WRC Generations – The FIA WRC Official Game

Welcome to WRC Generations, the final 'love letter' from Kylotonn before they lost the license—and by 'love letter,' I mean the kind written in magazine cutouts and left on your doorstep by a confused ex-boyfriend. It’s meant to be a celebration of a decade of rally. Instead, it feels like a 40-dollar simulation of the heat death of the universe. The Visuals: Straight out of 2016 This game came out in 2022, but looking at the textures is like staring directly into a bowl of wet oatmeal. It manages to look worse than games that predate the invention of the fidget spinner. Honestly? I’d rather play WRC on the Nintendo 3DS. At least the 3DS version has the dignity to be a collection of four honest pixels. This? This is a blurry, jagged hallucination of a road that looks like it was rendered on a TI-84 calculator in a dumpster behind Nacon offices. The Physics: Isaac Newton’s Personal Hell Driving in this game isn't 'challenging.' It’s a psychological assault. The physics aren't just bad; they’re a personal insult to the concept of friction. You’re trying to steer a haunted forklift through a bathtub full of margarine while wearing oven mitts. One second you’re clipping a pebble, the next you’re performing a majestic, gravity-defying pirouette into a pine tree because the car developed sentience and decided that participating in this game was beneath its dignity. If you want a challenge that actually rewards your suffering, go play Dirt Rally 2.0. Yes, it’s harder to get into than a locked vault, but at least when you crash there, it’s because you made a genuine mistake—not because the car decided to become a rolling barrel from the DK arcade game. Or better yet, go back to Dirt 2 or 3. Remember 'fun'? Those games had it and have better physics. This game traded 'fun' for a UI that looks like a spreadsheet and handling that feels like a cry for help. The Features: The Livery Graveyard Oh, you wanted to make your car look cool by making a fully custom livery ? Too bad. The MyNacon account linking works about as well as the Titan submarine. You can’t make liveries because the servers are currently being hosted by a single potato in a dark room. It’s a digital brick wall designed to keep you from having even a microscopic amount of joy. And the car roster? It’s the 'Oops! All Legends' experience. The Legends class is great, sure, but the rest of the classes are as empty and depressing as my bank account after a Steam Sale. It’s the same three modern cars wearing different hats, circling a drain of mediocrity. The Verdict WRC Generations is a 'Participation Trophy' made of wet cardboard and covered in spiders. It’s a social experiment to see how much a rally fan can endure before they experience a total mental breakdown. 1/10 – I’d rather rally a lawnmower through a minefield.
