Your truck is magic and you now owe a soul debt to the buff isekai elf girl living in your head. Run over pedestrians as Truck-kun in a chaotic OVA-sized campaign, make deliveries, and defeat the Skeleton King across two worlds in this anime driving game with heart!

Carissa Ward was all set to start her new job as the VP of marketing--until YOU hit her with your truck and transported her consciousness to a world of fantasy and magic! Rather than accept her fate, gathering a party and going on a journey of growth and self-discovery, Carissa uses all her knowledge of anime tropes and Japanese RPGs to find a different path:

Pressed into the service of the newly-incarnated buff anime elf, you'll speed your magic delivery truck to complete objectives across two worlds in a focused and flavorful OVA-sized campaign, running over pedestrians, sending them to another world as Truck-kun, and helping Carissa power up a Galactic Gate with the stars you generate together. The Skeleton King waits on the other end of the great divide, and the only way Carissa is getting home is to take a Scroll of Resurrection from his weird, dead, bony hands.
Good luck!!!
Dodge cops, make deliveries, and smash through objects in the chaotic small town of Wenvale, USA!
Complete objectives across two worlds to power up a Galactic Gate with stars and unlock a subversive, heartwarming story rooted in our love for anime.
Run over pedestrians to turn them into monsters Carissa can slay for stars and XP. It's fine! Don't worry! Stop thinking about it!!
Energetic, ska-inspired soundtrack by award-winning composer David Mason (Dredge, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3).

Truck-kun is a great pickup-and-play dopamine slammer. Get in the truck, run over everything, sort of eventually learn how to do it *intentionally* in a way that scores you points, and familiarize yourself with the city! The core loop is very fun, and the bite-sized narrative that comes along is charming and has a lovely point to make about our relationship with joy and productivity which I wouldn't expect from this game (except that it's from Strange Scaffold, in which case, ofc it does). Overall, well worth the cost, and the sort of game to keep in your Favorites to play for a while basically forever. That being said, I feel it misses some marks. It has the "learn the layout" fun of a Crazy Taxi with the modern silliness of an Overcooked, and I don't think the two vibes quite land together in peak form. In terms of arcade, there's not a strong sense of comboing as you complete objectives quicker and quicker or in closer succession, there's no indicator of when your boost is up (or if there's a way to get it back quicker, etc.), lots of the sounds are kind offff... cute but not *invigorating* which is what I'd like from an arcade experience. RE: Overcooked, that sort of fluffy-but-stressful "do your best until you're out of time" vibe is present and makes the game feel quite contemporary. But, without more levels or twists within the level, the novelty can kind of wear off and you stop having those "THAT was ridiculous" moments one might expect from this aesthetic. I don't think either of these notes are reasons not to get the game, but I do think depending on what you're expecting, you may feel "something is missing" and I think these are part of it.

