About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

The beginning is pretty good so I hope it stays decent later on. Haven't run into any serious bugs and personally the game hasn’t crashed for me once
Honestly? It scratches that Xcom itch.

I like the fact that this doesn't throw 500 systems at you immediately. You can basically understand the combat after one mission and then start experimenting with positioning and overwatch. Hopefully the full game adds more abilities and tactical options, because the foundation is solid.
First Impressions are very good. It's the type of game that I love. What's better it is conventional weapons and quite well thought out. Yes it's a little rough round the edges but this has huge potential in my opinion. Being able to see stats in the pre-mission squad screen would be hugely helpful.
Played the demo enjoyed it. Purchased the game on launch today and have enjoyed the first 4.5 hours. It is a solid squad strategy game, similar to the mechanics of Xcom 2... but with a Jagged Alliance theme. Yes the UI and voice acting could be improved... but neither impact the enjoyment of playing.
As someone who has played pretty much every XCOM-like game I could get my hands on, I was expecting this to feel extremely familiar and it does. But I don't necessarily see that as a negative. The cover system is intuitive, movement works exactly how you'd expect, and the cone-based overwatch is probably the one mechanic that makes the combat feel different. It took me a couple of missions to get used to it, but I actually like it more than traditional 360-degree overwatch. You have to think about where your soldier is facing and where the enemy is likely to move. That's a small change, but it creates some interesting decisions. Still needs polish, especially animations, but the tactical foundation is good
I think the biggest mistake is judging this game after the tutorial. The tutorial basically gives you: grid + AP + cover + shooting. Of course it looks like XCOM. Once you start playing around with the systems properly, the game becomes much more interesting.
its a great game. Few little bugs here n there but nothing ground breaking at this point,However Boys n Girls could we plz just put in bigger squads as later on in game 4 members is not enough and game comes bit to hard to enjoy.but i do like this game n lets hope it gets some dlcs ,well done people its thumbs up from me.
Plays like a Jagged Alliance-esque world with XCOM 2 mechanics - if you enjoyed those, this will be right up your alley. Lots of people are whining about how it's not XCOM 2, and they're right, because it's not XCOM 2? KInda like Julia, the reason we don't get these games very often is because you don't know how to shut up. Speaking of, I don't know what the devs were trying to accomplish with all the conversations, but there's a LOT of them; skipping is a thing, luckily.
