Long, long ago, there was an ancient kingdom called Ys which prospered under the auspices of two heavenly Goddesses. Over time, the kingdom came to be known as Esteria, and its divine history was largely forgotten by all but the descendants of those who once preached the Goddesses’ will.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 3 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
The charming character writing, occasionally excellent art, and pleasantly brisk overworld combat is completely overshadowed by the bland and confusing dungeons, the underbaked equipment and experience systems, and the awful, awful boss encounter design. Truly the worst fights I have ever endured. I'm happy for the people who enjoy this, but I just couldn't.

The bump system combat felt weird at first but after getting used to it, it was surprisingly fun and unique. The soundtrack is fantastic and despite its age, the adventure still feel engaging from start to finish. The game can be frustrating at times, especially when figuring out where you need to go next and some boss fights are much harder than the rest. I play this after Origin and it's nice to see some of the characters related to the characters from Origin, definitely recommend to check that game out if you started Ys series from Ys I
Ys I is a great old RPG. Emphasis on old, because where I did find it really enjoyable. I can completley see why people wouldnèt enjoy a game like this enymore. The combat is just running into enemies from a 45 degree angle or you get hit going head on. Which did take a little getting used to, and the simplicity of it. But once it clicked with me I was running all around running into enemies trying to line up perfectly. It's just a good little time capsule of a game.
Merci.
I took a chance on the Ys series and was so glad I did. A quick game, but its very fun.
I love DARK FACT
An old game I thought to start with on the series - I don't regret it maybe give it a 6/10 or around that. Music was great, the graphics/rework was great and I really like the art style of these kind of games. Combat was alright, took a while to get used to. Also had a good exploration factor and a good story. Bosses were not great and dungeons were also not enjoyable. There were some hidden extra things/easter eggs which some of these older games are notorious for so that was cool too. I played on 144 fps for most of the game only having to turn it off for the final boss otherwise it felt impossible - 60 fps with v sync on would probably give a more stable/the intended experience. There was one other boss where I think it made it harder but it was still possible and I did it. I just wanted to sort of run do a quick general playthrough and had a hard time mainly due to the confusing and not really enjoyable dungeons as well as a couple of moments where something needed to be interacted with/done first before proceeding with the story. For that reason, after struggling for a while I ended up needing to use a guide/some maps which helped a lot so I can really recommend those unless you enjoy the experience of figuring it out yourself maybe particularly with old games like these like interacting with every NPC in the town for their dialogue/clues etc. Now starting Ys 2 and moving on with the rest of the series!
