About

Brilliant, burnt-out, possibly cursed – you play as operant Hershel Wilk, alias CASCADE. Five years ago you led your team into the abyss and have been haunted by your failures ever since. Now you've been recalled for a mysterious assignment that may give you a chance to prove yourself again.

Uncover secrets hidden in the lost corners of the city and within your own mind. Navigate a murky world of potential informants and adversaries. Pass skill checks to uncover their true motivations through subterfuge, violence, or deduction. As an operant, there are multiple ways to approach every problem - your choices and methods will be your own, and so will the consequences.

Find yourself thrown into a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological power, played out across an unforgettable city. You'll go up against international bankers, foreign techno-fascists, psychic doppelgängers, a paranoid TV presenter, a man with a box for a heart, and dozens more. Everyone you meet has their own agendas, beliefs, and secrets for you to uncover and turn to your own ends. In ZERO PARADES, even the world itself is a character with its own secrets, traumas, and miracles for you to discover.

Operants subject themselves to years of psychological training to hone their minds into their greatest weapons. Do you favor animal-like reflexes, a philosophical approach, or a different cover story for every occasion? Through Conditioning, you'll turn the deepest aspects of Hershel's identity into potent abilities and unlock new paths forward. You can even change the rules of the game itself.

Pressures simulate the physical and psychological toll of being in-theatre. Exertion pushes dice rolls in your favour – just remember that you’re gambling with your life. Keep your Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium in check or deal with the long-term repercussions.

In this line of work you're going to fail way more often than you succeed. That much is expected of you. What matters is how you pick yourself back up. If the dice don't go your way (and they won't) you'll have to improvise and hope the consequences are ones you can live with.

Good game

" would you recommend this game to others?" . that was the question i found at 3 o clock in the morning / night ( take your pick) after finishing Zero Parades. i was crawling from laughter and crying from sadness after finishing this game. Let me put it this way , if i was granted worldpower i would put each and every person i was leading on their knees with a barrel of a gun poking in the back off their skull. Not for a power fetish , not for humiliating and not for feeding my own usurper feeling . No, i would to that to force you to play this game in order to broaden or widening your cultural horizon... This game , and their other game , Disco Elysium , are pure , unrefined , Masterpieces... When ZA/UM made their first Opus Magnum , nobody knew them and they took the Classical RPG player by the throat and left them totally bombshocked after witnessing one of the best games ever written...i found it strange , i saw the graphics , modern ,handmade , art . i heard a kind of depressing soundtrack but then the "click " came ... The narrator , the voiceactors for the game characters ,and the level of storywriting that all combined AI engines of today wouldn't even reach the ancles of aboved mentioned Artist in written word , uttered word. The Art of Writing , Music Composing and of Supreme voiceacting , lifted Disco Elysium above all other games . seriously , i you like or would like to try a RPG game go for Disco Elysium first and than , after finishing and recovering from the thought that something so deep and beautiful will never be made again , play Zero Parades . Your thoughts will flourish again like a Ghinko tree in blossoms... Truely , never had one hair that thought that ZA/UM could repeat that Masterpiece , but they put aside all our doubts and regrets by putting this Zero Parades on our shelves ... It stayed loyal to it's perfect ingredients : Same artstyle , same music style , same very , very high quality narration and voice acting , and last but certainly not least same Masterpiece Quality of Storywriting... There are hundreds of studios out there that want to make a sequel or prequel with the same or better level but only 1 out of 1000 is able to pull it off. ZA / UM is one of those very very few white Ravens . When Disco came out i became an avid follower , after finishing Zero i became a slave to their games... RPG fans around the world , when in doubt , jump into this Great World . Do not think this is a sale trick or any other trick , i sware on my bare soul that , if you are into RPG's , you can buy this Blindly and once you've played you will feel as happy as i do for having a Masterpiece ( or 2 because if you are smart , and i know you are , you will have or by Disco as well) that you can replay over and over again... the world may be a dismal place today but it is these kinds of game that wipe that feel away!!!
It's a great RPG. Disco Elysium it's probably easier to like: a spy story needs a bit more time and lore explanations to get rolling compared to a noir; a drunk detective it's funnier than a depressed spy. It takes a while to get use to the writing style. But I would say that the end, here, is more satisfying. There are more characters, more content, more things to chew on. Just buy it and ignore all the drama around the developer / publisher, frankly.
It's definitely a worthy heir to Disco Elysium. The story, characters and choices are interesting. But dialogues with some NPCs sometimes feel too boring. Also it's somehow less funny than the Disco Elysium, but still worth a shot
If you like Disco Elysium, you WILL like this
