"Search and Destroy!" Who doesn't know this command slogan from the Vietnam War? That's exactly what this English-language game from Slitherine is all about. The aim is to reach a minimum score at the end of around 45 rounds, scout out the majority of the map and destroy your opponent's troops in the process. The opponent should either be the “Vietcong” or the “North Vietnamese Army”, you know, the “Charlies”. To accomplish this task, the player has infantry, armored vehicles, transport helicopters, artillery and air support in the form of armed helicopters or turn-dependent F4 air strikes at his disposal. The “Search” is implemented by flying to individual villages with infantry, starting from a main base. The infantry should now regularly secure these villages and, of course, track down suspected enemies. As the troops and helicopters naturally consume material, the corresponding supplies must also be brought in by helicopter. The player is now faced with the challenge of setting up appropriate intermediate landing points with a view to the maximum flight ranges so that the helicopters can refuel themselves and the troops can be supplied with supplies. The enemy is randomly on the move to lay mine traps or shoot down the odd helicopter from ambush with a bazooka. The whole thing is also garnished with the dreaded rain, which literally causes the required air strikes to fall into the water. Depending on your success in combat and reconnaissance, you earn victory points and money to buy additional troops. Your own infantry is divided into normal infantry and “Green Berets”. Although the latter have weaker combat values, they have a greater reconnaissance range and can train South Vietnamese infantry in upstream bases. These can then be deployed immediately after training. When exploring, you shouldn't take too much time, otherwise the enemies will come more and more frequently, especially from the left side of the map, and even then with armored vehicles. The latest version of the game not only allows you to play on “Normal” and ‘Veteran’ difficulty (lower starting capital), you can also select a “Custom” setting, which allows you to play with a higher number of rounds and a higher starting capital. At the end, there are awards in the form of promotion points and medals depending on the number of successful games. Interesting for tactics freaks and those interested in war. Lt. Lockhart: [reading] "...we have a new directive from M.A.F. on this. In the future, in place of "search and destroy," substitute the phrase "sweep and clear." Got it?" Private Joker: "Got it. Very catchy."

It's just boring. Feels like a low-budget early 2000's game you'd take to CEX after 30mins gameplay.
It's a bad mobile/tablet port with some clunky and unenjoyable "gimmicks" that seems fairly interesting and fun in concept, but is nothing but frustration in practice. Combat is poorly explained, and there's little to no reason as to when and why an enemy attacks and when one does not. wheter or not you win combat is essentially all down to a percentage roll.
Very unique approach to a war game. Easy to learn and every game starts with a slightly different map so you get a new experience each time. I was really pleased with it.
Although Vietnam 65 looks like a unique turn-based strategy game, but it has a lot of flaws. I spent hours learning the manual. The rules of this game are very complicated. Cons: -There is no way to dismantle an unused forward base. -Units run out of supply quickly. So I have to send helicopters to resupply them very soon. -The direct fire of M48 tank or AH-1 attack helicopter is much weaker than their indirect fire. This is ridiculous.
Small, simple, and reasonably challenging introduction into COIN games. Started my journey into COIN games with this one. For this experience, I am thankful.
It isn't bad... if you like oldschool games of this style. My main complaints are that it's clunky and there isn't much variety. honestly, I'm most disappointed that I couldn't find any mods for this. But I did just play one round for 3 hours straight so it's not bad
honestly love this game, i don't have any negative thing to say about it. If you think this game didn't have enough logistics in it check out Afghanistan '11. Wish the developer's current games were as good as this one, i don't know why they just keep getting worse and worse.
This is less a wargame and more of a logistics game where you spend most of the time resupplying the troops. About 50% of your moves is doing just that...every turn. It gets old fast. Not a bad game but I think mechanically flawed in a very big way. It's cheap so try it but....you were warned.
I enjoy the game. Its nice to take some time away from RT games... to tn based.. .. Vietnam always interested me.. as I served with Quite a few Vets.
