About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

A solid, well put together guy-in-a-van game, albeit one that wears its inspirations on its sleeve. The inspiration from XCOM 2 and Jagged Alliance 3 is clear, but derivative is not the same thing as bad. I have had quite a few crashes with the early build, and it is in dire need of spit and polish, but I still will not hesitate to recommend it.
Bland, boring, this definitely shouldn't be 1.0. its just a slog to play. Is it worth the money, no. buy it when its cheap if you must have it. Feels old, 10+ years old. voice acting sucks. and so on and so on.... but the worst part is the Devs are trying to sell a different game under a new title.

Very good video game. A mixture of XCOM in a modern setting and other games, it adds a lot to love. It's not some AAA experience but as a lover of turn-based tactical games like XCOM, this scratches a lot of itches. I enjoy having a wide variety of customizable characters, as well as some named ones, going on missions that allow me to enjoy *my* characters in a variety of missions. Combat is challenging in many regards, which I enjoy, and while there are some ways to advantage fights, it's not like XCOM 2 at launch when one piece of wargear can 'cheese' a fight. I love these kind of games, and I hope for more coming to Warhounds.
I've basically exhausted my supply of turn-based tactics games at this point. JA3, XCOM 2, Xenonauts 2, Hard West 2, Rogue Trader... played all of them way too much. Warhounds definitely gave me the “oh, this is basically XCOM” impression at first. Then I went back to XCOM 2 after not touching it for years. And that's when I realized the two games actually have a pretty different feel.
I have 3 times in a row sniper missing with 70% hit chance- is this not a fake random?
I've played the hell out of JA3, Xenonauts 2, Hard West 2, Rogue Trader, Miasma Chronicles... basically if it has turn-based combat and a grid, I've probably played it. And honestly, I'm having a good time with this. No, it's not as polished as JA3. No, it doesn't have the insane amount of content Rogue Trader has. But the combat has a nice old-school simplicity to it.
재밌네..... 창작마당도 추가해주면 갓겜 되겠다.
I actually like it, despite some jank and a crash I ran into. It is a pleasant experience, the tactics feel relaxed, and the game has its own style. Patches are definitely necessary though
TLDR: Don't listen to the naysayers - the game is not hard if you understand the mechanics. Tactical combat is great, strategy layer is a bit sparse. The Good: The combat is from Xcom 1, with some improvements and substitutions. You get to spend your two actions in any order. This allows attacking twice, attack and overwatch, move twice, etc. Attacking does not end your turn. The classes feel really good. A team of medics is completely viable without a single medikit between them. You can respec skills at any time, which lets you try every combination at no cost. The missle strike is a nice quality of life feature. The Mixed: The enemy squad activation system is also lifted straight from Xcom 1, resulting in some contrived gameplay. Crossing an invisible threshold activates an enemy squad that immediately scrables for cover, without refunding any of your action points. This means you should be hugging the edges of the map whenever possible, and only move your squad one action at a time, so that if you do trigger an enemy pack, you can also use your second action to take cover. This also makes shotgunners both the best and the worst class in the game. There have been multiple occasions where rushing enemy position would activate several hidden enemy squads, turning an easy battle into a near-death experience. While the game does a good job overcoming early game win buttons like smoke grenades and thermals, some options remain overpowered throughout the campaign. One of these is overwatch. You're almost always better off using overwatch than shooting. Knives are utterly OP in the hands of melee characters. The most bullet spongy enemies in the game, including bosses, can be killed in one turn with a knife. The strategy layer is functional. The story is forgettable. The Bad: Unique mercenaries can not have their look changed. Even if you buy the DLC, you'll only get some skins for some mercs. You can not change their colors at all, which makes color-coding your mercs by class a hassle. Their unique skills are mostly meh, but they do get a lot of banter. Closing Thoughts: It's a really good first attempt at a tactical game, even if they mostly copied Xcom 1's homework. If they sell enough copies to make a sequel, that might be the game to watch for.
