Overall a very good metroidvania. Good level design and the plant mechanics make up for basic combat and enemy style. Art direction and music are superb. The only real issues were experienced at the end, the game gets a little unstable on your final loop.
Update: just beat the game (violent ending). No will to continue to connect all the living network. It is an interesting game but the planting mechanics are too tedious for me in the end. Disclaimer: I believe I am 3 quarters of the way in the main story - only 2 "sarcophagi" to break (at least that's what i understand I've been doing...). Overall, a very unique metroidvania experience (combo of gardening + roguelite works out IMO). A good game. Positives: vibrant color palette, neat gardening gameplay that changes the world / helps with exploration - this is a unique feature (never seen that before in any game), peaceful approach possible in most situations (apart from bosses from what I can tell), easy to get all skills after "cycle" 6 (counterpoint to first negative point below). Negatives: early rogue-lite gameplay feels constraining until you realise you can memorise some skills and the paths previously explored remain visible on the map, path forward not always obvious (lost an hour looking for it in cycle 4 I think), the controls feel "heavy" for platforming and fighting

Obsessed. I love how Gaiaist this game is--you're rewarded for keeping enemy wildlife alive and planting new trees and vines. It's a great Metroidvania with a sweet twist. Now if I can only figure out how to connect the entire world via the life force web...

this game looks absolutely beautiful. I believe its worth playing just because of the environment. The combat as well as the expoloration are well balanced and feel like the garnish to a well made meal.
A genuinely incredible metroidvania. The art is beautiful, and its mechanics and map are more expansive than it initially lets on. I don't want to spoil too much for any new players, but you should remember that it's never too late to start anew.
