About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

Reviews
I REALLY want this game to succeed. That's probably why I'm being less critical of it than I normally would. Devs, just give us more polish and more content
Low Quality XCOM copy + the good is new cover concepts that can allow reaction shots from cover too many bugs: - unit gets stuck on stairs and cannot move - grenades cannot be thrown even though the angle clearly works - mission get stuck in some kind of mode where no abilities work etc.

Gets really repetitive really quick.
The basics of this type of game are there, but the game itself isn't there yet. The big marketing point is that there is no percentages only ballistics, but that isn't accurate. It's the exact same thing as X-Com. Stealth isn't an option, and the enemy will always have the advantage when you come into contact with them. You can be sniped from off screen. The game is just extremely unbalanced. Adding some more QoL options, more guns with attachments to help out would really make this game stand out, but it's just not there yet.
This was a disappointment. I am usually not one to request refunds but I did for this. I tried, I streamed it for my community as well and really NOBODY liked it. The story is cringy, mechanics are rough, animation is bad, seems like alot of AI was used and used poorly. if you want a good Turn-Based tactical shooter about a mercenary squad with old-school action movie vibe then get Jagged Alliance, even the original from '95 is better than this. I feel like the story could be make to be better but the rest needs ALOT of work to make it good.
This game feels quite similar to XCOM, though I haven’t gotten very far yet. That said, two things stand out to me. First, the biggest gripe: it’s 2026, AI translation is so advanced now, and adding Chinese localization shouldn’t be difficult at all. Why is there still no official Chinese? Are developers acting like the Chinese market doesn’t exist? They ought to look into the purchasing power of Chinese players. As for gameplay, since it follows the XCOM formula, the core XCOM staples should be there, while new ideas can be added on top. There’s also room to improve the customization options. Overall it shows promise, but I’ll wait for official Chinese before diving deeper. Thumb down for now.
15 years late
Maybe later but right now this game has too many bugs to be operating consistently. Crashes after finishing missions. Even on the easiest setting, enemy forces continuously flood into the map and overwhelm your forces. Balancing between recovery time and mission timers is non-existent. Which leads to not being able to complete missions for more money to pay everyone and expand base. Solid base, but for now I would highly recommend waiting until they have ironed out all the kinks.
