World of Tanks is a tactical action game with very different gameplay depending on the vehicle type and role. Aside from regular PvP, there are competitive and clan-based modes, special PvE and PvPvE events, and much more. Whether you play to dominate or just enjoy the ride, you'll fit right in.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

About
World of Tanks offers something for everyone: Try different tactics, vehicles, and modes!
World of Tanks has a unique pace. Its armored vehicles are fast enough to draw you into the action, yet slow enough to give you time to think strategically. Good reflexes are always a plus, but it's smart and bold moves that can really turn the tide of a battle. Identify a weak spot in the enemy team's defense, move to an advantageous position at just the right moment, or ambush an opponent—and you'll feel like a champion.
The unique pace is yours to control: there are five vehicle types that each play very differently. Generally, light tanks rely on their speed and stealth, heavy tanks on their armor, and mediums on versatility. Tank destroyers (TDs) are feared damage dealers, and self-propelled guns (SPGs) hurl shells at enemies from afar, using an RTS-like view. Almost every one of the 800+ highly detailed vehicles, spread over 11 tiers and 11 nations, feels special.
Begin with classic tanks and progress toward mighty high-tier machines. Adjust their performance to better suit your unique playstyle with crew perks, equipment, and Field Modification. Top that off with visual customization: showcase each vehicle's unique flair with custom paints, styles, and a wealth of other options.
World of Tanks has received multiple and extensive upgrades to its graphics and physics since its launch in 2010. The maps feature unique landmarks and plenty of destructible objects. Vehicles get wet when in water, and they receive shell breaches from enemy rounds that penetrate, as well as pockmarks from rounds that bounce off. Guns and shell explosions have authentic, caliber-dependent sounds, and the acoustic environment is very rich, adding to immersion.
The basic mode is 15v15 Random Battles. Prominent regular modes include Onslaught (7v7 with extra special abilities), Frontline (30v30 on colossal maps with lots of tactical options such as airstrikes), and Steel Hunter (battle royale on mode-specific vehicles with field upgrades). On top of that, there are themed PvE and PvP events with unique rewards, clan-only Global Map and clan-based Strongholds, and more!
World of Tanks is hard to master but easy to learn and enjoyable from the get-go. As a rookie, learn the basics from the Bootcamp scenarios, face easier opponents in lower-tier battles, and complete the Tank Academy missions for appealing rewards. A seasoned tanker friend can get you into the Referral Program, bagging great benefits for both of you.

So much RNG
Well screw this. Game is obviously not for new, unexperienced players, tutorial is useless, not that there is much of one, you can barely learn the game basics because the bots shoot premium ammo and never bounce. But you shoot back and bounce off, if you try to aim, you get your tank shot out from under you. There's nothing here for new folks, definitely not wargaming's best title, so what if numbers say otherwise. You're expected to know how this game works before you even try it. Too easy to pass this one up.

WoT in 2026 for a new (returning) player: I was sent an invitation to try out WoT again and receive some rewards... The only problem is that on the US account I had 0 battles and I required at least a SOUTHAND to receive them. Excuse me, WHAT? And the rewards are pathetic too, like 300k silver and not even a week of premium. The devs are legit so disconnected from their playerbase, it is not surprising the game is dying lol. Compared to WoW which literally showers you with rewards, no matter if you are new or returning player, this is definitely extremely greedy. No reason to play this trash, if this is the "warm welcome", I am scared to see what type of grind awaits further.
just no
Game is over-run by people with their thumbs up their asses, pay to win ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and god awful game design choices.
This is one of the worst pay to win games out there.Premium overpowered tanks and loot boxes for sale, unbalanced tech tree tanks, you almost always have to shoot premium ammo because everyone else does and even then the rng is ruthless so if you are a free-to-play player good luck maintaining your credits unless you play premium vehicles .The matchmaking is terrible, even after all these years. It results in games ending in just 3 to 4 minutes, with one team completely obliterating the other with zero effort almost every time.Skill almost never matter if you play in one of those matches because you end up fighting half the enemy team in a matter of minutes because your half team died at the first 3 minutes.Avoid at all costs until these issues are fixed(propably never since they did not cared until now).
Worst game ever seen, trash.
No i to samo jak zawsze zapłać a bedzie ci dane i bedziesz lepszy. No to jak to wygląda jak masz portfel to jesteś lepszy i tyle.Wjec jak to chce zagrac w gre polecam se zaparzyc meliske i przygotowac gruby portfel bo jak chcesz przyspieszenie jakies bostery premium pas kolejny premium boost i premium czołgi to spokojak tego nie masz powodzenia w twojeje chistori żmudnego wbijania tierów.
OK, I'm learning the hard way now how people are saying this game is a BS joke. So I finally leave protected "new guy status", and get steamrolled twice in a row (defeat) as bottom tier, and then this jack-wagon game company has the audacity to "offer" me some joke of overpriced digital content? SERIOUSLY? Shove your little doggie offer up your back side. Force me into obviously pre-determined defeats and then have the gall to think I'll spend money on your product? No, I don't expect a game to be handed to me without some kind of challenge. But this game's tutorial is a worthless joke, and being thrown to the seal-clubbing wolves as soon as I'm out of the "new guy" status, JUST NO. Sadly, I really did like World of Warships. But maybe I can be another neg-repping @sshole and say "this is a Wargaming title too, and I think it sucks, so no more $$$ for ANY Wargaming titles... We'll see. STOP BEING AN @SSHOLE TO NEW PLAYERS! I know a few competitors whose PvE mode is far more rewarding without the frustration. Even World of Warships does co-op right. But this BS? NO. Also, NOBODY wants to wait in a queue over 2 minutes just to get steamroll defeated . Morons Also, nobody in their right mind pays for scripted defeats. Keep your garbage, WG.
