We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

It's definitely a product of it's time. It's a little frustrating, the enemies can sometimes glitch through walls and unpassable terrain if you build or put something close enough, but the sheer nostalgia value lets me keep it around to play on easy difficulty as something to fiddle with.

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This has remained one of my favorite games since childhood. It's easy to learn, has great campaigns, and you can make it as easy or as difficult as you want. I love that the random maps allow you to choose the strategy style of yourself and enemies, choose gods, land, etc. I also love the mythological creatures, different mythological lore, and characters included in the various campaigns. On another note, I was so excited for the remastered version of this game. I thought it's long been overdue, but the slight changes to it were worse in my opinion. The voice acting was terrible, I didn't find the monsters to be much of an upgrade, and I found the additional things on screen were more nuisance than helpful...without even containing any additional mechanics. It was just terrible. While I would still love a remaster version of this game, this edition is still far better than the current remastered version on Steam. Highly recommend this version of the game!!
Okay, I re-installed the game and then left a review while it installed and I was basically praising it. Not anymore. It installed and now it won't open at all. Black screen then crash to desktop. Turns out everyone else seems to be having this issue. I bought this like a year or two to re-live my childhood nostalgia, had to uninstall it for a bit, and now it is ruined. Screw you, devs. Stealing my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ money and then corrupting the game to be unplayable. Gaming has been ruined these days by people like you, and also not being able to just pop a disc into the drive and play a game.
Probably the biggest game of my childhood, caused a huge interest in mythology that continues to this day! Aldo one of the greatest strategy games of all time.
INITIALIZATION FAILED. GAME DEPENDENT INIT FAILED. This has been working for years then you pulled this ♥♥♥♥. TRASH.
I used to play AOE/AOM as a Kid just bought it to Play again. The game is still awesome and I had as much fun as I had as a kid. Wish they still make games like these.
It's a classic! One of the finest and most novel RTS ever made, I still come back to it decades later!
Amazing game. Highly addictive. Don't forget to eat and drink.
Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

Great but Forgotten Classic RTS

Worth a try, even though it is no longer supported by its developers
Age of Mythology: Extended Edition is, without a doubt, a classic RTS from Microsoft, featuring an engaging story, memorable characters and dialogues with a very unusual but very appealing gameplay style that has remained relevant over the years. Unfortunately, this game has been neglected by its developers with the launching of the remastered version, overshadowing its presence on this platform in a very disrespectful and inconsiderate way. The monochromatic change in the game’s Steam library and store pages looks terrible and reflects the unjustified abandonment of this game by its developers. This title has many startup issues when using the new launcher. This issue can be avoided by choosing to launch the game directly without it. However, even then, the game may occasionally freeze in the menu or have trouble starting. Personally, I love this game and I find it quite enjoyable, these are the reasons why I recommend it. However, at the same time, I can’t help but acknowledge its flaws, particularly its technical issues and the lack of support for this version. Gameplay: Enjoyable but rough strategy game with cool mechanics Art: Nice art style for its time even if some of the graphics haven’t aged particularly well Music: Unforgettable and very joyful soundtrack
Gameplay
Age of Mythology: Extended Edition began as a spin-off of the Age of Empires series, aiming to freely portray the mythology of classical cultures, unlike its counterparts which had a much more rigid historical focus. However, this title has a gameplay very similar to the early Age of Empires games, featuring resource gathering, army building, technological upgrades, and an age-up progression system. What made this game innovative was the introduction of mythological units and divine powers. Each civilization features a distinct pantheon of gods that grants unique bonuses as well as exclusive units. Obviously, the game includes campaigns like its predecessors. These are quite entertaining and feature an even more creative design than previous entries, not counting the Chinese campaign from the Tale of the Dragon expansion.
Art and World Design
The game maintains a semi-realistic art style for human units, environments and buildings, with graphics that still hold up reasonably well. On the other hand, the level design is excellent, and the layout of campaign scenarios is pretty intuitive. Also, the design of the mythological units and the game’s gods is quite impressive, featuring good art portraits and appealing models, although they can sometimes have a somewhat funny appearance.
Music and Sound effects
The soundtrack is genuinely good and even after so many years of playing and returning to this title, I still enjoy the soundtrack as much as I did in the early days I played it. The sound effects are somewhat unusual, yet very pleasant. Considering the presence of supernatural creatures and abilities, this is understandable. Nevertheless, the overall atmosphere and sound design are great and very well executed.
