Xenoraid: The First Space War

Great little game, highly recommended to grab on sale.

Variety in weapon and enemy ships is what I really like in Xenoraid. Procedurally generated levels can't be the strongest side of the game, although, I didn't feel monotony of the gameplay. Quite a high level of difficulty forces you to stay focused and makes the taste of a victory especially pleasant. Music is awesome. Just like in other 10tons products I played.

You know what? Despite my few minor gripes, this is a solid Shmup. I've received an amount of fun for the price I paid for this game. It was surely on sale, because of course, but it's been worth it whatever it was. There's about 6(?) different ship types. You start out with and can have up to 4 ships mapped to the face buttons. They all play different enough to warrant their inclusion and you'll probably have your favorites. You have 2 weapons per ship; the main weapon you'll be using most of the time which will all increase a heat bar until it fills and you have a cooldown period, and limited specials are on left trigger. In a way pressing the button to change to another ship acts as a dodge-esque function since as soon as you press the button and for about a second or so there's no ship on screen to get hit. It has a cooldown so you can't do it in rapid succession, but does come in handy. You can buy & sell ships, so even at the start you can sell a ship and buy one you like more. I mean... It's no "Area 88 / U.N, Squadron" but it's tight, ya'll, for what it is.
