Great game, very fun once you get the hang of it. Big learning curve though. Only bad thing is I'm 50% certain KF Games has abandoned this game.
War on the sea is a fun naval game that i would recommend. So, whats good about it? Pros: -very good modding platform with many well made mods such as the Tokyo Express mod and campaign mods. -easy to hop into and play (for me anyway) -a game set in the pacific theater of operations -custom mission editor -campaign set during operation watchtower -fun combat -late war stuff -damage modeling (its not world of warships) -I have not not encountered any bugs Cons: -dogfighting is terrible to say the least -the game is dead as the devs went off to develop sea power (devs of sea power with former developers of cold waters, a killerfish game -ui is outdated -recon is very tedious -no base late war campaign (it is understandable) -no soyru hiryu kaga or akagi Overall, fun game to hop into.

Awesome Game!! Love it. I wish you could put Wildcats, Dauntless, and Avengers in the same attack group so you can have a true carrier strike group.
bro f this game, enemy merchant on fire, serious flooding...still has pin point accuracy and rof
This feels more like fighting against bugs. Get your ♥♥♥♥ together developers. This is soooo bad.
Short version: I wouldn't buy this, just watch youtubers suffer through it and edit their experience into something fun. First off, it's abandon-ware at this point with little to no community mod support to keep it growing and improving. The first hours of any campaign are fine, but as in my unfortunate experience, as soon as you cross the review threshold, it turns into plane spam, and for some reason, a flight of 12 Zeros are the most lethal aircraft strike, lighting 6 fires (you can only fight 2-4 at a time depending on ship size, so they spread out of control in 80% of my experiences) and only losing 1-2 of their number per strike. The counter play to Air is to sail in range of the the planes at night, which means you don't get your planes for scouting, and convoys just aren't fast enough to get into Guadalcanal and back out by day break. Also, the AI Cheats like crazy, it gets so many more command points that can be spent on ships than the player that I set it to the easiest difficulty and checked the save file, and the AI still got more points to spend than the player. Forums suggest this needs to be the case because the player will win in 2 weeks of battle without it, so maybe they should have spent some time making a better AI than just giving more resources and plane spam. TLDR This game "tries" to be realistic, but it only nailed the boring, un-glamorous portions of the war effort, and its failures more than ruin that experience. Also, the devs MUST have fired their user experience / gameplay guy during development because there are hints of genius in the experience, but they are quickly overshadowed by the failures in that department.
All there is, is an endless stream of incoming airplanes. Because the AI seems to know where you are, always. So the main gameplay is: dodge airplanes and repeat. Tedious.
What a great game! Very detailed and addictive gameplay with an active mod community that adds new campaigns that are literally like whole new games in themselves. Have I mentioned the beautiful graphics and detailed ship models? I highly recommend this game
Great game with alot of potential. Only thing bringing it down is lack of campaigns
this game is garbage it has so much potential but just fails. surface fleets aren't worth the cost which is stupid cause I play this game for the surface engagements but instead im here stuck with 1 fleet carrier and a bunch of subs as a starting force which is fun at first but very limiting and kind of ruins the fun of the game. the balancing is also just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. in balanced (difficulty) im sitting here for 3 hours and 28 days go by where i sink 5 subs and fight with my planes twice never seeing a single soul just camping around guadal canal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ YET they can keep building a level 2 airfield there? somehow for 3 weeks straight being able to sneak in with a big merchant fleet and supply guadal canal how in the ♥♥♥♥? So here I am thinking ♥♥♥♥ it lets ramp the difficulty then more ships should spawn and I can actually play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game I load in and not even a week in i have found 3 separate heavy cruiser groups (6 ships each 2 CA) 2 battle ships mixed with more heavy cruisers and merchant ships another heavy cruiser fleet with merchant ships (both 10 ships in the whole fleet) and 3 separate carrier groups all different classes (Yorktown, enterprise and wasp all are 9 ship fleets) on top of that I have found flotillas of destroyers and subs all of which are harrasing me constantly with shore bombardment landings and sinking what little of a merchant fleet i have, this game has some serious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ balancing issues that need to be addressed before i ever touch this game again because this is an awful expereince
