Three heroes are bound to a magic artifact and sent to save a kingdom in this physics-based puzzle platformer. The wizard conjures, the knight smashes, the thief shoots — and you switch between them freely, or bring up to two friends along.

such a tiring game to play, due to janky controls & physics

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Я не любил эту игру, пока не поиграл с подходящей компанией. В очередной раз убеждаюсь, что суть не в игре, а в людях. Игра отличная песочница для приколов, тупняков, споров и ЯЩИКОВ!
Been a while since I tried playing this game. I was curious to play it due to all the hype I've heard about it online, but it does make me wonder whether people loved it so dearly because of nostalgia goggles and their fond memories of gaming in 2009 rather than because the game was actually good. I found the physics mechanics a bit too finicky, and the levels, as well as enemies, super repetitive. It just felt like I'm playing the same level with light background variations over and over and over again - even if I had several characters to choose from. Honestly not sure what all the hype is about - sure the game looks super pretty and storybook magical (even if a bit too blinding and overexposed at times), but imo it doesn't really stand the test of time. The gameplay doesn't feel particularly creative in terms of problem solving and its physics-based puzzles are also not particularly enticing. Maybe it's more fun as coop? I'd still try out the later games in the installment in case they're better (and because I made the mistake of buying them in a bundle at a discount), but I don't have high hopes here.
I passed this game 2 times with my 10-year son. I recommend Trine only for coop. It will be much funnier if you get coach coop. Charming game with funny gameplay.
The worst-handling, jankiest controls I've ever encountered in a platformer. No big deal, it's just a fun fantasy romp, I'll cope. Oh, the devs ran out of time to complete their homework, so turned the last level into a precision platformer out of nowhere, but with these controls? Naw, you goof'd, son. 4 hours to get to the last level 4 and a half to finish the last level. It's the shortest level. All of the fun that I had with the first 4 hours is wiped away by my bitterness at the design on the last level. And it's not even like a soulslike where I feel a sense of accomplishment for mastering the bosses moves, because it was just a matter of luck that one attempt was a low enough jank level that I made it. I assume the rest of the series is better. Start with those. This one's lean on story anyway.
When physics was still a novelty...
Trine (2009) was originally released during a period where physics was still hot. You have to keep that in mind if you decide to play this great game in 2025 and onwards. That's still true for the Enchanted Edition, released in 2014, which is basically the original game using the engine from Trine 2. If you're a regular gamer, I don't think Trine will pose too much of a challenge. It's more about the experience of sightseeing the amazing scenarios and having fun with the physics than mowing down the undead. That's so true that the creators didn't even bother to add different types of enemies. With that in mind, be prepared to experience one of the best platformers out there. You play all the 3 characters as much as you like, since you can switch between them very fast. At a given point, it might make more sense to use the rogue to fire arrows and do some ninja-like acrobatics than using the knight, who doesn't have a great deal of mobility, but can fight like a maniac when there are lots of enemies on screen. And then there's my favourite: the wizard. I just love drawing boxes and platforms to get past the puzzles. It's pretty cool how much freedom you have to beat the levels in Trine. I am sure that most of time I went through the puzzles in a very unorthodox fashion, and that's definitely part of the fun. The wizard plays a very important role in the sandbox aspect of the game. If the regular gameplay feels too easy (and it's likely that will be the case for most long-time gamers), try raising the challenge a bit by playing on Hard + hardcore mode and completing all the achievements. Then, find someone to play with you, which adds another depth since players might approach a puzzle in different ways. Laughing at the mistakes is a must, so don't get frustrated if things don't go well in multiplayer. ;) Playing Trine is a very relaxing experience in general. It's a game focused on art rather than addictive gameplay. The soundtrack and beautiful sights will definitely pay off the lack of challenge.
A Thief, a Wizard and a Knight Walk into a Bar...
Trine is a beautiful indie action platformer. It was one of the standout indies before the floodgates on Steam opened up. These days, good indies are harder to find and can easily get buried, which is a shame because Trine is one of those games that deserves to shine. The game strikes a great balance between action, platforming, and puzzle solving. That balance is what made it such a gem. The original Trine is still my favorite in the series. I remember far more of its story than I do Trine 2 or Trine 3. In fact, I couldn't even bring myself to finish Trine 3. I definitely recommend giving Trine a playthrough.
