Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 1 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Surprisingly, very deep city-builder with elements of political sim You cannot just build a factory in 1 click, you need tons of materials, people, finances etc Everything feels much more real then in any city-sim games I played
A classic. I remember playing this when it first came out and it's still just as entertaining today.
crud wont load, with all the options to get old games working, seems the devs cant be bothered fixing a simple old game.

The city building and political management blend together really well. Watching your island grow while dealing with unexpected challenges never gets old. It's a classic strategy game that's still enjoyable today.
I've played Tropico 4, 5, and 6 before I played this one, so this is mostly coming from the perspective of a modern Tropico player. And as you can see I've only played for a couple hours, so maybe take this with a grain of salt. What I like: + It's Tropico! Despite it's age, the core DNA of the series is very much here. If you love Tropico 4/5/6, you'll love Tropico 1 + Very addicting gameplay loop, for the same reasons I've said in my other Tropico reviews + Just has loads of charm, the isometric pixelated look invokes a lot of nostalgia + Great soundtrack, even compared to the other games in the series + Arguably he most immersive Tropico game I've played, it's easily the most "down to earth" feeling and least detached from reality What I'm mixed/neutral on: ~ Construction takes an ass long time, make sure to invest in construction workers early ~ Building stuff can be finicky, not every building can rotate and it doesn't feel like things line up even when they should What I don't like: - I'll partially forgive it due to it's age, but the UI is rather clunky and unintuitive - Crop conditions can vary wildly in pretty short periods of time, so you have to switch crops or move farms pretty often. Could've been a fun way to spice up difficulty but I just found it annoyingly tedious Overall thoughts: I'm giving this a thumbs up because, at only seven bucks, it's hard not to get your money's worth with it. However, I would not recommend this game to everyone. At it's core, it's still very similar to the later games in the series, and the dated presentation can definitely present some friction. Also, everyone always claims this is the hardest in the series, and I would agree with that, but I don't think the difficulty comes from a particularly meaningful or different place. I found that most of the difficulty I encountered was due to either the slow construction speed, which meant it took longer to get my moneymakers going and to solve citizen issues, or from less transparent information availability. The core systems themselves aren't that much harder to manage on their own terms. But, this is still a very fun game. Like every other game in the series, the core loop is extremely satisfying, and it's easy to get sucked into the world that you create, even with the rudimentary presentation. And if immersion matters to you, if you really want to FEEL like a dictator on a poor latin american island, this satisfies that need very well. Should you go out of your way to play it? Well, if you're already a big fan of older management simulation / strategy games, you'd probably get a lot out of this. If you're a Tropico fan who wants a new experience, this is at least novel to check out. But otherwise? I'd probably encourage you to just get 4 or 6.

fun old school game
Es ist schon einige Jahre alt, aber es hat eine angenehme Spielmachanik.Die neueren Versionen sind natürlich ausgereifter.
Where it all started for the Tropico franchise. The foundation on which the rest are built and your path of El Presidente. - Good city builder and simulator - Requires actual strategy and is challenging - You will have to calculate morale, respect, dissent, money, etc and plan ahead. - Political satire - Become a dictator - Worth it's replay value and for the nostalgia. You can't go wrong for the sale price. Overall 8/10.
TROPICO - очень много играл, очень давно. Первые две части самые любимые! Однозначно стоящая игра! На 2025 играть в нее уже сложно конечно! Хотелось бы увидеть осовремененную версию!