this is really one of those times where i wish i could give a mixed rating to a game rather than a positive or a negative one, or even just a neutral one entirely. that said, i have to settle on negative, because the bad and the mediocre outweigh the good here attempting to execute on a joke concept like this is inherently admirable, i must say, but that execution is mostly just skin deep here. if this were just the type of game you faff about in for an hour before putting the controller down and moving on to something else, then this probably wouldn't be such a negative review from me. the problem is that, despite the shallowness of the gameplay, there *is* something undeniably satisfying about the loop. so, i found myself coming back to it after an hour or so of playtime to finish the game the problems really start with the police. i'm not sure if the intent was to subliminally message to the player to support defunding the police, or if they're just accidentally incredibly annoying, but nothing about their presence actually seems to add to the difficulty of the game. so much of what the game's satisfying challenge has going for it is in learning the map layout and pushing runs to the hard time limit as a result. the police, therefore, don't actually do much of anything at best, and mostly just feel unfair at worst. starting the final level at heat 2 by having you immediately blown off-course by a randomly spawning police car flying at you from off screen doesn't feel particularly fun to me, especially when the sideswipe attack barely seems to function and let's talk about that final level. talk about a frustrating difficulty spike. i probably had to try a dozen times to finally beat it, only to finally do so with mere seconds to spare. i don't know if i'm just terrible at this game or if the requirements for the level really are that absurd, but after what i would consider a pretty relaxed difficulty curve with incremental, if unbalanced, objectives, i felt like i was hitting a total brick wall. in most games, i would welcome that, but i felt like i was up against the game's own limitations rather than my own. i wasn't sure how i could "get better" when i had no control over where delivery end points would spawn. for example, i thought i was in the clear when, with 30 seconds left, i initiated the last delivery on the final level at the boardwalk, only to discover that my destination was *at the top of a parking garage.* i was milliseconds away from reaching it, too, except that the timer still goes for a few seconds after making the delivery before the level actually ends, so who knows if i would have actually cleared the level if i'd made it with completely perfect performance i want to shout out the price here too. now, i am not at all the type of person who will tell you that paying $20 for a 4 hour game is not worth it. i think that's a dogwater excuse for games criticism. keep that in mind when i say that i feel like paying $20 for a game as shallow as this feels a bit silly to me. in a world where i can pay $20 for a deep, rich, satisfying 4 hour experience, i wish that this game took its concept much further than it does, and that it had playtested the final level a bit better. overall, it's a silly concept for a kind of crazy taxi spiritual successor, but really *all* it is is a concept, and not much more
Played for roughly 1 hour at this point. In this game, you drive a truck to run over people, in somehow lighthearted way. You are rewarded when you do specific things, like "Drift for 10 seconds" or "Destroy certain objects" While the writing is good and funny, music and environment are neat, and driving Truck-kun is quite fun (it's very responsive and you can do some unreal maneuvers) , I think this game is somewhat shallow. It seems there's only a single map, the enemies are only same cop cars (despite the Isekai elf claiming there will be murder drones when there's much heat). I'm also feeling that, running over people can be too "light" because they don't react differently even when I run over them at lightning speed. In fact, they can be run over even if the truck wasn't moving. I know this comedic game won't have realistic violence, but I think they should at least scream or curse more when I hit them hard. I recommend the game in this review since there are no "neutral" rating in Steam review, but yeah I hope they will add more contents or things into the game.
I really enjoyed this game aside from some objectives that I was way off the mark. My last 2-3 story gates were a series of ~8 objectives, with 6-7 of them already being completed by my runs so far, and then randomly "boost twice as much as you have in the entire game so far" dragging down the pacing and curve like it's OSRS
Like a good amount of people in the reviews I was rooting for the game; and it does have a lot of things going for it! Sadly, it's not enough. The Pros: - Fun Premise and cute dialogue. The story was fun to follow. - Tight controls; the turn back, drift and boost let you go around in crazy ways, in a weird Anime GTA experience. - Cute and simple graphics; not for everyone, but I like them. The Cons: - There's nothing else to it; there's only a single map, and objectives are repetitive and never change (except for the final level, which is only 1 level). After you've done 1 run you've done them all. - The achievements are bugged; despite the new Garage spot showing that I've done 1700 objectives, the achievement "Do 1000 objectives" never popped, so you can't even platinum the game to get that sense of completion. All in all, a fun idea, but not worth its current price. More maps, evolving objectives throughout the story and more unique levels like the final one would add a ton to the game, but at the moment I wouldn't reccomend it.
Premise wears thin quick even though the game's pretty short, missions are quite repetitive and steering doesn't quite feel right. Shame as I like the idea
Such a genuinely fun mash up of Crazy Taxi and Katamari. It takes good bits of both while not feeling the need to commit to the exact specifications of either one. I could spend a lot of time learning to perfect my runs.
Carissa: Send Dudes! Driver: Don't you mean nudes! Carissa: I'm in a fight, I need more men!
Cringe so bad I wish I was the one hit by a truck.
