About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

A solid, well put together guy-in-a-van game, albeit one that wears its inspirations on its sleeve. The inspiration from XCOM 2 and Jagged Alliance 3 is clear, but derivative is not the same thing as bad. I have had quite a few crashes with the early build, and it is in dire need of spit and polish, but I still will not hesitate to recommend it.
One more mission™. You know the drill. The game isn't perfect, but somehow I keep saying that and clicking “Start Mission” again.

I've basically exhausted my supply of turn-based tactics games at this point. JA3, XCOM 2, Xenonauts 2, Hard West 2, Rogue Trader... played all of them way too much. Warhounds definitely gave me the “oh, this is basically XCOM” impression at first. Then I went back to XCOM 2 after not touching it for years. And that's when I realized the two games actually have a pretty different feel.
The cone overwatch is actually a really clever idea. As well as shooting without nding your turn. Took me a couple missions to stop thinking about it like XCOM, but now I really like it.
I appreciate that this game isn't trying to turn turn-based tactics into an MMO. You have soldiers. They have guns. There are enemies. Someone is going to have a bad day. Beautiful.
need Chinese Нужен китайский 其他都还ok
it is 2026 and local terrorists still keep highly explosive red barrels right next to their covers ... truly a classic tactical experience. ps the game is totally fine so far
It took a quick minute to understand the premise/loop but so far I have absolutely loved it. Similar in many ways to x-com/jagged alliance, but has its own wrinkles. Definitely recommend!
Xcom/jagged alliance vibes what's not to love.
This game reminds me why I love turn-based tactics. Not because it's revolutionary.Because I can sit there for 30 seconds staring at a battlefield thinking:“Okay, if I sprint this guy here, shoot that guy, then retreat behind the wall...” And then actually do it. That's the good stuff. Warhounds has it.
