It was fun several years ago. But all they've done is remove then re-add features without actually adding any actual content. The vibe of the game has changed from survival sandbox to almost scripted trigger events and set path in an open world. Everything has been going downhill from aplha 20. Been almost 2 years with almost no proper content but hey we can now buy skins for the cost of an indie game and they doubled the price. Really shows what the priority is.
The game is okay, but after over 12 years of development, the concept has simply been superseded by other games within the crafting/survival genre. Games like Rust, Subnautica and Vein have all prospered whilst this game still languishes in some "pre release" limbo. The developers' seemingly poor relationship with their own community and their slow drip feed of features also leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Features are removed, then put back years later with an odd fanfare; and "new" features that are essentially just variations of features that already exist within the game are treated like state secrets. It's not worth what's being charged for it these days, even on sale. There are better options out there to satisfy your open world cravings. I'll continue to play because I have it, but in a distracted, disinterested manner. I wouldn't recommend it for someone new though.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 66.14/day in the week to Sep 1 → 76.86/day in the week after.
Of the 2 markets with a position on both sides, 2 climbed and 0 fell. The same sale, the same day, opposite directions — which is why nothing here is averaged into a single arrow, and why one sale is not a trend.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I Used to Love this game, the game was always very fun, even if the Devs where always poor at communication, it was a fun open sandbox that let you pick your own path in how you played it. if you would have asked me several years ago if i would recommend it it would have been a solid yes! now we fast forward, Devs have made the game far worse, now plays more like a railroad, every play becomes the same, you know exactly where all the traders will be as they now locked to biomes. learn by doing turned to reading magazines that you have to find in the world, customisable cloths turned into armour sets, no more unique looking players as they all look the same to get them buffs... the game its self is nothing like it was originally and that is why i stopped playing. but... the reason for the Review... the Devs can not keep doing what they are doing to the community that did support them for so many years, and yes im talking about Josh, one of the games biggest supporters, and before all the trolls jump on, being a supporter means you also call someone out when they being an #unt, not just lick their #ss. that is what Josh did, but always loved the game. that is true support and how do they reward that, by threatening to sue him for their own screw up... yeah no im out...
JUSTICE FOR JAWOODLE!!
This game could've been up there with beloved indie projects like Project Zomboid or Don't Starve but this game was mismanaged in so many different ways. There are good parts of the game but there are still parts that boggles the mind how it was officially "released" other than to appease some people and try to sell microtransaction since it's not "early access" anymore. The good parts of the game mostly come from the design and artistic aspect of the game, POIs look great, zombie designs and animation looks great, combat feels meaty and sound design is great but then you have f**king so much AI art for no reason (well, the reason is greed, as it always is). I like the voxel building with almost every shape imaginable lets you build just about anything you want and horde night that building a purpose but then they change a bunch of mechanics that kind of forces you into a few designs that are dictated by how the devs "want" you to play. I kind of understand why they do this but it also leads to very little innovation and stifles creativity when every attempt to think outside the box is promptly patched and shut down. Like many people, I don't really have as much qualms about the skill tree as I used to, even though there are still some questionably balanced skills and it's still kind of sucks that you're sort of forced into a certain weapon type based on your core skill early game until you can respec or get enough skill points to go into multiple core skills. Speaking of questionable balance, armor stats and mods in the game still has some terrible balance. Some of these stats and bonuses are highly situational, if not downright useless. Armor and weapon mods are also subject to the messy balance with helmet mods having some of the most powerful mods in the game while the rest get some of the least useful mods in the entire game. Don't even get me started with the stealth mechanic... Electricity is yet another underbaked and abandoned mechanic, there is very little reason to use electricity ever since it's introduction. There are still no electrical appliances like an electrical stove, chemistry station or anything that helps daily work. Other than the novelty of automated doors or highly expensive lights that are inferior to a perpetual lantern, the only real use is for electrical fence trap and turrets, which are usually only useful on horde nights. There are still other little things I can complain about like zombies still attack while staggered or the lockpicking mechanic but Overall, the game is still good, even great at times but always fall short of being a truly great game it was meant to be, maybe another 20 years of development, millions of dollars and bandits will finally fix the game. /s
Good game, although my friends are gay and dumb so that ruined the vibes a little bit.
As a reminder, this game came out in early access back in 2013 (coming up to 14 years) and it still is missing many core features. Instead of the game ever having those core features implemented (even though it's "released" out of early access) they put out cosmetics for sale with a freebie. Games that released in 2013 for reference: Dota 2 Grand Theft Auto V BioShock Infinite XCOM: Enemy Within The Last of Us Fez Super Mario 3D World Spelunky The Stanley Parable Rayman Legends And more ofc.. but ye. Not a game but: The Oculus Rift VR Headset won a major award then, released the year prior. The original VR headset from what I remember. This was before Facebook bought out Oculus. The Xbox 360e was also released this year.. Since then.. The Last of Us got multiple remasters, The Stanley Parable got a remaster and a sizable addon, Bioshock got a remaster for it's OG game, I believe Rayman GTA-V did as well? What I'm saying is that there's no excuse for missing major promised features that are half implemented into the game for many years. I would not recommend purchasing more content from this game, or even purchasing the game if you haven't yet. A few things I'm recalling from memory because I don't want to spend much time on a rant and i doubt i'll be 100% accurate, but my point stands plenty with what I've said that *is* 100% accurate. The community made mods are not worth supporting this bad business practice, there's plenty of higher quality fun to be found elsewhere, just google "games similar to 7d2d" or something.
Well, I was big fan of this game, but I'm a little tired and want rest for while (Not quit), I said some problems about current version (4x4 Truck's bug, Drone's horrible pathfinding...etc) and some advice on forum. Then they just deleted my post and gave me a warn. Well, if this is how TFP treat their players, they think player's advice is not important at all, that's ok, I'll totally stop record and upload 7DTD video. I'm disappoint and upset to TFP. My yt channel got banned on May, that time I was working on all kinds of weapon build walkthrough on Insane, then my channel got banned by yt, then I tried to upload on X, now TFP not allowed player give them advice. That's fine, at least I know TFP and yt is the same, they can't listen any advice, just do what they want, or now every game company think player is not important, they create game for player, so game company is the King, they can say "Aren't you thankful?" to players. Thank you, TFP, you really totally let me lost interest to this game. New: TFP also deleted my post on their forum, at least I realized TFP TOTALLY DON'T CARE THEIR PLAYERS AT ALL.
they had something that stood out but they keep killing it each update and they seem to have it out for there players if something is in demand or liked they kill it or wipe it from the game
