Reviews
Great third person action arcade like shooter game that reminds me if you combined pokemon with the breeding evolutions almost. The graphics are simple but great. Gameplay and mechanics are also phenomenal and there is a huge variety in the number of creatures and abilities to choose from. Despite all the thought and creativity that went into the creatures and abilities, the campaign still feels like it's lacking and this is from someone who really doesn't focus on campaigns at all. Nonetheless, it is still fun and enjoyable. Voidling Bound still leaves a massive future potential.
Fantastic game!

好游戏 全方位及格线以上的游戏。。但是也看的出来策划连让别人有个合理有意义的理由去肝都做不到。。。
TL:DR: One of the best PvE gaming experiences I've had in the last years. The gameplay loop is fun, different creatures feel unique, amazing OST, beautiful graphics, and a "1.0 polish" feeling I've only seen in Nintendo or some Microsoft Studios games. 9/10 -> With potential to be 10/10 once they address some lategame QoL. ---------------------- Now, I'll expand on the above mentioned points, there may be some content spoilers (not story). I got the game on launch day, and I have been playing 1-2 hrs every couple days, one month later, I have about 70% of the content unlocked (sitting at 30hours at the time of this review). The game is completely PvE and single player, which hasn't been a burden or felt wrong for me so far. To reach the lategame and melt enemies by yourself feels rewarding and fun. It is a 3rd person shooter, and it requires a minimal amount of coordination, mostly on the late game where it can get chaotic (and still fun), however, once you get "in the flow" of it, it can actually be pretty relaxing. I play with mouse and keyboard, there is controller support but unless your controller has a pad for aiming, your performance with ranged voidlings will suffer if you want to aim with a stick. No battle pass, no day-1-DLC, no microtransactions, no EA. Excellent price point for prize/value relation. The devs seem engaged and patching at a healthy rate. That being said. I have to mention that I haven't had any crashes or game-breaking bugs (actually no bugs at all) in the 30 hours I've played. Excellent polish from the dev team before release. I am aware that players have different rigs so maybe some people have been affected by "some crash", I cannot speak to that. The level design is great; there are exploration, survival, time-attack, and other types of missions that reward you for completing them multiple times without feeling like a chore. Sometimes you want to get 100% of the collectibles on a mission, the next time you want to rush the boss, for instance. The OST is amazing (the whole sound design is), multiple times I found myself pumping the BGM volume up just to jam to it during a mission -> Which, btw, I may be wrong, but it feels like every level has it's own track(?), or at least the music never felt repetitive. Graphics are top, UE5 standard. No visual jank or immersion breaking clipping. Everything looks bespoke to the visual personality of the game, not some Unreal generic asset. There are 240+ creatures for you to "collect" and they each look distinct from each other, and the mid-late game enables you to craft your own creatures with visual skins and elements from ANY of the other ones, so you are rewarded for unlocking more and more of them, brilliant game design! Gameplay session-time can be as short or long as you want, you can hop in for a 5 min mission, or a 1hr one (stay longer farming exp and resources) while "stuff" happens on your base. Overall a very fun little game, different enough from the rest to stand out, and similar enough to other to scratch some nostalgic itches (looking at you, Spore). I totally recommend it at full price, and a must-buy on sale if you enjoy these genres. ---------------------- Now, some things I would like to see from the devs, these are QoL points which absence by no means substract from the current experience, aka "nice to haves", also, different from what everybody already mentioned on their reviews and what the devs already acknowledged on their roadmap post: * It would be nice to have a little mark on the levels where you already collected the little ducky thingy. * I would like to mark Voidlings as favorite, and/or protected from being released -> I know there is a mass release function on the roadmap. * A better compare between more than just 2 voidlings, with filters and sorting. * A queue for training voidlings on the same machine, so I can go on an 1-hour mission and know that more than only 2 voidlings are being trained on a specific gym tier. * A better way on the voidpedia to find out which elements are you missing for a specie (instead of having to put a voidling in the evolution machine to see "ah, yeah, fire and plasma") * The "talents" system is a bit obscure (witty, healthy, etc), how many are there? how exactly do I improve them? I can mix 2 to create a better one, but, only 2? These are things I had to go to the wiki for, but I would like to see them in the game itself. * A simulator while splicing so you can test your voidling before commiting the points. All of these can be put behind credit-unlocks if you deem it necessary. Continue the great job, devs. Excited to see what new designs and mechanics you come up with. Cheers!
I have an armyyy of gwigoons 10/10
