About

Valkyrie Saga is an indie, retro platformer styled after PSX classics, giving you a chance to embark on an epic odyssey! Play as Roll the Valkyrie, a divine warrior tasked by the gods with one mission: Stopping a floating island from crashing into the earth. Ascend the ancient skyborne land, explore ancient ruins, unlock their secrets - and stop the cataclysm!

Valkyrie Saga captures the original PSX with era-authentic visuals, a deeply immersive soundtrack, and gameplay that recreates the magic that defined a generation.

As the divine warrior, you'll have to master both the art of soaring across the skies across the plummeting island, and the way of the spear, confronting otherworldly foes!

Hidden among the ruins, cryptic scribblings, and odd twists of the world is a complex story to piece together, detailing what happened to the civilization that once occupied the island. Can you find out the truth before it is too late?

Awesome title, if you were a fan of Pseudoregalia this game won't disappoint. If you hate that game, you're not getting anything better here. They are very similar in their sort of fun janky retroish philosophy. Just like Pseudoregalia, there are a bunch of skips and tricks if you're good enough. Some intentional and some 100% not. The world is pretty interesting, both as a setting to explore and to sort of get the wider narrative from. Combat seems rough at first, but when you get a hold on it it's actually pretty dynamic. I'd say it does suffer from having about four enemies in the whole game though. Platforming is pretty interesting with the game giving you additional jumps as it's main progression resource. Most of the crystals you need to obtain them only need two extra jumps to access, so if any of the platforming gives you a challenge, you can easily explore and make it easier. The movement starts a little rough, especially if like me you assume that the game will be very vertical like most 3D Platformers. Once you get like 3 crystals you'll notice this game is a lot more about horizontal movement over different heights. The game gives you a ton of additional jumps in the late game, and it becomes very clear why as you progress. It's a nice 6 to 8 hour experience, maybe 12 if you go 100% it and do the bonus content. You can definitely stretch it if you want to do like challenge runs. Great buy at the price point. Much like I feel with Pseudoregalia, if this developer ever wants to release another title around the same size with the same execution but new mechanics and levels I would happily buy it too.

haven't played for long but i think its pretty good brings me back to my childhood playing random stuff on the N64 i also like music verynostalgic i have to say tho the camera, even on highest sensitivity, is ass
Very cool platformer, interesting world despite not being expanded upon to more vivid details does well enough to fill in the vibes. Music is excellent and exploration really feels alive because of it.
nice game :)
was hard to start at first, but after you get a few crystals you start exploring a bit more and having fun with finding different ways to get to the top. it being a huge open world platformer with that ps1 aesthetic really tickled the nostalgia gland.
If You want a game that plays like mario meets kings field minus the difficulty, this is the game for you
jankiest platforming ever but it has its moments, i like it iffy performance tho
Fantastic game :)
Movement feels really good and I love the aesthetic. I beat the game in about 6 hours but there’s definitely lots more I want to explore. I had lots of fun trying to sequence break/trying to get places I shouldn’t be able to and the game gives you lots of freedom to do so.
Sehr empfehlenswert!
