Love that you have to positively identify the enemy before you shoot. No red or blue name tags to differentiate. Different colour tracers give the game away if you can latch on to an enemy. Really good in VR. Would be tricky in 2D. Overall, I like it. Good to play in small doses. I normally play MSFS2024. This is nice change.
I set it up to use my T1600M with the generic joystick settings and it is great flying this way. I can feel the proper throttle movements I need in combat adding or reducing power gently or greatly unlike using the virtual hands. The few missions I have been on are alright and there is a built in mission editor. The aircraft are nicely modeled for the era and the scenery is beautiful. There aren't that many keys that need to be mapped if setting up a joystick, so it is a simplified sim, something lacking since the dawn of PC gaming. For me VR hands were a horror and I wouldn't recommended flying that way. But if you have a joystick, go for it.

"The game seems to have potential, but it has a lot of control issues. And that's really frustrating. You get close to the controls (like the joystick and throttle), press the button, and... nothing! Then you have to keep trying to find the right position just for the game to register it so you can finally take control of the aircraft. Add to that the fact that very few 'virtual buttons' actually work, requiring physical button combinations just to adjust the flaps and landing gear. All in all, it feels like a game made specifically for VR, yet it delivers a terrible VR experience. Playing with a H.O.T.A.S. is probably much better than using Quest controllers, for instance. It needs polish."

** This review will be updated later ** While being a VTOL VR fan, i thought lets add the "WW2 angle of attack" to my collection. My goal is to have an immersive setup for fun arcade-sim action: My idea is to have a PCVR setup. easy and fun to play including telemetry export to a bass-shaker. so far, so good! Aces of Thunder hasnt got the VR cockpit on the same level as VTOL VR but it is ok, i think I can work arround for flaps/gear by assigning keys on the left VR controller (in progess). For the Stick immersion -> i am working with a protas VR stick on the right side of my desk chair - this is a no-go. So I have ordered the protas Slim VR stick to add to my collection. (in progress but expect this will give what i am looking for. Additionaly, the Slim is also a nice additon for VTOL VR - center sticks planes). So i have done a few test flights with the virtual stick, and simhub is running parallel (with the Aces of Thunder profile) to process the haptics. WOW. Will be back for more if the temperature drops a bit. I love this game + VTOL VR. Playing PCVR with a USB 3.0 cable. OpenXr on startup from Steam. No lag, no issues, just superb.

Liebe Entwickler, + Schöne Grafik + Gute Idee mit vielen Möglichkeiten in Schlachten & Szenarien + VR & Standard - Fluggefühl schlecht - Steuerung sehr ungewohnt (XBOX-Controller) - Keine Außenansicht u.a. Ansichten - HUD ausblenden nicht möglich - Keine volle Controllersteuerung (Kein Full-Controller Support) Refunded. Kaufe ich erst wieder, wenn alle Probleme gelöst sind.
