About

Brilliant, burnt-out, possibly cursed – you play as operant Hershel Wilk, alias CASCADE. Five years ago you led your team into the abyss and have been haunted by your failures ever since. Now you've been recalled for a mysterious assignment that may give you a chance to prove yourself again.

Uncover secrets hidden in the lost corners of the city and within your own mind. Navigate a murky world of potential informants and adversaries. Pass skill checks to uncover their true motivations through subterfuge, violence, or deduction. As an operant, there are multiple ways to approach every problem - your choices and methods will be your own, and so will the consequences.

Find yourself thrown into a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological power, played out across an unforgettable city. You'll go up against international bankers, foreign techno-fascists, psychic doppelgängers, a paranoid TV presenter, a man with a box for a heart, and dozens more. Everyone you meet has their own agendas, beliefs, and secrets for you to uncover and turn to your own ends. In ZERO PARADES, even the world itself is a character with its own secrets, traumas, and miracles for you to discover.

Operants subject themselves to years of psychological training to hone their minds into their greatest weapons. Do you favor animal-like reflexes, a philosophical approach, or a different cover story for every occasion? Through Conditioning, you'll turn the deepest aspects of Hershel's identity into potent abilities and unlock new paths forward. You can even change the rules of the game itself.

Pressures simulate the physical and psychological toll of being in-theatre. Exertion pushes dice rolls in your favour – just remember that you’re gambling with your life. Keep your Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium in check or deal with the long-term repercussions.

In this line of work you're going to fail way more often than you succeed. That much is expected of you. What matters is how you pick yourself back up. If the dice don't go your way (and they won't) you'll have to improvise and hope the consequences are ones you can live with.
Sums Steam only; GOG, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Reviews
im usually into faster games, but having a blast with this
got a permanent skill point loss in the first room of the game for the great sin of looking around. and not like I fell into some obvious trap, no just looking around the room apparently is so traumatic it permanetly damages you.

goodie
Very good. Not as funny as disco, but same high quality.
I was a big fan of Disco Elysium, so of course I wanted to try out the studios next project. There are a lot of things to like but with an equal amount of things to dislike. The general gameplay, art style, and music were all reminiscent of DE, and all of this was good. While the gameplay wasn't much different, there were a few innovations I liked, like the action scene system. I didn't like the day/night system. Towards the end of the game, you run out of things to do that progress time so you end up having to take punishing side jobs to fill out your schedule. The story was a mixed bag for me. I found some of it incredibly compelling. The issue is that most of these storylines do not have a satisfying payoff, they just end. The ending of the game itself is the same. While I enjoyed the playable part of the ending, the actual resolution of the game is very abrupt. We get no feedback on how our choices impacted the narrative, our character's fates, etc. It just ends. I suspect the studio ran out of money and just needed to ship. It's the curse of all CRPGS. On the latter point, there are quite a few bugs. Most involved there not being flags on certain dialogue trees, so I would see dialogue that was no longer relevant on my playthrough. For example, my main character would have a 'revelation' about something that I have known about for a long time or progressed past because I missed the clickable earlier. There were a few bugs that caused me to be unable to complete minor quests (I assume these are scripting issues). I don't think they had any major effects on the playthrough, though, due to the lack of any real payoff in the ending. I don't regret my time with this game, but I definitely didn't connect to the character as much as I did Harry Du Bois. I think it's because of the spy theme of the game. It made it harder to relate to the characters, though I did grow fond of some of them towards the end. It looks like the remaining devs are hard at work fixing bugs and adding QOL features, but I don't think I would play the game again unless they expand and flesh out some of the story.
superbloc,baby!
Absolutely thrilled that the devs of the previous game were fired, disco elysium was full of weird anti-white racist undertones and had absolutely zero redeeming factors. was a slog of a game. This game so far doesnt force me to read retarded rambling monologues by extreme leftists trying to force their weird world views and self hatred upon the gamer. i would buy this game ten times if i could refund disco elysium
Не покупайте игру, так как разрабов выгнали на мороз (снова). Моё мнение по теме: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiYjd6_GelU
A few steps back and a few steps forward. It probably isn't as *good* as Disco, but I enjoyed it at *least* as much, but then I also am an easy sell for a good spy drama, and it is exactly that, and quite a few things more than that. Go in clean. Judge it on its own merit, not as a spokesperson for your own personal politics (though I do think it has plenty of insights and imaginations in its own rights, just probably not the ones a lot of people are more interested in) or as a rival/successor to Disco, and I think it largely does speak for itself. It has its own voice and can compare and contrast interestingly to its predecessor. Whatever is going on with management, the people who really made it really cared and have their own voices. It's worth hearing out. Welcome to the end of history. Whatever happens has already happened.
