[h1]Der Imperator wacht noch immer über uns![/h1] Der (Sub-)Sektor Aurelia, in dem sich Rekrutierungswelten der "Blood Ravens" befinden, wird von gleich zwei Problemen heimgesucht: Auf der einen Seite zeigen die geheimnisvollen Eldar auf einmal Interesse an den Planeten und auf der anderen bricht ein Tyranidenschwarm über die überraschten Welten her, so dass sich einmal mehr deren Oberfläche in heftige Schlachtfelder verwandelt. Auch die Orks können diese Chance natürlich nicht an sich vorbeiziehen lassen und nutzen die Gelegenheit, ordentlich "Waaaaagh!" unter den ansässigen Völkern zu säen. "Dawn of War 2" krempelte die Spielweise seines Vorgänger vielleicht nicht komplett, aber doch ziemlich entscheidend um. Anstatt auf Basenbau, die Eroberung von strategischen Ressourcen- oder Kontrollpunkten und auch echte Einheitenausbildung zu setzen, bekommen wir einige verschiedene Squad-Typen (Scouts, Taktischer Trupp, Devastor-Trupp, Cybot, Sturm-Marines und den Kommandierenden) vorgesetzt, von denen wir mit jeweils vier Auserwählten von Gefecht zu Gefecht ziehen. Im Gegenzug zur deutlich eingeschränkten Auswahl gewinnen diese Einheiten rollenspielartig an Erfahrungspunkten, können mit verschiedensten Gegenständen (Waffen, Rüstungen...) verbessert werden und wachsen quasi mit dem Spielverlauf zu größeren Bedrohungen an. Taktik geht damit klar vor reine zahlenmäßige Überlegenheit, was nicht jedem Fan des Vorgängers schmeckte. Ehrlicherweise wäre mir klassischer Basenbau auch lieber gewesen, aber das überarbeitete Spielprinzip macht es eigentlich unumgänglich, die Mission immer weiter voranzutreiben und ein Ausruhen ist weitaus tödlicher als im Erstling. Technisch kann sich der Titel von 2009 auch im Jahr 2026 durchaus noch sehen lassen, denn sieht man von "Tempest Rising" aus dem Vorjahr ab, gibt es wenig, was revolutionär moderner wäre. Musik und Vertonung sind ebenfalls ok, auch die Steuerung ist schnell erlernbar und es trifft wie so oft ein wenig die Weisheit "Kennt man eines, kennt man alle" zu. Ein Tutorial sorgt dafür, dass auch absolute Neulinge schnell ins Spiel finden. Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist insgesamt annehmbar skalierbar, wer es nicht zu herausfordernd mag, dürfte auf simpelster Stufe nie wirklich ins Schwitzen kommen. Nach oben ist die Skala aber gefühlt offen. Unterhaltsamer Titel mit passabler Spielmechanik, aber eben ohne Basen- und Einheitenbau sicher nicht für jeden Echtzeit-Strategie-Fan geeignet.
