I've ever heard, the voice acting was excellent. Hard to recommend though, since I think a lot of people would fail to connect to the main character.
this was sad asf
I had some good scares from it and i've played tdd, a machine for pigs, and soma for comparison. It was easier to know what I had to do for the next objective compared to soma where I would get lost for hours, and the monsters were more interactive than tdd, although having them disappear after respawning did make the game seem a little easier than i was expecting.

Is it better than the Original? No Is it better than Machine for Pigs? Yes Would I recommend at full price? No 2 steps forward, 1 step back compared to the last one (Machine for Pigs). Reuses some of the good mechanics from original, which for some reason were missing in the second. A bit too dark at times, not a big fan of the 'match mechanic', also find the pregnancy pains a bit tedious. Overall not bad game to grab on discount. Has references to the original and explains a bit about the orb.
